The wording is concerning :

" Such a waste of time and money, and they were no help in locating my wife who magically disappeared and is believed dead at sea..."

Who else from that tour would be missing someone ?

Although if someone escorted her to her tent at 2am --that means someone was awake and alert. Possibly to watch out for the tourists ?

Did you catch MAGICALLY disappeared? Not mysteriously. Dead AT sea. Who’s language is that? Old sailor?
After 48 hours what was the tour company going to do? It’s a speck in the ocean. You could walk from end to end in 5 minutes probably. 12 palm trees? And a caretaker? I’d freak out. Like Alcatraz.

You don't even know! Mickey, really parties in Vegas. What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas.
Ha- I accidentally included part of a reply I had started to the earlier posts about Larry Lujeck. Realized after I posted! I’ve since edited.

In any case, yes, many people do things that their family members don’t realize. Especially when they are adults and have long since moved away.

MOO.

What concerned me about the "toilet on the island" is that they need to "flush the toilet with the bucket of water from the ocean." Sounds a little risky to be getting a bucket of water from the ocean at night.

Also, I've seen it mentioned a few times that there is a "caretaker" on the island.

Here is a quote from a tourist who stayed on the island in a tent:

"At the end of the day we arrived at Randezvous Caye, which was our first overnight stop. A tiny strip of sand, with a few huts and not much more. The island, even though uninhabited, does have some facilities ( like the toilet ), and there’s a caretaker there as well. We got a quick tutorial on how to pitch the tent, which were our sleeping quarters for the night. And most importantly how to flush the toilet with the bucket of water from the ocean."

That is eye opening! I can’t find that comment unless it is the spanish one? Has it been deleted or am I missing it?

I am editing this post because I put an incorrect link on this original one.

Here is another quote about the bucket for the toilet. This sounds so dangerous to me - retrieving water at night!

Raggamuffin Tours 3 Day Sailing Trip | Belize | Little Wanderbook
"At night we are greeted by a heavy storm and I am glad Kevin checked my tent pegs before dinner… There is no luxury here, you flush the toilet with a bucket of water from the ocean and there are no possibilities to shower."

Regarding the video post #61, on pg 4, there is a clear aerial view of the cay. There is a dock, and in that location the water is at its deepest. (I had wondered whether the cat was anchored or at a dock) It looks as though it was docked. Around the rest of the cay you can see sandbanks and reefs formations in what looks to be quite shallow waters. I would think if she went into the water for whatever reason, she would have been found in the shallow areas where likely there is not much current activity. But if she walked on that dock, and somehow fell in that deeper water, she could have been taken by currents. Have they done aerial searches?
I used to spend a lot of time in various places in the Caribbean and Bahamas (though never Belize). Flying in a small plane over some of those areas which appear similar to the aerial view of this cay, one can see everything the water is so clear.
I wonder if she took a stroll on the dock, or even got into the catamaran maybe to sleep in it rather than in the tent, and something happened. Is the dock lit at night?

Such a waste of time and money? Really? And I am shocked that someone would be writing reviews amidst the disappearance of his partner, I’m sorry but something is so wrong with this picture. MOO IMO

I'm so glad you noticed that I posted the wrong link. My apologies.

Here it is the link with the quote about filling a bucket with ocean water to flush the toilet:

Thank you for getting the link! That link also has pics and names of the crew, from January 2019.

I wonder if the crew would have kept a full bucket by the bathroom? I can see this being an issue if not, and you got the bucket and water and for whatever reason a misstep landed you in the water. Hmmm

My DD taught English (and surf class) in Ecuador
A shower was walking outside nearly nekked with 2 buckets
1.Pour first bucket over your head
2.lather up your body
3.Pour second bucket over your head = shower

Has anyone seen Alison’s middle name or birthday in msm? Doing a little case search in Arizona and wanting to confirm what I see.

Superb question @whitelilac!

I have not seen it mentioned anywhere that there has been an aerial search.

The reviews online recommend bringing a flashlight for when you walk to the toilet on that island. I haven't yet found any information on battery-operated lights on the island.

3 Days Later – Alison MacKenzie is Still Missing! | Channel5Belize.com
“She was just coming there because our father passed away last year and then our step-father passed away two months ago. So, she was just going there to try to get a break from life here. “

It is probably so surreal & ethereal there at night. I can only imagine.
Because of her loss, grief, erratic behavior ....did she just check out?
Enough time passed ...and the water carried her away?

MOO
Yeah, considering that and looking back at her photos I'm starting to lean towards this over a drunken accident. It's crappy to leave your family with even MORE grief than what you were in but if you're in such an isolated and surreal location I can imagine it being easier to distance yourself from that. These Google reviews the boyfriend is leaving, too. They don't seem like you would expect from a frantic loved one and they don't seem calculated like a killer's but they might seem like what someone who's not all that surprised might post.

Search Efforts Called Off; F.B.I. to Join Investigation for Missing Woman | Channel5Belize.com

Today, Operations Officer of the Belize Coast Guard Lieutenant Roque Canul messaged to say, “We have now concluded the search mission. It’s five days today and we think the chance of survival is nil. Our search policy is 72 hours but we had extended it for another day. I sympathize with the family but we had to put a cut off time.” On Monday, Canul told us that MacKenzie was not acting oddly on Friday night before she vanished. He lamented that authorities weren’t called in – which he believes could have prevented this tragedy:

“I really want to stress on the importance of being attentive from the part of the tour guides. If the information was that she was behaving erratic, that is something that should have considered from the beginning instead of letting it pass by without informing relatives or relevant authorities; perhaps, it would have been something that could have been avoided.”

Just reading about this, sounds awful to me. Sleeping in a tent on a beach with a bunch of strangers? On a small rock island? Going on a boat, where you use a bucket of sea water to flush the toilet? Well, I suppose it was adventurous.

I will say, that what I do on vacation, is definitely not the same stuff that I do when I am at home. So, whatever her sister says Alison does or doesn't do at home, I would accept that maybe Alison drinks, or acts completely differently while on vacation.
Aww, c’mon you guys, where is your sense of adventure? Lol To me, it sounds like a wonderful trip, almost living off the grid. Camping on an island, sand, tents, mattresses, sea water to flush toilets. Sounds like fun. I love camping so this would have been right up my alley. I guess Alison was my kind of gal. She and I would have ended up friends, besties. IMO

So they are giving up on her. Why she wasn’t reported missing earlier is a great question. Why wasn’t she? Who was trying to hide what? MOO

There were aerial searches. I've read so many articles now that I don't have the link. It was the local police that said there were aerial searches. If I can find it, I will come back and post it.
