NJ Body found in refrigerator, Belleplain State Forest, 22 Dec 2024 (Laura Leigh Hughes) *Arrest*

  • #41
I did a quick Google Lens search but didn’t come up with any exact matches (except the post from the NJ State Police looking to identify this victim).

My thoughts -
* Constellation pendant necklace - none of the general Zodiac signs seem to match exactly, but it looks like a pendant can be designed based on your exact birthday. I’d love to hear from someone into this. Are birth date constellation patterns specific to a month/day or do they get even more specific with year and possibly even with approximate time of birth?

* If it is based on a Zodiac sign, could it be Pisces? Just thinking this because of the Koi fish tattoo.

* The koi fish may not necessarily represent Pisces for this victim as I also found this -

Unfortunately, no. Pisces looks like a big capital L with a ball attached to the end of the lower branch. Nothing at all like the pendant.

The yoga mat looks very similar if not the same to the mats sold by Natural Physical Therapy in East Amherst.

Others may say "WTH...?" when they run across a fridge in the middle of the woods... I'd say "I ain't lookin' inside that".
That's exactly how I would react. Even the best case scenario can't be pleasant.

I counted the big star as the sun

If you look up constellation necklaces on google, it's common among this style of punched pendant for the big star to represent the brightest stars in the constellation, for example, Antares and Shaula in Scorpius.

Good thoughts. I’ve no idea about constellations.

Maybe the North Star?

Polaris is part of Ursa Minor, which also does not resemble the pendant.

I'm looking at all kinds of constellation maps, including Southern hemisphere.

The problem is, we have no idea how accurate the placement of the stars is, or how stylised it was. Constellation maps in some of these depictions sometimes only show the brightest. I've seen Orion stylised down to half a dozen, when in reality, he has three stars clear to the naked eye even with urban light pollution in his belt alone.

MOO

If you haven’t already done so, you should pass this info on to the NJ State Police.

I was thinking more of a birth date constellation than a Zodiac symbol.

Additional research is proving the same mat is available at WalMart so it does not appear to be exclusive to the Physical Therapy business. It was the first that appeared on reverse image.

Something interesting that popped up in my research on both the tattoo and the symbols on the mat referenced Latvian culture. I just don’t think the mat is a specialty and most likely mass produced.

Not sure why the link says robot or human but it’s the link to the mat for sale at WalMart.

Also, according to ChatGPT, see the following analysis on the necklace. It most resembles the constellation Crux, aka the Southern Cross as described below.

Nice find! I also did a quick look at searching the pendant and it seems to resemble Zodiac constellation pendants but didn’t match any exactly. It looks like there may be constellations specific to an actual birth date so I messaged an artist that makes these types of necklaces to ask for their thoughts on this particular design. I’ll share if I hear back from them.

I was thinking more generically, not as part of a constellation, necessarily.

Though the design being part of something makes more sense than not.

IMO

What if the pendant is one of those "BFF pendants" you get where your friend (or S.O.) gets the other half and together they either make a shape (usually a heart), complete a phrase, or complete a symbol?

I may have missed it, but I'm trying to find a more detailed description of this victim. So far all that I have seen is that this is a female, white or Hispanic, approximately 5'1" and descriptions of the two tattoos and the necklace. Does anyone have any additional information, such as:
Approximate age?
Approximate length of time the person has been deceased?
Hair and/or eye color?
Was any clothing or other belongings found on or with the body?
If so, what were the items? Size of clothing?
Any scars, healed/healing injuries/fractures, evidence of surgery, childbirth, etc?
Possible cause of death?

I came across a 17 y/o female, possibly Hispanic, missing from Somerset, NJ since 9/13/24. Description says she is 5'0" tall but doesn't give any other information as far as tattoos, etc.

There's also a woman missing from Red Bank, Monmouth County, NJ since 6/21/22. Description says Hispanic/Latino, 5'0" tall, 33 y/o at the time of her disappearance. There is no information noted about tattoos, etc.

Also, I am finding that there seems to be a lack of consistency in the posting of Missing Persons between some of the more common "accepted" websites - NAMUS, NCMEC and the NJ State Police website. NAMUS seems to have the most information, NCMEC looks like they only post basic "fliers" which have very little information and the NJ State Police website doesn't list some cases that I KNOW are still active missing persons cases. I thought there was supposed to be better coordination between these "main" missing persons sites, so why does it seem like there is little continuity/consistency with WHO is listed as missing on each site as well as the information provided about each person? Is there another good resource for finding CURRENT and more DETAILED information on Missing Persons?

I've also used The Doe Network and will take a look at that site now to see how there information compares with the other websites.

Me too, but I'd be more concerned about the living that might be inside.

That's a good point. In that case I'd knock and see if there was any noise from within. :)
I'd probably throw a rock at it from about 30 yards away.

maybe the location in the forest is strange...
but we have seen so many bodies in refrigerators this year!! That IS strange.
Am I the only one who hears the second half of "Layla" when visualizing that?

I think it would be highly unlikely that someone looking to dump a body just happened to come across a conveniently abandoned refrigerator in the woods.
Maybe the fridge was located in a known dumping sight. If someone dumped in that location they could've known that it was there.

Dumping cases
I hope police investigate people who are known/caught illegally dumping in that area.
