NJ Body found in refrigerator, Belleplain State Forest, 22 Dec 2024 (Laura Leigh Hughes) *Arrest*

And here's why:

Man sentenced in corruption-of-minors case - The Reporter (Lansdale, PA)

Odd, the article refers to the sex (between a 24- and a 15-year-old) as "consensual", even though the guilty plea was for "involuntary" deviate sexual intercourse. I get that it was written in 2003, but "children can't consent" was well understood long before that.

He isn't in the NJ or PA registries.

Aegon.... I cannot get in. At first, I thought it was because i was in an incognito window... but I just keep getting a subscription required.... So still hoping you will add some detail....
thanks.

I can see where they would want to eliminate him, since he was the finder, and surely fingerprints and cell data would be part of that process. When they looked him up, they would have found the old charges, plus some more recent ones, as well, of a different nature. But it would be voluntary on his part, and it sure doesn’t feel like obstruction, imo.

I wish we could get a photo of the fridge…old or new? In working order? Clean or rusty? At any rate, the tattoos are apparently quite clear, and the mat and pendant don’t look especially worn/old. This looks like a recent missing woman or girl. Someone is missing her.

My obvious questions as well. And I think they could report some of it without muddying their case.
IF the refrig has been in place for a longer time, and the body appears to be more recently put there...
Well, that is one story.

These days, I am sure LE have specific processes to get to Tattoo artists. Guess I wonder, how forthcoming artists are to provide information to LE? hmmm... something new to have to think about now...

I can't view the article either but from what I can gather, Tyrell was charged in 2005 in Pennsylvania for chatting online with a 15 year old girl and then having sexual contact with her. But all articles about those charges are behind paywalls so I cannot link any other info about that charge.

I'm not sure why they would bring the mat out there when disposing the body. The tattoos wouldn't necessarily be that clear on the actual body. I don't know if this guy was involved or not, but you would think that calling the cops would defeat the purpose of bringing the body (in a fridge, no less) all the way out to the woods. That's where you bring a body you DON'T want found. He might as well have left it at the end of his block. When Silvio Dante brought Adriana to the woods, he didn't call the police afterwards.

Lame. Here's the text:

John Patrick Tyrrell, of the 1300 block of Jasper Drive, pleaded guilty June 6 to a first-degree misdemeanor crime of corruption of minors.

Tyrrell met the teenager in an Internet chatroom in mid-August 2000 and they had consensual sex on three occasions, two of which were in his home.

In court on Monday afternoon, Montgomery County Judge Maurino J. Rossanese Jr. also ordered that Tyrrell be on probation for three years consecutive to when he is paroled, and directed him to pay a $500 fine plus court costs. Rossanese ordered that Tyrrell‘s sentence retroactively begin October 2002.

Montgomery County Assistant District Attorney Todd Stephens said that the judge also ordered Tyrrell to comply with any sex offender treatment ordered by the Pennsylvania State Board of Probation and Parole.

Despite a request by Stephens that the sentence run consecutively, Rossanese ordered that Tyrrell‘s Montgomery County sentence run at the same time as a state sentence imposed earlier this month in Bucks County.

“The impact the crime had on the family warranted consecutive sentences, but the judge disagreed,“ Stephens said after the court proceeding. “The bottom line is he will have to answer to the parole board to two crimes before a decision is made on whether to release him.“

Tyrrell was sentenced in Bucks County July 17 to five to 10 years in state prison after being convicted of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, Tyrrell‘s attorney Richard Winters said.

The Bucks County charge stems from Tyrrell sexually assaulting a 15-year-old Telford female on Sept. 30, 2002, after meeting her online.

“Obviously we‘re happy with the sentence, that it was concurrent, because he already will be serving at least five years in the state prison,“ he said.

Stephens pointed out Tyrrell‘s Bucks County conviction requires him to register as a sex offender wherever he lives for the rest of his life, which is a requirement under Megan‘s Law, Stephens said.

