To take this a step further, look at how David Smith defended and stood by his wife Susan. He didn't believe that she could or would ever hurt her children, much like BD is defending SA.

David's defense of his wife could have simply been because she was the mother of these children. SA is nothing, IMO, except BD's play toy.

Respectfully, your analogy seems more fitting of Clint's defense of Billie.

David Smith was not living with Susan and was primarily relying upon his knowledge of what he'd seen during the time they were married. CD says he does not believe BD would hurt Hailey, but he does not have first-hand knowledge of the dynamic between BD and SA as he did not live with them.

Hailey DID live with them, and wanted to live with her father. That tells me something.

In My Opinion ...

The "LACK" of emotions from BD in her public appearances is very "telling" to me ... I remember the first time I saw any REAL emotion by Billie was when Mark Klaas went to CC to help find Hailey, and even in her presser, to me she was lacking emotions.

There is a big difference between BD's media appearances and the mother of the 4 year old boy Juliani's mother - Tabitha, when her son was kidnapped by her ex-BF and unfortunately, later found in the canal. Bless this little boy and his family.

Tabitha's pleas for her son was heartbreaking ! She was so distraught and you could really see that she loved her son and was doing everything possible to bring home alive.

When comparing BD to Tabitha, and Desiree Young - Kyron's mother ...

I SEE a big difference in that Billie is cold and unemotional -- whereas Tabitha and DY are truly devastated and full of emotions !

My opinion ... Prayers for Hailey, Kyron, Juliani ...

ITA with you Passion. I have a cousin who is a nurse and has always exhibited a great deal of "control" over everything in her life and over situations, and just never shows emotions (at least not on the outside or even around family that much). I am reminded of an incident when her mother was in the hospital a couple years back and had some pretty extensive health problems and was in ICU. I went in to see her and my cousin broke down but for only about 60 seconds. She cried and put her head on my shoulder. Then almost as suddenly as she broke down, she pulled herself back together, as if taking charge again. Not saying it has anything to do with BD being a nurse, but just happened to think about my cousin who is a nurse.

Nor did David continue to support Susan in any way after she confessed days later. As a matter of fact, he wanted her to get the DP. Granted we do no have a confession here or even an arrest yet. Nevertheless BD continues to discount what LE has learned (obviously it's enough to name him a suspect) in favor of Shawn. (who she has known..what..2.5 yrs?) Rarely does the spouse or even ex-spouse want to believe that the other could have anything to do with something like this. We ALL tend to believe that we know everything about our significant others, when in reality time after time we hear of cases where that's just not the case.. JMO..

I see David Smith from time to time..I don't know him personally..he manages a grocery store nearby. (not where I usually shop) Every time I do though, it takes me back years ago to when his boys were murdered. I have wondered since he does work at a place where he is accessible to the public if people still question him about that tragic period in his life. He has remarried and I know has at least one more child, (maybe more IDK) but we all know that while all of our children are blessings..having another never replaces the one(s) that we lost..

Either way, the one thing I do agree with BD on is that is WAS NOT anyone elses responsibility to let her know. I would think that keeping up with things such as that is the ONLY thing that would matter at the moment..and yet..that too is the fault of someone else. To be honest, I couldn't believe that she had the nerve to even say that..

I hear panic in her voice, concealing the truth about what happen to Hailey. What I want to know is why it took her so long to have a media presser about Hailey but it wasn't really about Hailey at all. Yeah I know she went on NG but this is different. This presser is only about clearing her name and tell SA's timeline with a tad of concern for her daughter.

She has not once addressed "I had nothing to do with Haley's disappearance". She wants to clear up a lot of things, but at no time does she get to the point.

I think BD had to choose her words carefully, and that is why she has begun to read from a prepared script. Some of her comments spoke volumes - where she revealed a lot of emotion when defending Shawn, but exhibited a lack of concern or distress when mentioning HD. She has demonstrated that she "loves" Shawn, and they will be together after this "mess" is over.

I can say that she shares some characteristics of someone who has been abused either as a child, or in more adult relationships. Having not done a formal interview with her, it would be grossly inappropriate to attempt to say that she has or has not endured such past life events.

I believe that BD regrets making those appearances on NG. She is aware that people have compared her statements with her previous versions. She has been confronted with inconsistencies, and now she is going to avoid speaking in public situations. She knew about the balloon release, she didn't go, didn't show, because she knows she can get tripped without a prepared script. She did her self-serving press release with a script her friend helped her compare. That didn't clear up inconsistencies, it only made more for her. She has learned that no matter how she words something, a lie is a lie and the public is not as gullible as she would like to believe. If she really has no access to a computer, somebody is reading blogs and relaying comments to her which she has to amend. Problem is, she has spun a huge web of deceit as to why her daughter is not in her house. Now BD is trapped, in her spidey-web spin, in her own house.

If LE came to you today and said your significant other committed a crime, would you defend them until it was proven to you? That's all I'm saying.

If my husband of 27 yrs, the father of my children, was accused today of committing harm to one of our kids I would defend him vigorously. The man I know could never hurt them. Then again he has never once threatened my life, and added that people would 'remember it for a long time.'
And he doesn't order custom made leather serial killer masks over the internet.

But SA was a guy she had dated a couple of years, not the children's father, and he had a recent death threat incident which scared her enough to call 911 all throughout the day. He admits, in his own words, that he was the last one to see Hailey, and he failed 3 polygraphs. The writing is on the wall, but she thought for a little bit, and decided not to read it.

If my child went missing and my husband/partner was the last to see him i would WORK with LE to try and find my child. I would NOT keep changing the storyline just to help the person who has been named suspect in my childs disappearance. With me my missing child would come first before anyone else...but i guess thats just me .

Based on her public appearances, I don't believe Billie has a sense or urgency in locating her daughter or figuring out what happened to her. She seems more concerned about shielding herself and Shawn. Whether it's because she knows Hailey is fine or because she knows Hailey is dead, not sure.

When she made her odd plea for Hailey to call 911 on Nancy Grace, I was dumbfounded. It was so awkward and inappropriate, imo. It still has me scratching my head trying to figure out Billie's motive to make that particular plea. Her daughter had been missing over 3 weeks, Marc Klaas had been with her all day - and that was her message to Hailey? Is she again trying to make the point that LE is bad and they still won't give her phone back? Is she sending Hailey a message not to call that number because she realizes now that of course it's being monitored? Does she just want us to think that Hailey could have been abducted to take the heat off of her and Shawn? Regardless of which one, the plea really isn't about Hailey or anything that could help Hailey; of course she knows to call 911 and even if she called Billie's phone, LE would surely not be letting Billie's phone go unmonitored (though I doubt they would answer calls from Billie herself or Billie's friends making test calls - they've got a list of incoming names and numbers that they'd let go unanswered, imo).

I agree. And if someone is going to host a balloon launch, wouldn't you think contacting the mother would be #1 on the list? I agree, family, friends, or even strangers might say "we'll see you on such/such date for the launch". Then again, BD and her couch have not been strangers lately.
