NJ Body found in refrigerator, Belleplain State Forest, 22 Dec 2024 (Laura Leigh Hughes) *Arrest*

It's just the style of metalworking. The underside may be smooth, but if it's very thin and malleable, it could have corresponding raised bumps like Braille.

The pendant is relatively soft. A harder metal die punch with a point or design (like the star) is placed on the metal and the flat end is struck with a hammer to impress the mark.

If a complex design is being done, like a star map, a tissue paper map of the design is laid over or fixed to the pendant before beginning to guide the placement of the marks.

It's a form of metalworking and design anyone can do, because it doesn't require the metal to be heated.

MOO
Is the metal pewter? I saw some images in my search that stated the image was a “vintage” pewter “constellation” or “star” pendant.

WOW! So incredibly sad if he had nothing to do with this.
People generally don't wander dump sites for fun due to the risk of injury. They're there dumping something of their own, looking to strip components of dumped items, or even using it as a dropoff/pickup point for illicit items. He may very well have nothing to do with this body but he probably said too much about why he was there to begin with.

Pewter has a more duller, darker more grey appearance than silver.

this site features (among other personalized jewelry offered) personalized sterling silver zodiac sign constellation necklaces that to me resemble the one found on the body. The search feature on the site is not working for me so I cannot search up specific signs to see if they have one that is an exact match for the one in this case. Can someone else try? TIA

ETA is it possible this necklace doesn't depict a zodiac sign but rather an important date/event/star alignment to the victim?
Not replying to you specifically but want to weigh in on the pendant. My daughters all took jewelry making classes in a pre-college program and it looks so much like what they made. Simple, somewhat amateur-ish but by someone who had access to professional jewelry making equipment. All of which is to say that the symbol may be “I’m trying out these cool hammer strikes.” Look at the quality on Etsy - it looks much more “polished”. IMO. At the same time, it would be very identifiable to the artist so it might be a good idea for LE to try and deseminate it widely. Just thought. Also, I’m so impressed by the sleuthing on this thread! So many good searches and ideas!

ETA - also if LE are really interested in the “finder’s” role, I would get the DA together with finder’s attorney and give him immunity for any non-murder/sexual assault crimes unrelated to the body. Then it would be apparent if he was copper-stealing, drug using, etc. it would also incentivize him to explain why the repeated trips. Or not. Which would say something.

As a libran, nope, no way.

I available that it looks homemade. Something like you would make in tech class or dad's shed.

I'm just glad it was an adult who found this body.

It's exactly the kind of place I would have been into and all over in my late childhood and early teens. Poking through the woods and other people's junk, climbing all over semi dangerous stuff.

Off-topic, but I've seen a lot of posts that end with "moo". What's that an acronym for?

I still suspect the pendant signifies an important date to the victim. I don't think it was random hammer stikes just fooling around. I suspect it commemorates a wedding date, a child's birthdate, the date of a parent's death. Something along those lines.

Have we heard anymore about if Tryell is cooperating or if LE have gleaned any info from his phone relevant to the body or the refrigerator?

Still no updates on possible age, approximate time period of death (i.e. new, weeks, months, etc), hair/eye color, etc? I also haven’t seen any mention of clothing, so was she naked? If so, I wonder if she may have been sexually assaulted so possibly there could be DNA?

What was not mentioned during the detention hearing was that Tyrrell called police the day after he first discovered the refrigerator.

Tyrrell told police that he first opened the refrigerator Dec. 21, and took possession of some things inside, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC.

I didn't think the man was involved in this, but the news that he was at the refrigerator and taking items before finally calling it in gives me some doubt.

I was thinking he was actually getting harrassed a bit.... but the reporting is what is making it all the more confusing. I get the sense that LE feels no need to keep the public informed, and informed accurately at this time. ????

Tyrrell told police that he first opened the refrigerator Dec. 21, and took possession of some things inside, according to the affidavit of probable cause obtained by BreakingAC. (Was this what we already know about or not??

He then returned to the area the next day, when he said he saw what appeared to be a human body inside. It was not clear why he would not have seen the body the first time. (what the h??)

More confusing than ever....

the way the facts were initially reported it read like he went to the fridge and took something out of it and then returned the next day to discover the body. Suggesting the body was placed in the fridge after his first visit and prior to the second. How on earth could he have missed a human body during his removing something visit??? Was she dismembered and concealed in bags or something?

Could be a fridge utilized as a pickup/dropoff site for something else.

I have wondered about the same thing. Could that be why there is no description of hair/eye color or any facial sketch? I thought this could be due to decomposition, but the description of the tattoos made me think decomposition was not likely too severe. But could it be because there was no head? If that is the case though, I would think the description of the victim being 5’1” would more likely have been a range - such as 5’0” - 5’2” - because they would have to consider the person may have a rounder vs a more elongated shaped face/head.

You'd think they'd pick a place a little less suspicious than a refrigerator in the middle of the woods.
