Sheila may have said something like she married a man with a job and who therefore had money. Ya know. It's not just that TS was mixed race-- he is young, jobless homeless and has no money...

...and he was a thief!!!

In the photos from Daily Mail, do I spy TS's mom in the front row with the white glasses and red cell phone?

Yes that does appear to be her. So we know she made it there for the trial. Maybe that's why he is so emotional?

The link above does not mention how long ago HM asked TS to find a murderer for hire, $50,000 mentioned was this info in texts or did TS admit they were looking for a hitman? Mrs Mac deserves justice. The thought in Bali more strict sentences are given to drug cases than murder is worrisome. Jmo

ciao

The difference between the appearance of the two is really shocking. HM clearly isn't worried at all. TS has probably been doing all he could for the last four months to believe this is all a bad dream, that HM and her $ and her 'attitude' would somehow get them off. The court appearance probably reminded him - this is very very real. Seeing his mother there might be marginally comforting, but it's also a reminder of what he casually threw away and might never see again.

I don't remember the charges exactly, but I think there was something like 'aiding' that comes with a very short sentence - less than two years, IIRC. I think HM expects to get off on that charge.

If they've got cellphone texts discussing how to get rid of SWM - wow. I wonder if HM and TS knew they had the texts? Of course, they'll try to dismiss them as two teenage lovers venting, but under the circumstances..... sharper eyes than mine spotted TS's mom in the courtroom, but where was the rest of HM's 'legal team'?

Wow. Would love to see those texts! Just as we all thought, this was planned. What a buch of dummies. Definately for money IMO.

OMG!!!! The New Year has been keeping me busy...can't wait to read this later after work! I knew there would be something uncovered somewhere that would show at the least HM had planned this. So that is why TS wanted to see his old friend...he wanted someone to tell him not to go.

I've always thought that's why he wanted to see his old friend - he wanted a sane opinion. Deep down, I think he was starting to get a bit uneasy as he realized that HM wasn't just spouting big talk, she was serious - and seriously 'cray-cray'. But I guess the picture she painted was just too tempting and I don't think any of his rapper friends were going to tell him to back out.

Buried somewhere in one of the chat/blog links on this site (the one where HM says she admires her mother - not!), IIRC she mentioned having had one serious relationship that was over at the time she was posting. I've often wondered if that was Von Mar.

ETA: I now read that the prosecutor says the $50K offer text was sent while TS was still in the US. That might explain FBI involvement. I wonder if HM could end up like Joran Van der Sloot - finish up a Bali sentence and get sent back to the US to stand trial for 'murder-for-hire' (don't know exactly what the charge would be).

Yes, that's what I think as well.

So, am I correctly reading that HM is no longer represented by Elkins et al? That is what it sounds like to me...and she is being tried first? Ok, answered my own questions. I wonder when she and Elkins had a falling out and over what...when was the last time we heard from them...it was from the "baby's" lawyer, right? Any speculations on the pace at which the trials will proceed, given they will not be entering their pleas until next week?

One of the articles posted today says HM had contractions and had to go to hospital to stop them.
Which brings me back to the breastfeeding issue:

Most people think breastfeeding is easy-- pop a breast in baby's mouth and voila. The reality it isn't that easy. For me baby #1 was a champ. We had it easy. Baby #2 had clicking issues and we had to troubleshoot that for a while and baby #3 was rolling tongue back so looked like breastfeeding but only gained 1 ounce in 2 weeks-- that goodness I trusted my instinct. I knew he wasn't gaining weight and everyone told me he was and he looked fine and the ped's office would weigh in metric and then convert and even THEY converted wrong. I finally took matters into my own hands and went to the hospital and back to that lactation consultant and we figured out the problem. I had to then supplement with high calorie formula while wearing a medela SNS set up (tube with formula hung on mom with the opening taped on nipple so baby would get the hang of nursing while also getting formula.)

Plus if the baby winds up a preemie, she can probably kiss breastfeeding goodbye.. Though they may have her pump for a while...

There is NO Way HM cares enough or is motivated or smart enough to troubleshoot (though she wlll be housed with a group of women so maybe they could help).

Just some thoughts--

If anyone catches an article with comments from a Chicago or oak park blog or newspaper, let me know. I love reading comments from people in the area....

There are comments in the Chicago Tribune's AP story, but they seem to be from strangers.

WGN-TV's facebook also has comments:

Thanks, but that link redirected me to the story. This happens sometimes on certain sites (like AbC). Oh well.

BBM: From date when charged to date of sentence ... 6 months for the 1st two Bali Nine members ... 7 months for Schapelle Corby ... other cases I've seen take 5 months and less.

They do not go to court day after day until the trial is over. A day or two here, a day or two there, is how it seems to work there. Maybe one or two days each week.

At about 3.40am on the day of her death, Mrs Mack and her daughter were seen having a blazing row in the hotel foyer.

The pair arrived at Denpasar District Court yesterday handcuffed to each other. Mack is now about seven months pregnant with Schaefer’s child and said the baby was well. Mack says the unborn baby, due on April 1, is a little girl.

About two weeks ago she suffered contractions and was hospitalised but she told reporters she and the baby are now doing well.

Mack was represented in court by a new lawyer after a recent falling out with the previous lawyers.

TS looks and acts scared and emotional. Nothing from HM. She's calm, cool and collected while discussing her pregnancy with reporters. She probably figures that since she didn't actually kill her mother she'll get a slap on the wrist. Looks like she is playing lawyer roulette as well. Reminds me so much of Jodi Arias already.

WTH was TS thinking when he agreed to this? And it's a little confusing but it sounds like what I suggested before. The premeditation didn't happen until the 3:40am fight in the lobby? So did HM ask TS to find a hit man in Bali? At first I thought she was already trying to get a hit man in the US before the trip but it's not reading that way if the whole thing was over the supposed comment SWM made about her marrying a black man with money.

To me, HM has a 'screw you' look. "So what if we murdered my mother? She deserved it. She wouldn't give me my money. Get lost, reporters." She looks angry.

In the video at the first news.com.au link, she even tries to pat TS' back as she is separated from him and led to the women's holding cell. As if to say 'It's okay Tommy, we'll get out of this. You did good. Stick to the story.'

Stupid boy, he completely screwed his life up getting involved with her.

I felt sorry for him at first because I do think he was a lost boy who was completely overcome by HM. But it seems the undisputed fact of the matter is... He beat a woman's face in and killed her.

Oh yeah ... I don't feel sorry for him at all. At times in the past I have almost felt sorry for him. But he is an ijit. He was evidently in it for the money too. And savagely beat a woman to death for it .. and went on to stuff her unceremoniously into a suitcase .. and ran away to a hotel to bonk his babe, after a quick trip to the airport. Down he goes.

They'll face the firing squad these two. Bali doesn't mess around, especially when it comes to wayward tourists.
