Casey Anthony: Judge will rule on plan to sell her story to pay creditors

By Amy Pavuk, Orlando Sentinel
8:55 a.m. EDT, April 10, 2013

excerpts:

Meininger's attorney, Allan Watkins, said Tuesday that the trustee has been contacted by three people who have interest in purchasing Anthony's life story.

Meininger received a written offer for $10,000 to prevent Anthony or others from publishing or profiting from her story in the future.

Watkins also said he has received a $12,000 bid, and a New York man contacted him today about another offer.

Florida judge delays decision on selling rights to Casey Anthony's life story

By Elizabeth Chuck, Staff Writer, NBC News

"... Nonetheless, one bidder has already offered $10,000 – to bury her life story, he says – and more are waiting in the wings, according to her bankruptcy trustee."

"Meininger said he's received at least two written offers from people interested in buying the exclusive rights, and others who have expressed interest."

"We haven't really discussed figures, which is one of the reasons why we wanted to set up auction procedures at the hearing," he said Tuesday morning ahead of the hearing. He did say one of the offers was for $12,000.

NBC's Kerry Sanders reported on TODAY that an Austin, Texas, attorney, James Schober, put in an offer of $10,000, but that bid was made on condition of preventing the story from ever getting out so Anthony would never profit from it.
"As much as I would like to think otherwise, Casey Anthony's story has value," Schober said.

Schober testified in Tuesday's court hearing via phone, WESH.com reported, and issued a statement explaining the reasons why he wanted to buy the rights to Anthony's story.

""(First)... to demonstrate that the asset has present value;
second, to ensure that the proceeds from the sale of the asset are applied to the payment of her existing debts (which is a basic premise of Chapter 7 bankruptcy); and third, to ensure that the sale of the asset takes place in the clear light of day," he said.

No specifics about the second offer were given in court on Tuesday, other than that it came from a New York man who was looking to tell the story for entertainment value.

So, it appears that the latest tactic is for Casey Anthony to give away FREE INTERVIEWS to whichever of the big networks will agree to her conditions.

She must approve all questions and she must be in charge of the "project".

It is said that her attorneys are IN negotiations with the networks .... the public will get confirmation when the "interviews" pop up on the networks, and boycotters will be busy.
The next Hearing on May 30, 2013 will most likely reveal to the bankruptcy judge that her story is not for sale by the Trustee, because she has already given it away for FREE.

How's that for a big "F-you" to the bankruptcy Trustee and his plan to sell her story to pay Creditors.

Do you have a link for that "news"? A quick scan of CNN and ABC doesn't bring me up anything and the Florida locals don't seem to know...

Or is it that nobody cares enough to bother to report it as "news"?

I did a search and the only articles that I found were from 2011 and JB was involved. Would not surprise me that her current attys would put out that story in case there was something on the computer that might point in that direction.

Thanks ?noanswer - Like you I didn't see anything current - however my search was brief.

I was hoping it was true because all we've had for the last few weeks is this never-ending lather rinse repeat stuff - and sitting here wondering if she really has the nerve to get the right stuff to actually wipe her hard drive clean.....

I don't think "nerve" has anything to do with it. She would do it in a heartbeat. She is just mean and conniving.

Well it's hard to imagine her doing anything free, so IMO there has to be an under the table payment arrangement.
As before, she will probably get $$$ for photographs (licensing fees). :banghead:

That made me laugh out loud! Yes I agree with you - but I also think she is the sneaky type - behind the scenes conniving and meanness - and a bully.

But I think she is actually afraid of judges, police and prosecutors in "real time" and hasn't got the guts to do something she would get caught at.

There is no way she or her lawyers could explain a completely wiped laptop -it takes a deliberate act and no way is it a "whoopsie". Software is just too sophisticated for a "novice" to "wreck".

Not that this account hacker is a novice of course.....

I don't know where Think Tank got her information, but Blaiss is tweeting about the same "no pay" interview. I hope nobody is interested-even for free! Who wants to see her interviewed with the questions she wants to answer?

