BLUE VAN:Investigation**REVISITED**

Ok, from what I can tell some of the confusion springs from that he refers to the interviewee vaguely as "Croslin" and various later versions have interpreted it to mean either Chelsea Croslin or Misty Croslin.

His reply to you:

Croslin says the night Haleigh disappeared, a family member was staying with them. She says around 4am when Misty called them to tell them Haleigh was missing, they went outside to the van to drive to Haleigh’s home. Croslin says she immediately noticed the van was not in the same spot she left it.
“I know I don’t park like that, and I was the last to drive the van.”

Then on myfoxorlando somebody apparently wanted to clarify and automatically assumed that Croslin refers to Misty Croslin:

Misty said the night Haleigh disappeared, a family member was staying with them. Around 4 a.m., Misty called the family member to tell them Haleigh was missing. They went outside to the van to drive to Haleigh’s home and Misty said she immediately noticed the van was not in the same spot she left it.
“I know I don’t park like that, and I was the last to drive the van," Misty said.

And here's another edit from Cbs47:

Chelsea Croslin said the night Haleigh disappeared, a family member was staying with them. She says around 4 a.m., when Misty called them to tell them Haleigh was missing, they went outside to the van to drive to Haleigh’s home. Chelsea said she immediately noticed the van was not in the same spot she left it.

The lesson for the reporter: Use whole names instead of surnames when there are several people with the same surname in your article. Especially if the one you're talking about is not the one people would think about first. The lesson for the editor: Read and understand the article you're editing and check the facts if you're unsure.
This is why I will have continue to go by what I hear in the video of Chelsea actually speaking, which says Misty had the van, Misty found the scratch, and Misty parked it and noticed it moved.....Straight out of Chelseas mouth not edited by a reporter....just sayin

In the video Chelsea says: The day that Haleigh was missing, everybody was looking for her, later that night she called me crying she said Chelsea please tell me that you're the one who put the scratch in my van and I said her crying that there's no way I put a scratch in her van.

So, it's definitely somebody calling Chelsea and asking her if Chelsea scratched the van. The reporter talks about a phonecall from Misty before that clip but Chelsea talks only of "her" so we have no way to tell, on the basis of this video, if the reporter attributes the call to the correct "she". I suppose it could be another SIL calling her about her van.

But I suppose that it's also possible that Misty and family called it her van if she was the one who was most often driving it. My car is actually owned by my husband but it's still called mine because I drive it, and I'm the owner of the car everybody thinks of as my husband's car so I can see how it could happen.

Which video you're watching? The one I have is this

http://www.cbs47.com/content/topsto...ce-In-The-Haleigh/1k5Lp9GD2E2M74ZPyUJb7g.cspx

and here it's the reporter paraphrasing the parking and moving the van. Is there an unedited one? Sorry, it's probably linked right here and I just can't find it.

Confusion drives me nuts! LOL Had no choice.

Good job and thank you for doing this. I think the reporter also needs to clarify WHO called Chelsea and asked her about the scratches. The reporter said it was Misty that called her but I would bet my bottom dollar it was Lindsey that called Chelsea, since it was the owner of the vehicle asking about the scratches in "my" van, and Lindsey owns the van not Misty.

Thanks again.

I stand corrected, I just listened again. She refers to it being Misty, according to the reporters premise to the story....I have to go listen again....

It doesn't make sense that it was Misty that parked the van and then noticed it moved. The person was going to Misty's when they found out Haleigh was missing.

Actually, while I understand what you said and figured that out, as well...but when the article was written....she was no longer Croslin...but Cummings. Therefore, that is further confusion. <sigh>

Ok the video the reporter leads you to believe that Chelsea is speaking of Misty. Who else would she be speaking about, she isnt talking about herself calling herself....

My apologies in advance, but, I'm just popping in and won't be able to read through the entire thread....

I'm assuming this report suggests that Misty's cousin from TN that was visiting was stayin w/ Chelsea...that Chelsea's van was apparently taken during the night that Haleigh went missing...and that when returned, not only was the van parked in a different spot, but, it had a new scratch running down the side of it.

This is the same cousin that immediately went back to TN after the night Haleigh went missing? Same cousin that was allegedly spotted w/ a girl matching Haleigh's description outside a restaurant in TN?

My apologies if any of the above introduces confusion, or re-injects errors that have since been debunked. I haven't followed the case all that closely, but, am still interested in new info.

So....no info on whether the van was left unlocked? signs of forced entry? keys left in it? gas gauge or mileage difference noted? seat position noted? mirrors adjusted? Times the cousin was last seen before & after the van went missing?

Also assuming this is the van that had Misty's blanket in it.

Also assuming this is the light blue minivan we have a pic of sitting in Chelsea's driveway.

TIA!

