?Premeditated?

HM was supposedly nearly two months pregnant and TS presumably showed up, half way around the world, for a little visit and as a possible surprise to SWM = HM & TS must have had some kind of plan. JMO

??? Did HM & TS plan on telling SWM they were expecting a child, getting married on Bali and immediately going on their honeymoon expecting SWM's blessings and a "here honey, take my credit card"??

But, SWM responded with an "oh NO" and a "NOT what it do", finger snap-snap, and all heck broke out???

:notgood:

You sure do know how to paint the picture. I tend to agree.

Did we ever determine when the first time TS mentioned going to Bali was? Was it after SWM and HM had already left? It must have been a sudden idea for him because he paid $200 to expedite his passport. Would that be a 48hr turn around? I really don't think he planned on going to Bali until after HM had already arrived there.

MOO

Mon, 7/21/14 “Leaving Aug 4th for Indonesia might not come backkkk” TS wrote on his FB page according to DailyMail.co.uk

Two days later our dynamic duo were partying it up at the Conrad Hotel paid for with SWM's credit card ... unauthorized.

* * *

For the timeline, I'm missing the dates and exact quotes on the China comment and the paid $200 to expedite passport comment if someone could post or PM me with those - thx!

I don't think we can see his fb comments anymore, but I could swear the comment about "not coming backk" was in July around the same time the credit card was used for the Chicago hotel. Ah, I see Quester has the exact date. I'm bumping the below in the event it contains some clues.

I believe the FBI assisted in the investigation of Robyn Gardner's disappearance in Aruba while on vacation with Gary Giordano and he was detained for 4 months there but never charged with her murder. The FBI would have been instrumental in getting warrants and going through homes and electronics in the US to determine if there was a murder plan but I don't believe they ever requested that GG be turned over to them. Unfortunately Robyn has never been found and Gary Giordano is still a free man. He was released from jail in Aruba after 4 months and returned to the US without being charged. He's written a book about his experience.

You mentioned this today, then I heard Dr. Phil announcing he's going to interview him on the show this fall.

On the websta account on the first, top entry, after the moneybag icon, are those a number of Chinese Yen icons? TIA

Is there an exact date of that post? TIA

I read somewhere that they had trouble checking out of the hotel too (not just getting access to the safety deposit box). And that the hotel went looking for Sheila to confirm that she would pay for the room, but they could not find her.

Maybe the hotel asked the taxi driver to wait while they found Sheila .. to confirm that she would be paying for both rooms? (Especially as everyone at the front desk seemed to know about the argument the previous day about room payment.)

I'll try to find the link ...

Here it is.

"The following day, Schaefer and Heather von Wiese Mack checked out of the hotel. They loaded their suitcases into a cab and told the driver to wait. Resort staff had asked Schaefer and girlfriend to remain in the lobby while they located Sheila von Wiese. The couple instead sneaked out of the hotel through the beach entrance."

Thank you! So they did have a plan, and it all went wrong because Sheila made it clear that no one else should have access to the safety deposit box, and the staff did not allow the pair leaving the hotel with their luggage until the second room was paid for. Good for Sheila for putting road blocks in place! Heather must be kicking herself for making the mistake of giving up her passport.

The boyfriend should speak to his Indonesian lawyer, learn how the system works, and save himself while he can. Given the long history of violence from Heather towards her mother, he could make a plea that he was a witness, and that he tried to protect Heather by covering up the murder. That's his only hope, because I'm pretty sure that without this, he will take the fall for the murder. Heather is pregnant and young, so she will have more sympathy from the courts.

I am wondering if it goes further to give help to the alleged murderers (in this case).
I can understand the help for Sheila and her family - but seeing that a family member (Heather) is at the centre of this - maybe the FBI involvement is more complex.

Still no US Lawyer on the scene.
I am wondering if Heather thought she still had access to money and was going to pay for her boyfriends lawyer - or thought that they could both be represented by the same Lawyer.
(sorry if I'm repeating others thoughts here)

Until the murder, she probably waved her mothers credit card when she wanted something, and she got what she wanted ... but that card is no good anymore. She probably can't figure out why people don't say "how high" when she says "jump".

Some have a Y maybe for Yen. Very strange all of it, and that same jacket creeps me out.

What would the charge be to the lawyer for repeating something an arrested person allegedly told them? I think that's a crock and he just doesn't want to spend the money. Who is paying this "legal team" he supposedly got together in Bali, including a lawyer? Is he charging it to SWM's credit card too?

MOO

Anyone that followed the Knox trial is familiar with the slander offence. For Elkin to suggest that the guard sexually molested Heather Mack three times is probably problematic in terms of slander.

I'm doing the same thing trying to figure out how it was a premeditated plan. It's not like all Sheila's money and estate would immediately go to Heather within a few weeks, even if the murder was committed by an armed gang. Surely, even these two immature brains knew that getting their hands on the big money would take a long time.

TS was talking about not coming back to the US, and HM was after getting some money, but the use of some credit cards, travelers checks, and trying to tap into Sheila's accounts is a silly plan to get real money, SWM's estate, without getting caught. I keep asking myself why they would want to do this in a foreign place, and certainly why the plan was so poorly thought out that they got caught so fast. Plus, HM is pregnant...why would she want to move out of the country with TS away from the familiar? A girl usually needs her mother when she's pregnant, but HM wants the money as per her own words. I could go round and round, on and on, and I do it so much I'm dizzy. Just trying to see how this was a premeditated plan.

