Bali suitcase killer Heather Mack arrives for the first day of her trial :skip: :skip: :skip:

A PREGNANT teenager allegedly asked her lover to find hitmen to kill her wealthy mother for $US50,000 and the couple also discussed other ways of disposing of her.

These allegedly included smothering the mother with a pillow or making her death look like a suicide on the beach.

Prosecutors allege that some of the grisly plan was contained within text messages the pair sent each other in the lead up to the killing.

Baby bump ... American Heather Mack at Denpasar District Court for her first appearance. :cheer:

The bombshell allegations were revealed for the first time at the Bali murder trial of Heather Mack, who is about seven months pregnant, and the father of her unborn baby, Tommy Schaefer.

The young lovers from the US faced Denpasar District Court charged with the premeditated and brutal murder of wealthy Chicago socialite Sheila von Wiese Mack at the five-star St Regis Resort in Nusa Dua on August 12 last year when the mother and daughter were on holiday.

It is alleged that on the day of Mrs Mack’s death, Mack asked her boyfriend to meet her in room 317 of the resort. He arrived about 8.30am with a heavy glass fruit bowl with a stainless steel handle.

He was let into the room by Mack and it was then that Mrs Mack was allegedly brutally bashed to death with the fruit bowl and her body stuffed into a suitcase. An autopsy showed that she had defensive wounds and had fought hard for her life. :(

(Still wearing the rubber band ring, I see. Can't be seen as an unmarried mother in Indonesia. Cross hanging from her neck, as well.)

Tommy Schaefer from Chicago, could face the death penalty if found guilty of the murder of Sheila von Wiese-Mack.

"He is charged with premeditated murder, torture that led to death and hiding or disposal of the body," state prosecutor Eddy Wijaya told reporters after the first day of hearings at Denpasar District Court.

Mack, who is being tried separately, is charged with assisting Schaefer in the murder.

The two, who arrived at the courthouse handcuffed together before being led to separate cells, did not submit a plea. The next court appearance is set for next Wednesday.

Prosecutors alleged that Schaefer, who wept as he entered court, "blindly hit" Von Wiese Mack with a bowl in a fit of rage ...

"Wiese tried to push the handle towards Schaefer and it hit his mouth, making him angrier and more emotional. Using both hands, Schaefer blindly hit her as hard as he could between her eyes and nose with the fruit bowl." He then continued hitting her face on the bed "until she stopped moving", he added. :(

WOW about those text messages! So clearly premeditated.

(And this is totally petty, but is she wearing leather pants to court??)

OMG OMG!! They actually had text messages about a hit for hire still on their phones?!? Or were the FBI or the Indonesian equivalent able to extract deleted information from their phones?

Well that answers the question of why TS made the effort to go to Bali at the end of their trip. He had a job to do.

So do we know if HM will get the same conviction if it's proven that she planned but did not commit the murder? Do we have any examples of people who hire others and what they are charged and convicted of? Isn't that the situation with the woman arrested recently with the Australian husband?

And there it is-- the premeditation.

I assume it's standard that people wear white shirts and black pants to court? I noticed the two guys from the Bali 9 were always wearing that as well. Plus the other women sitting with HM in the holding cell waiting for their cases.

Taken in context with the "it's what it do" comment (or however that was phrased)...pretty damning, I'd say!

At about 3.40am on the day of her death, Mrs Mack and her daughter were seen having a blazing row in the hotel foyer.

The pair arrived at Denpasar District Court yesterday handcuffed to each other. Mack is now about seven months pregnant with Schaefer’s child and said the baby was well. Mack says the unborn baby, due on April 1, is a little girl.

About two weeks ago she suffered contractions and was hospitalised but she told reporters she and the baby are now doing well.

Mack was represented in court by a new lawyer after a recent falling out with the previous lawyers.

TS looks and acts scared and emotional. Nothing from HM. She's calm, cool and collected while discussing her pregnancy with reporters. She probably figures that since she didn't actually kill her mother she'll get a slap on the wrist. Looks like she is playing lawyer roulette as well. Reminds me so much of Jodi Arias already.

WTH was TS thinking when he agreed to this? And it's a little confusing but it sounds like what I suggested before. The premeditation didn't happen until the 3:40am fight in the lobby? So did HM ask TS to find a hit man in Bali? At first I thought she was already trying to get a hit man in the US before the trip but it's not reading that way if the whole thing was over the supposed comment SWM made about her marrying a black man with money.

In the photos from Daily Mail, do I spy TS's mom in the front row with the white glasses and red cell phone?

From the looks of the photos, it seems TS has realized his goose is cooked.

"The court heard they stuffed Ms Von Wiese Mack's body into the suitcase. Heather Mack sat on the suitcase so her boyfriend could close it."

Upthread, someone posted a comical question about checking the suitcase for HM's cheek marks. How sad that they were right on target. Horrifying.

Also, this story adds that TS tortured SVWM. I guess it wasn't enough to bash her face in:

Sheila may have said something like she married a man with a job and who therefore had money. Ya know. It's not just that TS was mixed race-- he is young, jobless homeless and has no money...

TS crying...for SWVM? Or most likely himself. He's screwed.

Let's just hope they've got text messages or that TS will testify against her. Looks like he already has. Told them about HM's request for him to find a hired murderer.
