The Audubon Nature Institute, based in New Orleans, tweeted that White was 'a conservationist, animal advocate, and friend' in remembering the late Golden Girls star.

The organization, which runs the zoo and aquarium in the city, said that 'when the penguins & sea otters were evacuated to' the Monterey Bay Aquarium in Monterey, California 'for Hurricane Katrina' in 2005 in Louisiana, Betty White 'paid for the plane to relocate them.'

Lovely stories are still coming out about what a wonderful person Ms. White was. She was a one off and a special Lady who made the world a better and happier place. It is incredibly sad that Betty is no longer with us, I wish she could have lived forever. But I am grateful for the long and full life she lived. I really hope she has been reunited with her late beloved husband Allen Ludden in heaven.

It is very sad Betty suffered a stroke six days before she passed away. I am glad she was still alert and coherent and hope she didn’t suffer. I love this photo of Betty with President Obama’s dog Bo at the White House from the article at the link above.