I find what everyone has to say here so valuable in trying to understand this case. If these two had a plan then all I'm saying is it makes little sense to me.

I suspect that the credit cards that Heather used had a very high limit on them. If they could make Sheila vanish, and leave the country with their passport and the safety deposit box contents, perhaps they could have gotten away with this ... along the lines of no body, no crime ... perhaps that's what they were thinking.

W 80+ calls to 911 over past ~10 yrs, and other history of counseling (attempts), IIRC 2 placements in facilities (IDK what kind), etc.
I wonder if HM expected certain exceptions & concessions from virtually all she came in contact w.
IOW, rule breaking w no adverse consequences.

Did HM expect -
- to access hotel lock box w Mom gone.
- to continue using Mom's CCs indefinitely.
- instant probate of Mom's estate.
- unicorns flying by to spit out gold coins on her command.

Is she mentally ill or does she have an acute, chronic case of affluenza?

I had wondered this last week-- if he could be arrested. Couple of things here:

MOO

It seems everyone who comes into contact with HM has negative things happen to them.

We know HM is a poor decision maker and without speaking to anyone (like TS to tell her what to say)she seems to be making decisions that are against her best interest. (Like tell the truth, doh).

It seems to me that is the murder was an accident, wouldn't any of us be desperately trying to explain what happened? The longer she refuses to give a statement, the more I am inclined to believe she premeditated it.

If she can't take any more of "this" and she is only like what 12 days in, I am interested to see what happens once she gets to the big prison.

I wonder if TS already said what happened and we are all waiting on her to give her statement. For all we know, he could have given a statement that the police won't talk about yet until she gives hers. To me, if I was TS I would have ratted her out immediately to save myself. This is serious.

I can't wait for the day when her trial starts and she hasn't given a statement. She seems the type who will continually need to learn things the hard way, if she ever learns at all.

I agree. It astounds me that neither have made a statement yet. Again, to me that points to a slick level of sophistication. But in Bali, it does not have the affect it would in the states. They are destroying themselves.

You are so right - he's made the tv news in Chicago. Although anyone with a bit of smarts would realise what an idiot he is making those statements.

http://abc7chicago.com/news/chicago-attorney-heather-mack-not-allowed-to-see-legal-team/279954/

When people get arrested, and don;t have any attorney, they just think of a name they recognize. If that lawyer has been on t.v. or in the news, they want him or her, they don;t care about track record. They don't think about it. Most criminals aren't that smart!

We need Gitana in here to decipher this. Left in trust with no beneficiary but with the intent to provide for a minor child? Who is no longer a minor? And her brother as executor. So what will his role in all this be? Will he turn it all over to the niece who was involved in the death of his sister for her defense? Will Mr Elkin be jumping in there on HM's behalf to get the money for her?

There must be a beneficiary. That's how it's done! If none was named, it goes via intestate succession. So it would go to her daughter. Except of course if she's convicted of murder. Then it goes to the next living relations.

My guess is her brother is going to tie up loose ends quickly to make sure HM is not able to access Sheila's money, assets, credit, etc. I really believe that girl is on her own.

"Elkin said he has appointed a local Indonesian attorney to take the case and has aides on the island doing investigative work to help in her defence. Neither Heather nor Schaefer have yet been charged.
He said he has scrapped immediate plans to go to Bali because sources on the ground there have told him that he could be detained himself because of allegations he made that Heather had been sexually assaulted while in prison.
'It was completely my intention to go,' he said. 'But when my sources started telling me the authorities had the intention of detaining me I changed my mind."

Yes, it seems that defamation is a criminal act in Indonesia, with varying jail times (4½ months to 48 months) or fines as the punishment.

The term of defamation is often used to encompass both libel and slander. Slander is the making of defamatory statements in oral (spoken). Libel is the making of defamatory statements in writing. In Indonesia, defamation is considered to be criminal act as governed by the Indonesian Criminal Code.

I can just imagine this little brat in her cell, crying for herself and wishing that she didn't kill her mother because she needs her mother to get out of this mess.

The thing, too, is that she probably would not be in solitary isolation and sobbing to herself if she had made a statement (of any kind), not intimated that officials were touching her inappropriately, been thankful for nicities extended to her .....

The officials there will have no mercy for her sobbing and self pity. During the arrest, trial, and imprisonment of Schapelle Corby, we saw all kinds of hysterics and distress from Schapelle and her family. Did them not one bit of good ... in fact, it probably did Schapelle a lot of harm. The Indonesian people in Bali were offended and actively took to the streets protesting against Schapelle and her crime - which is something we had not seen before.

Question for Gitana....

If SWM's estate would have gone to HM but not if she is convicted of murdering her, would it not go to HM to use to pay for a defense in this situation? She is not even charged yet, let alone convicted. Or does it all hang in limbo waiting for the outcome of her case and in the mean time she's considered indigent?

TIA if you know how that will work.

Does the following statement, despite the lies, give us any clues?

"[HM] even told police that three masked men entered their room, making her mother angry and that she asked them out, otherwise she would call the police."

Could there be a grain of truth in it? Could it have been HM & TS who entered the room shared by SWM & HM, making her mother angry and SWM asked them to leave, otherwise SWM would call the police, then someone/s lost it???

Maybe that is why Shelia was wandering around in the lobby at 3:45am? Trying to find someone - a doorman, a security guard - to kick them out of her room?
Still wondering why Sheila was in the lobby so late at night ....

Interesting screen shot in the video at your link, too. Perhaps the cabinet from which the heavy glass murder weapon was taken?
