Hello Websleuthers, long time lurker and first time poster here. I am from within 30 miles within where BK was found. I'm not sure who's working this but I saw the story here first a few months ago.

This area can be very rural and I checked on a local story which was running for this area and came back here to compare pics. So I'm putting this out here for second opinions and to drive everyone else nutso comparing pics.

Would these two be related?

New local story for second opinions

Welcome Peliman! BK was discovered in 2004 which would rule out this case simply based on dates. Your perspective is valuable to us, so hang in there and keep suggesting!

Having said all that, west can also get extremely rural. The county I'm in Effingham is huge and goes as far north as the Savannah river and still come close to Richmond Hill on the other side and west of Savannah. I'm 25 miles west of Savannah.

Actually the more I think of it the more it's possible the whole Kyle story went under the radar here. I'd advise the group with info to contact the Effingham Sheriffs Dept. and to keep reminding them about the Kyle story. Numbers and names are in the story. This could be a huge resource for you.

Snipped for length-the story did go under the radar-Richmond Hill first responders figured he was a local bum who was rolled. There was an incident report filed but nothing else-once his tox screens came back and he began to speak, everyone realized that he was something different than a bum...oops. He showed no evidence of long term alcohol or substance abuse...or short term for that matter. He did not have a regional accent and could not say what his own name was or where he was from. It took folks a while to put the pieces together, and then it was too late to look for evidence associated with his assault.

Hello believe,

Please understand when I posted it wasn't because of a missing person. It was posted as in "are these two related?" this coming from the general location which he was found. Is this a relative?

Finding the person makes it much easier if they are but are they?

This is what I suspect and my question regarding his identity becomes.

Does he have local connections or was he transient, a tourist?

If he does have local connections let me explain this. I haven't heard the local buzz. If he does have local connections, whoever is handling this will have to connect with the right people to move things in the right direction locally. The only reason I'm familiar with this story is because the topic caught my attention months ago. Not because of anything I heard locally.

So, you're saying that his case hasn't even been shown around that area as much as it should've been?

Well let's say I'm connected but sometimes gone days at a time, this happened in 2004 and I've only seen it first here a couple months ago. No, I have not seen the local buzz I might normally see. This is a huge spawling area and has it's fair share of unsolved crimes and cold cases.

This is not one I've seen or made aware of.

Carol Wood,

I think that they both kind of resemble BK - I would contact Utah Missing Persons if I were you - what can it hurt??

Utah Missing Persons- Bryan Taylor, missing since 4/2004 and Steven Anderson 6/2004

http://publicsafety.utah.gov/bci/UTAHmissingpersons.html#stevenanderson
------------------------------------------------------
Utah: Bryan Taylor:
Pro: His ears are closer to BK's than most.
Con: Only 41 yrs old.
BK top of ears line up above his eyebrow and the bottom of ear lines up right before tip of nose.

Utah: Steven Anderson:
Pro: 51 now, weight, height good.
Con: ears a little low set. Nose not as thin as BK's.
Charley Project has him listed as well, but the exact same info as Utah missing persons.

carolwood: great job finding these new missing people for us to check out. Wouldn't it be great if one of these was BK?

This is a tip that was posted on the message boards as well as received here at WS.
When I was about 17 or 18, this man made a great impact on my life. He
may have been 25 or 28 but he always seemed young to me. He was kind
of like a vagabond even then. I'm 48 now. He told me that his father
called him "Spike". His last name is Kiethley. This may be the wrong
spelling but that's how I'll spell it for now. I don't remember if I
ever knew his real first name. He just went by Spike. He also hung
around with a guy named Daryl Gibson back then, who was also a musician.

His name is Spike Kiethley. When I knew him, we went to bars and
played guitar and sang for drinks and tips. Spike was the talent. I
was just some kid trying to keep up with his pickin' 'n grinnin'. Back
then we called it jammin'. I'd ask Spike, "Where you been?" He'd say,
"Been jammin'". His real name may be Benjamin but I don't think so.
This was in the Pasadena, TX area in the late 70's. I believe his
parent's or some relative of his lived in the LaPorte, TX area about
20 years ago because I searched the phone book hoping to find someone
who knew him. I got his number from this person and called him. He was
then living in Indianapolis, IN.

He was a very accomplished guitarist and decent song writer. One
song that he was locally famous for was called "Footprints on the
Dashboard Upsidedown". He told me he had been in the Army. He also
said he had been in college and majored in Music. This guy could pick
up a guitar, violin, banjo, trumpet, or harmonica and play a song. He
may play more instruments but these are all that I actually saw him
play. He also sings pretty well.

From the time regressed pictures, this guy is without a doubt, "The
Spike Kiethley".

This was the follow-up that was posted on the Dr. Phil Message Board to the tip:

http://www.drphil.com/messageboard/topic/3644/

I spoke with Spike's brother who says he died of smoke inhalation in '96 in Arizona. He said he went to the funeral. I had a friend who died of a drug overdose. He was bagged & tagged (his words). And he came back to life. I had another friend that says the same thing happened to him. Neither one of them got amnesia. But it seems to me, depending on the burial/cremation/organ donor or whatever the case, If this man "Spike" "came back to life" and just escaped, it would be something that the people responsible would not want to get out. Spike could have had amnesia since '96.
Spike had been known to drink or do drugs occasionally and considering his wandering lifestyle, he would run into many more diverse types of people in his journeys. I don't think it's out of the realm of possibility that this person could be the supposedly deceased Spike.

I did a search on Ancestry. Kiethley, put it on soundex, exact year of 1996, exact state Arizona. Nothing came up. I switched the dates from 1994-2002, nothing came up. Unless the state was wrong. But I think the brother is wrong, date I can see wrong, state of the death I can't. If you are not familiar with soundex, it will pull up anthing remotely close to Kiethley. Believe could you ask him to call the brother again, and ask how to spell Kiethley. I can run again with a exact spelling, and see what comes up.

I found KEATHLEY. His mother's obituary says that one son, Albert died before her. He is Albert 'Spike' Keathley.
I did not find an obituary in Arizona, 1996, for him.

I realize the height is off 2 inches, but is there any chance?
http://www.nampn.org/cases/russell_charles_martin.html

I never believe the height stuff unless it is really different-I like him so far. Can someone draw a mustache on him, so he looks more like BK from one of the photos with facial hair with his head tilted back??

(Mr. Russell is actually linked at the beginning on this thread, post number 2. He was listed as being too short, but I guess he might be worth looking at further if that is the only downside...)
