On July 4, Schaefer posted on Facebook that he was leaving for Indonesia on August 4, cryptically adding that he might never come back. Then, on August 10, he posted on his page that his next destination was China. His last post on social media was a tribute to actor Robin Williams on August 12.

One tiny point: the 'reasonable explanation' HM/TS offered when the desk clerk noticed the suitcase was leaking.

Posh place, customers expect deference, possibly also slight language barriers. The desk clerk indicates the leak, HM looks, acknowledges, shrugs, mutters something incomprehensible to the clerk, HM smiles, rolls eyes.

In those circumstances, the clerk might have figured she'd done all she dare do and besides, if HM is chill with the leaking suitcase, it must be OK, even if weird.

HM's legal team might not be as up to the mark as TS's. TS has an American attorney keeping an eye on things from a distance who seems to be at least as savvy as ME. He has someone from 'Reprieve' (anti-death penalty group) who have most likely worked in Bali before.

ME might have encouraged HM to come up with a 'helpful' story so that the court will take it easy on her. I don't know just how true that actually is. Lindsey Sandiford is currently on death row for drugs. She threw other people under the bus immediately, but it didn't save her from the death penalty. One of the Bali Nine, Renae Lawrence, was also willing to name names and throw herself on the mercy of the court. She still got a life sentence, although it has been reduced, I believe, for good behavior.

TS's attorneys may feel that tipping their hand to the blabbermouth police is no guarantee of a 'light' sentence, so they might as well wait until they're actually in the courtroom to start speaking.

TS's lawyer Thomas Durkin seems to be a serious heavy-hitter international defense attorney around here and a very busy guy. Another thing I’ll put out there … was HM a sometimes a run-away girl when she fought with Sheila and tried to get her own way? “Well I’ll just run and hide and let you worry about where I am.”

Just thinking about the police reports from Oak Park saying that she sometimes ran away, and the fact that Sheila hadn’t seen her for ‘some time’ before going to Bali and had to track her down, and the 4 hours she went missing in Bali, and the lack of reporting on HM’s movements after the lobby argument, and Sheila in the lobby at such a late hour of the night, and Tommy’s 4:30am tweets.

She was definitely a run away when angry girl but I think it was more to do with "I'm just going to do what I want, when I want and there's nothing you can do about it". But yes, it did seem to happen more often when they were fighting and HM was getting cornered about her behaviour according to the police reports. I think that was more of her way of dealing with her mother in the later years than hitting and biting her. Once she was old enough to have somewhere to go and friends to pick her up or take her in, it was more common for her to take off than retaliate with violence against her mother it seemed. I think it also may have been more often after her stint in the juvenile detention home and she likely was trying extra hard not to end up back there or in actual jail once she turned 18. Nothing to do with respecting her mother and not wanting to hurt her. Everything to do with not wanting to get locked up. IMO

I think SWM was getting used to the fact that HM would disappear for hours or days on end without telling her where she was going, who she was with or what she was doing. Didn't mean she liked it or didn't still worry about her. We know HM had been gone for 4 hours at the other hotel but I think that was as of the time she emailed her friend. He didn't get another email to say how long HM had actually disappeared that day. But she did say she was scared. And I would be too if my 18yr old daughter was missing in a foreign country for 40 minutes let alone 4 hours. But I think SWM was never quite sure what to do about these missing adventures of her daughter. Especially now that she was legally an adult and the police wouldn't do anything about it with HM's history.

That's why I'm thinking that she may have disappeared once again the day TS showed up. She would have been missing around 7 hours by the time SWM may have caught up with them in the lobby of the hotel just after midnight.

I know you had a question about HM saying that before, I wonder if HM was getting ready to pull a "I'm an American citizen, take me to the US embassy" ploy. I only say that because hadn't they been to the airport and inquired about replacement passports and were directed to the embassy? I think this is Heather just grasping and it's funny the way Tommy turns quickly when she says that as if he thinks she knows something about what to say that he doesn't??

Looks like he is a busy man. And TS is not listed in that article as a client so I guess he's not very high profile. Good. The less press these two get in the US the better. Then they'll realize it's them against the Indonesian authorities and they seem to only accept the truth. Otherwise, they'll just make stuff up and keep you locked up for life.

Maybe they figure if you lie, they will too. Interesting concept. :thinking:

No, his account name was changed from Tommy Exx to Tommy Shaefer a while ago. At the same time it was set to private so it appears that someone on his "team" has his password and has locked it up for him but has not deleted it.

You know, that guy who was part of the gang of theives who busted into her Mother's room, killed her and that they were so lucky to have fled from. Only to be thwarted on the way to the US embassy by a suspicious cab driver who dropped them off at a hotel so they could have sex and then drove on to the police station with her mother's body in a suitcase.

There never was anything on there about HM, other than one post with her name and some hearts or something, not that long before the murder. I wish we had grabbed screen shots because I can't remember the date. But there were no pics and he didn't list himself as being in a relationship with her. His page was all about Rachel.

This was/is his primary FB account. It has since been set to private by a member of his "team" and the name has been changed from Tommy Exx to Tommy Shaefer. This is the account where the screen grabs have come from. His most recent post on this account was the Robin Williams one that is posted up thread. It was posted sometime on August 12th.

The links are working for me. Might be an issue at your end. Although facebook did throw me off tonight and I had to sign back in. Maybe they are having issues.

Good find on the time of that picture. I see the same time too in EST so it may actually be an hour earlier Central Time. And it is in line with TS leaving at 1:15 am on Aug 10th if that is the flight he took. Perhaps he and his cousin were going to grab a bit to eat before heading to the airport? He would have had to be there by about 10pm on August 9th to check in.

Now if they were actually at the airport in the picture and he had already checked in and was grabbing a cigarette outside before heading through security, there are other American Airlines flights that leave between 7-8pm and stop in other US cities before switching over to a Cathay Pacific flight to Hong Kong. So it could also have been any of these flights he was taking with 2 stops. Either way, he would still be catching the same flight CX785 leaving at 10:10am from Hong Kong to Denpasar on the Monday no matter what flight he took and would still have arrived around 3pm on Aug 11th.
