Oh no! We won't let that happen. DD has a good sense of direction, but hasn't ventured out to many outlying areas of Texas. (As in, didn't even know where Kosse was!)
Lordy! No one knows where Kosse is. The only reason I know where it is located is due to the family farm. Before I married my husband..I had never heard of the place! :D

I have absolutely NO sense of direction either...turn me around and I don't know which way is what. Chances of meeting are looking slim...LOL...I can however make it to the Whataburger in Wacko!!!!! :D
LOL...that is what we call it too!

I was just at Wendy's, right next to the Whataburger, LOL! Where were you?!

Chances of meeting are slim? Nooooo, we HAVE to do this!

I just know of Whataburger because that is our trade off spot when our kids go visit friends in Dallas, or visa versa....that's a good 1/2 way spot and it's right off the highway!

Yep, see...proves my point...Waco's the great pit stop area of Central Texas :D

(Well, that's not as bad as the OTHER things Waco is known for, hehe  )

Kind of funny we all live so close together.

I used to drive to Waco quite often to do consulting work for an advertising agency there, Innovations. His wife is Baylor women's basketball coach, Kim Robertson.

I've actually been to the most devastated of the Texas towns, Cross Plains. It only has a population 0f 1100, I think, and at last report 160+ homes & buildings were destroyed by the fire. That means at least half the town has been destroyed, possibly more.

Luckily, one of the few buildings untouched by the blaze was the birthplace of the town's one famous name, adventure writer Robert E. Howard, who created such characters as Conan The Barbarian, King Kull, and Red Sonja back during the 1930s. The modest wooden home had recently been converted into a museum and houses litterally hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of rare books, manuscripts & artwork as well as even rarer letters from Howard's former penpals, H.P. Lovecraft, Hugh Cave and Manly Wade Wellman. I hope they relocate the museum's library & archives elsewhere until the wildfires are finally under control.

P.S. If you don't know about Howard's legacy, check out the movie THE WHOLE WIDE WORLD, starring Vincent D'Onofrio.

I am absolutely rolling on the floor on this one - yep, that about sums it up, LOL. It's a great pit stop for going someplace more impressive :woohoo:
It's a good place because it's central, but other than that....

I'm game wherever y'all wanna go!

Well, actually I have some friends in Waco, but I haven't seen them in a while.

Uh, OK, I Guess I'll go to Waco; Sassygerl if I look at the map first I can find it. Also I believe in stopping and asking if I get lost. So you could ride with me, or I could ride with you and navigate.

This is getting complicated already. Olive Garden is fine with me. I'd rather go during the week when the traffic is less, but I guess I could do a weekend if others work. It depends on what weekend.

Also, my father is very ill so I have to make sure he's OK for the next few weeks. Can't do anything Jan. 7th. Otherwise, I might be game after that.

So we need a TIME, and a DATE. Maybe a SUNDAY would be easier than a Sat. Like Sun. afternoon. Whatever.

Third or fourth weekend in January, depending on the weather? Howsabout that? Or would you rather wait till Feb. or March? I honestly think this could be really fun, the more I think about it.

(my husband is going to flip his wig if I tell him I'm going to meet people on the internet) Hmm, I 'm going to have to tell him - what? OH, I've got it. If he meets Sassygerl first, then I'll tell him she's a friend from church and we're going to go shopping in Salado. Or something like that.

Tell him you are going to meet some old farts and go to eat and look at the mall. I promise...it is not a lie as far as describing me.

About 7 years ago I flew to San Francisco to meet some friends from an IRC chatroom I was a member of for 2 years. We had members from Chicago, Florida, Ohio, and 4 other states meet up there. Most of the members of the group lived in Cali. It was hysterical finding each other as our flights landed, some we had photos of, others we didn't. As we met up, we were going to other gates to meet flights. After a few days in SF area a group of 14 took a flight to LA to meet up with 8 more members. We bunked out at members homes throught the trip. My host in SF was a social worker w/7 kids & she visited me in Texas. From LA, 9 of us went to San Jose to stay with a member who was a sculptor & art professor. He lived up in the mountains, awsome place in the middle of the redwoods out in nowhereland. By the time I got home 10 days later my whole face hurt from laughing so much. I've never had so much fun!!!

Either weekend in January would work for me.

Weekends work best for me, and I really have had a boring life lately, so anytime after mid-January works for me. :)

Yeah, I guess we haven't mentioned the fires lately. I know it's been better here in the last few days, not as many fires as last weekend. I did see on the TV that Milam County is now banning all combustibles, including all fireworks. Here in McLennan County, I know earlier they were only banning the airborne fireworks; I don't know if that will be changing before New Year's Eve. It IS getting scary....

And compare this to California, wow. My parents did their drive from Eureka, CA to Sacramento yesterday, and they said yesterday was THE day to drive, as today CA's getting pounded with rain again. However, they had to go a different route than normal, because Hwy 101 was closed due to landslides. (I grew up there, they've had several bad landslides on 101 through the years. It really impacts that area of the state, as 101 is one of the few main roadways for trucks, etc. to bring supplies, gas, etc.)

Ok, how about Jan. 21 or 28 (Sat.), or 22 or 29 (Sun).

Everyone decide whether you prefer a Saturday or Sunday.

Then decide which one. We'll try to choose the most popular date; and then see if everyone can go along.

If the weather's bad, I'd like to push it back, because I don't like to drive I-35 if the weather's bad.

So yall just decide; I'm pretty flexible since I don't have children at home or a job.

Sadie Mae, since you're a pro at this, I hope you can make it.