Yes...according to all that we have put together with the confirmation from the reporter...all you stated is correct. I'm not sure about the blanket, however...I can't confirm that.

Ok the video the repoter leads you to believe that Chelsea is speaking of Misty. Who else would she be speaking about, she isnt talking about herself calling her....

Yes in the video the reporter says that it was Misty that called Chelsea, but since Misty would have been very busy with LE that night and since she does not own the van, it is more likely, imo, that it was Lindsey that called Chelsea, was discussing what could have happened to Haleigh, and the scratch in "her" (Lindsey's) van.

I think it definitely was another case of shabby reporting that has gone on with this case.

Ok the video the reporter leads you to believe that Chelsea is speaking of Misty. Who else would she be speaking about, she isnt talking about herself calling herself....

The only other person I can think of is Lindsy Croslin. If she owns the van, it would make sense that Lindsy called it her van. But it wouldn't explain why the reporter thought Chelsea was talking of Misty. IDK. I suppose that since the reporter was there and I wasn't, I'll have to take his word that Chelsea said Misty called her.

I'm willing to bet you're 100% correct. I believe the comments from Chelsea was edited and its possible she even stated my sister in law Lindsey, she called me and said "Please tell me that you're the one who xxxx"......the report was most probably written AFTER the video editing was done and that is why the confusion.

Reporters TAPE on scene live...and then the tape goes back to the editing studio. In the meantime, the reporter writes the column. It's my best guess they edited OUT the part of "Lindsey called me and asked...." and it read as if it were Misty as no clarification was entered as that portion was edited out. Does this make sense? I emailed for confirmation.

OK. So what we know is:

A. The van is owned by Misty's brother and wife Lindsey

B. The van was loaned to Misty's other brother and wife Chelsea

C. They consider it a "family van" as they switch it around to whomever needs it at the time.

D. On the night Haleigh disappeared...an "unnamed" family member (we believe is the cousin) was staying at Chelsea and Misty's brothers place.

E. Haleigh goes missing in the middle of the night and Misty phones her sis in law, Chelsea, at 4 am.

F. Chelsea gets up and it dawns on her that the van is parked differently. However, she probably didn't inspect it...but it just crossed her mind that she didn't park like that. Thinks nothing of it at the time.

G. Later that day, the van goes back to Lindsey's house or somewhere in which Lindsey or her husband noticed the scratch and broken light....calls Chelsea and says "Please tell me your the one that put the scratch on my van?"

F. One or the other, or both reported this to the police and they confiscated the van. After they kept it for evidential purposes it was returned to Chelsea's place and she is talking to the reporter.

(tell me if any possible errors)

WTH!?!?!? :furious:

...and they "questioned"...not arrested the cousin? :furious::furious:

I'm mean geez-o-Pete! His flight from the area alone was enough to generate reasonable suspicion.

Alright already...charge his a$$ and lets get me some Sunshine-action goin'! Not to mention some honest-pressure on some peeps to start talkin'

....I'm just beside myself... :slap:

it makes so much more sense now why Misty and her family believed that JO was involved. It wasn't just them throwing JO under the bus to save Misty...the circumstances really do point to JO when you think about it....I would have thought the same exact thing, I think.

Ya know...much as I hate to say it....but I think the cousin is totally unrelated to all of it. I could be wrong. It's possible...and we do not know...that when the police questioned the cousin and he admitted that "yeah I took the van" and he gave an accounting as to where he was at with the van and the investigators went and verified where he was. So he may not have ANYTHING to do with the missing status of Haleigh.

I think now I am more convinced than ever that the "black man" that JR said he saw (of which I believe he stated that)...is the man that Misty had over the house that evening. Haleigh would not have gone off with strangers or let anyone strange pick her up from a middle of sleep without fighting and screaming. Did you see the pics of her on first day of school? She was dragged kicking and screaming. That child was afraid of new people, new places and the dark. And a child that intimidated would not sleep through being picked up and relocated. No, I believe she knew who she was going off with and who is to say she was even put to bed at 8pm anyhow? Whoever took her could have taken her right out the door at 8:15 pm and she wasn't even asleep at all.

By the way, the statement by Crystal that JR stated "a black man" was THE ONLY STATEMENT she emphasized "I swear to God, that is what he said" That says to me that Crystal herself says some things truthful, some things not. The emphasis on this statement by JR is why I believe is truthful. The statement of Ronald beating the children...I believe is a lie. There is no emphasis on those statements. Ever. Fact is, there are inconsistencies with statements in which she has stated he hit the children...he never hit the children. This is why I am in full belief there was a black man...and now it all falls in place, in my opinion...since Cobra brought out about Misty having a black boyfriend.

I think F. I thought she refers to whoever noticed the different parking situation was the same person who said they noticed the scratch...JMO