JB's book is 210,838 on Amazon and the price has increased to 19.16!

My thinking is that she would be doing the FREE interviews on the major networks, "for now", only to thwart the bankruptcy proceeding and to stop the Trustee from being granted the rights to sell her story. She would withhold any real "story" for a later payday.

Then, after the bankruptcy case is finished and closed, she will be free to do any PAYING gigs and keep all the money for herself and not have to pay any Creditors.

I would rather see her on the stand, under oath, in the Zenaida, Kronk, and TXEquuSearch civil cases, answering the questions that THOSE attorneys ask her.

Thanks Mac66, Blaiss continues to hold the flag high but IMO much of what she tweets doesn't come to fruition as fact.

Didn't the one or two "interviews" she did last year end up exactly like that - she wanted to say she wasn't fat - and only gave a highly scripted "conversation"? Who would possibly be interested in that? With the Arias trial front and centre, Andrea Knox's book out and poverty claim, and the Zimmerman trial drawing close - who is interested in hearing the "all about nothing" interviews from her?

I see no "15 minutes of fame" in her future time slots. Used up, burnt up, all done. Surely the public is now only interested in retribution.

I take it that no one bothered to watch with the huge zero response to your post. I couldn't find it on their site so it looks like they didn't even bother to save it.

Everyone is so over FCA and just waiting on Karma to do her in. She's living in a fear for her life because she knows in her own mind what she has done and I hope that the memory of precious little Caylee forever haunts her.

And everyday that passes it becomes more so. She is old news and hopefully any new news about her is to her detriment!

Yes, I think all of us - and in particularly the "old faithful guard" feel this way - I can speak for myself and perhaps more of the other members when I say I miss the days of camaraderie - when we all worked towards a fairly common goal - which was justice for Caylee Those days were fast paced, incredibly packed with new information day after day and along with the information filled with horror at what this child must have suffered, we incredibly really had a lot of just gut spilling laughter.

I miss those days - and I miss the friends I made. And I miss that time in my life when I was hopeful - no convinced that our justice system would bring an obviously guilty mother to her legal punishment.

But no - it wasn't to be. We were shattered, many so much so they can barely cope with returning to this board - even with the time that has passed.

And still we hope for justice. Are we fools? I don't think so.

I started chuckling to myself - because I just realized what I was going to type. At the risk of disagreeing with many of my fellow members - (and wow how many times have I written that since 2009?):blushing: Caylee is a beautiful child whose memory will always shine bright. But for me she also serves as a reminder of all the children in my country and yours - who die at an evil hand and do not receive justice.

So it gets harder and harder for me to return here - because Caylee didn't receive justice and everyday brings more news of more abused and murdered children. Will there ever be an end to all this cruelty? :tears:

Yes, I think as long as careless people end up pregnant and wind up resentful of the children they bare then we will continue to have abused neglected and terribly murdered kids. I still remember this trial going over in my mind the events of Caylees last day, the mom ster looking her in the face and applying tape. I had this tiny doubt that maybe it wasn't premeditated but the sleuthing that happened here last November by azlawer and jwz really sealed it. I too am waiting for Karma and also know that Caylee has changed me. I hug my kids tighter and appreciate them.

Thank you, LG. You speak for me so well; especially the parts that I've bolded.

It is really a truly depressing situation. Made even more difficult due to the fact that Casey Anthony continues to be given special consideration since this case has garnered such notable public attention. It is as though Casey Anthony is the poster child for how to bully the legal system into acquitting you because it's improper to step on anyone's constitutional rights. (Never mind the victim's, Caylee Anthony, rights!)

Thank God for ThinkTank who keeps us up to date and on course with all the current facts of what's going on ~ some of which seems hopeful that there is still a possibility of legal punishment for Caylee's murderer. That is the only thing that keeps me checking back here (much more often than I feel comfortable sharing). :blushing:

I look forward to the time that I will find gratification in the content of this forum and our legal system's overdue discipline of Casey Anthony for the premeditated murder of her sweet, innocent babe.
