Good grief. What a circus.
Where's Hailey?
Here's some of the background about Young's previous troubles with alcohol and the law. He needs to get help, imo. He also needs to be held fully accountable for his latest incident; if he's drinking again,it's another accident waiting to happen, imo..
From 2004 article
It didn't take long for Young to become one of Lubbock's top prosecutors. With a zest for the law, Young quickly moved up the ladder.
That all changed, though, when Young was involved in a car accident that claimed the life of Darlene Hall, a mother of two.
The news made headlines throughout Lubbock, and while a grand jury did not indict him on a charge of anything other than DWI, Young was forced to resign in 1990.
''It was a very unpleasant time in my life, but clearly not as unpleasant as those two young children,'' Young said. ''I did act in an irresponsible manner. There's nothing I can do in this life to make up for taking the life of Mrs. Hall. What I can do ... is do better.''
Following the backlash of the accident and the resignation, Young moved to Sweetwater and joined a local law firm. His plan was to learn to practice civil law and move to a bigger city.
''I was still looking over my shoulder for the fallout of a horrible mistake,'' Young said. ''I expected the people of Sweetwater to judge me.''
Instead, Young said, the community embraced him, which is why he and his wife, Tracy, and their two children, Spencer and Lauren, have no plans to leave.
''I think I have a personal responsibility to give back to the community,'' he said. ''It's about investing in the way of life that has been so good for me here in West Texas.''
Since then, he has built quite a reputation for snagging cases thrust into the media spotlight.
He represents Gladys Gerst, the former director for the Sweetwater's People For Progress, Inc., who is accused of stealing hundreds of thousands of dollars from the now-defunct nonprofit corporation.
Justin Hill, a former Hardin-Simmons University and McMurry University football player accused of killing an 11-month-old baby in August, and Ernesto Valadez, accused of killing his wife and then burying her body near their home in Hawley in September, also are represented by Young.
Young said there are multiple reasons for his ability to notch the big-time client in big-time situations.
''Some of the passion that I have is born out of once being a criminal defendant,'' Young said. ''I know what it's like to have made an enormous error. I have a great passion for standing up for those who can't stand up for themselves.''
Young also admitted he's got a bit of shameless promotion coursing through his veins. He often goes out of his way to be accommodating to the media and admits he likes to see his face on television or his name in print.
However, he said, having a working relationship with the media is important not only to his law practice, but to the criminal-justice system as well.
''I think the focus of the media keeps us (lawyers) honest,'' he said. ''It's a good check and balance. If that makes me a media hound, then so be it.''

What would be the point of filing a complaint against her lawyer? This incident is more serious than substance abuse.
Won't Young's license to practice law be suspected immediately after his arrest?
Won't the Court appoint a lawyer for BD now?
Thank you for posting this article yllek. It changed my opinion of Mr.Young and Billie Dunn in a heartbeat. Why did the grand jury turn a blind eye to the severity of his crime and not indict him on a charge of murder rather than a DWI? Because he is a lawyer and they protect their own? It is certainly no surprise that he is again in trouble and his career is in jeopardy. All he got for murdering a mother of 2 was a slap on the hand, a warning, and the fact he was only charged with DUI is a gross miscarriage of justice imo. This case is much more than a DWI. I am angry with the grand jury’s decision because a DWI charge doesn’t acknowledge that a person even existed and they lost their life due to his negligence so their rights were ignored and the justice they deserve was denied them.
Hopefully this time he won’t be so lucky and he will get more than a slap on the hand. Leaving town allowed him to avoid living with the consequences of his actions and did not achieve any positive results. His methods are deceitful and the clients he proudly represents deserve to be penalized to the full extent of the law if they are guilty. Yet he shrewdly thwarts and abuses his power of attorney to get them off the hook and escape facing and living with the consequences of their actions. Thank God what goes around comes around.
The clients he represents does not paint a pretty picture of Bille Dunn now does it? Bille Dunn, where is Hailey?
Interesting yllek, thanks for researching all that. Knowing what I now know about Young, I'm relieved that Billie most likely will have to retain another lawyer.
What I still find ironic in all this mess; is that the only named POI hasn't been heard from or mentioned in MONTHS!!!
BBM- You gotta be kidding me?According to Sweetwater police chief Jim Kelley, around 12:15 a.m. Monday, an on-duty officer was "staying at a house in the 2100 block of Robert Lee with his ex-wife."
"He stopped by there to get a glass of tea," Kelley said, when the policeman noticed a car behind the house that he "assumed was Mr. Young's." The officer approached the front of the vehicle, at which point Young exited his vehicle "yelling" at the policeman, calling him a "threat," the police chief said.
Though he said that "Mr. Young was intoxicated on something" at the time of his arrest, Sweetwater police "didn't pursue any alcohol-related charges," Kelley said. "(We) didn't see the need to offer any type of blood or breath analysis

Stalking maybe? I agree, what tipped LE off to him sitting in his car behind a house?
Is there any way to find out who lives on this street and then see if maybe an employee or "friend" lives here somehow. Maybe he was spying on a "friend" to see what she was doing?
Also, I don't think he is considered "prominent" at all. He is taking cases that no other attorney with any sense at all would take. IMO
He only wants the notoriety....just like another attorney we all know here on WS.
My opinions only.
