There is no one supporting Heather so who does she think is going to present evidence that she didn't do it? I think this is going to be fairly clear cut and those kids have no idea what's coming. They say ignorance is bliss...

Not so sure that there is no one supporting Heather, just no one who is speaking about anything regarding Heather to the media. We really have no idea what may be going on behind the scenes.

So it probably can be bought in shops there, by people with enough money.

But I do think it is far more likely that the duct tape they used was either brought by Sheila, in a smaller quantity, or obtained in the hotel somewhere .. janitor's room, maybe.


(Sorry, I was being a bit facetious in my previous post about sealing the suitcase with duct tape. :blushing:
Someone would have opened it anyway, when they felt how heavy it was and they could not find Sheila. And those kids were going nowhere without a passport. )

Totally thought the same thing about why they didn't use the duct tape to seal the suitcase SouthAussie and I think they would have if they had any left to do so rather than tie a sheet around it.

Just to add, too, Leeza Ormsby was detained in mid-February 2014 in Bali, first court appearance in late May 2014 (for formal charges, I think), then on trial at the end of June 2014. So, 4½ months from her detention until her trial in Bali.

That is not going to help in their case at all, and it wont stop the process of the case going to trial.

Unless a Legal from the US applies to the Government to work with her appointed Lawyer, there is not going to be any US representation for her.

Artana also confirmed that they will not be accompanied by a lawyer from the United States as demanded.

If afraid if HM thinks she can stand on trial day and tell the Court all about it then, she's wrong.
The hole she is digging herself is as big as a crater.
I think she was hoping to get contact with her boyfriend so that they could collaborate a story - and that's not going to happen either.

I'd say this may go to trial very quickly.
There is not a lot holding the trial from going ahead if she wont talk.

Thanks MM. So they have been deemed 'normal' and aware of their actions. Presumably that means no mind-altering interference from drugs either.

I tend to agree - no drugs, although blood test results would be good to know, but I don't think we're going to hear about that before the trial particularly as the perps are not co-operating. LE will keep shtump now about all those little gems we sleuths thrive on.

I imagine if they had been successful in getting off the island, they would have taped the suitcase up and said they were staying another 2 nights. At night, go throw the suitcase in the ocean. Go to consulate and attempt to get passport. Get off island and back to US before anyone figured out Sheila was missing.

But I wonder if they would have been able to pull this off-- get themselves to the US. Seems like there were so many problems and they were rather messy (a good plan would have at least required them to clean up a la Scott Peterson). Seems they should have stayed status quo at the St. Regis. But, we don't know how much of a struggle or what other people heard. I've heard the people in the next room having sex once and they weren't particularly loud... The walls were that thin. Seems there must have been a rage on HM's part which, to me, implies screaming. We already know they were shouting at each other in the lobby. I'm certain there would have been shouting in the room enough to get HM all enraged, "not able to take much more of it" and then "wham!" Bash Sheila's face in with the first thing she could get her hands on to shut that "b---h" up. I imagine the first blow went to her mouth. I wonder if Sheila had any broken teeth? Or maybe she was aiming for the mouth to shut her up but hit the nose area instead. Maybe Sheila saw it coming and in a split second lowered her face downward to try and protect it and HM's blow got the top of the nose, by the brain? MOO MOO MOO MOO MOO

That case really makes it clear that in Indonesia, you get punished for not admitting guilt and for refusing to talk. You get rewarded for being honest. We need more of that here.

Just to ask Gitana if you know by any chance - if they don't go to trial in Bali (which I honestly 99% doubt) would the US consider charging them at home instead? If you murder another US citizen overseas can you be charged back home?

I genuinely feel sorry for any of the poor people who stayed at the Hotel during the murder. Be hard for that not to ruin your experience in some ways. I also feel for the hotel a bit - not the greatest publicity one could ask for and it's not their fault at all that a nut job from overseas murdered her mother in their Hotel.

It looks like they are charged at the beginning of the trial...I don't think we will have to wait years for a verdict based on the recent cases I have seen which have been mentioned - Leeza, Drage, etc.

I am feeling very confident that they won't be coming home any time soon but I just wondered. So if for example you murder someone overseas and that country does not prosecute you, you could come back and get away with it unless there was pre-planning proven in the US or Origin country. That is interesting indeed...but I guess it is the same here. I know of two people who were visiting the country, one murdered the other. It was not able to be proven here and the case was closed. That person was free to fly home - well they left during the inquest the second they were finished being questioned. I don't think there is anything that the country they came from can do. Really sad isn't it in that regard...a murderer goes free.

He was tried for murder in Birmingham, Alabama, because that was where the couple married and prosecutors say he plotted Tina's death.

Alabama authorities agreed to waive the death penalty in order to get Australian authorities to release Watson back to the United States, meaning he would have faced a maximum lifetime prison sentence had he been convicted.

To me he came across as facetious...but not to go to far O/T I was just wondering if there were any other cases? I guess it would be difficult in many regards to the conviction without all of the evidence, etc. Then there would be the possibility of contamination if taken by another country that doesn't follow the same processes, etc. The defence lawyers would have too much to play with in that regard.