That's so strange, isn't it?
I am wondering if I have already used up my freebies from that news source for another case maybe, hence the difference. Oh well, soon enough we will know if LE finds evidence tying him to the body, now that they have the warrant for his phone.

The deceased individual had two tattoos: a koi fish tattoo on the upper right portion of her back (shoulder blade area) and a rose tattoo on her left ribs, extending from her chest to her hip.

necklace recovered at the scene after unidentified human remains were discovered in Belleplain State Forest

Police released photos of what the victim presumably looked like before her death, as well as images of “a distinctive yoga mat and necklace” that were both recovered at the scene.

The necklace appears to have a small star and other tiny holes punched into it, and the black-and-green yoga mat includes various intricate designs.

Drawings of tattoos found on the woman.
Shim argued for Tyrrell to be held in jail during a detention hearing Monday, noting he is a registered Megan’s Law offender.

That charge is 22 years old, with no violations since, Tumelty argued. He also noted that his client is properly registered.

I wonder if she might be a runaway, or someone originally from out of state. Maybe got the tattoos in that time, maybe no one who might be looking for her, if they even know she's missing (or has been found) would recognize her by tattoo.

I'm kinda bothered by the lack of mention of her hair, the color or length. If she had skin left with full large intact tattoos, wouldn't she be likely to have hair intact as well?

To be blunt, if she was in a fridge, she may have been dismembered to make her fit. She also may have had things like her hair and fingertips removed to hinder identification.

They haven't released a facial recon yet. If they don't in the next while, I'll start suspecting decapitation and that they've guessed racial heritage based on skin tone. The argument against this is that they've been pretty definitive about her height being 5'1", rather than giving a possible range.

MOO

My first thought about the cops demanding his phone may have been with a regard to suspected pictures he had taken of the body before they arrived. Do we know if the victim was dressed? Their could have been evidence that he was taking pictures that he shouldn't have been? I do agree that arresting him for nor surrendering his camera was a bit odd in the basic sense.

Do we know exactly where in the forest this fridge was located? Maybe the location of the fridge and then this guys behavior when making contact with LE was odd. I think many people who find something or who witness a crime/discover a crime are asked to give prints to rule out their prints from the area (if they touched anything) and looking at his phone would be an easy way to eliminate him from being a suspect. Was he running a hiking app that showed his movements? I think him showing resistance to provide something basic like fingerprints would be reason enough to look further into him. I mean I'm assuming he opened the fridge or else how did he know a body was in it.. if he opened it, then he touched it and his fingerprints need to be eliminated. It likely didn't start out as LE suspecting him, but with that behavior I can see why they might move to that direction.

Another article by Press of Atlantic City titled “Lower Township man took property out of fridge in Belleplain State Forest according to court documents”. However, again behind a paywall. Anyone have access? Curious as to what he took. Hope he didn’t destroy any evidence.

There was another case a couple (few?) years ago in the east (I think) with a man with tattoos found in a freezer. One of the posters on that case was checking into tattoo artists and, iirc, building or using spreadsheets or databases to search tattoos.

I’ll try to track down the poster.

Sometimes it helps to clear your browser cache, etc., to reset the browser for freebies.

I couldn’t get past the paywall on that one, but I did find this:

A pre-indictment hearing is scheduled for February, according to judicial records.

The man told police he was ventured into the woods Dec. 21, hiking to the fridge and taking property from inside, State Police wrote in a probable cause statement. The following day, he returned, finding the woman’s body inside.

State Police troopers were called to the forest around 3 p.m. after the discovery. Police have not said how the woman may have died.

My apologies, I don’t know how to link the SC thread properly, so I just typed the thread title below.

Poster @data_nerd_2005

In “SC - Norway, Body found in freezer at abandoned “haunted” house. Jan’21 - Robert Fuller”

Body was identified.

Copy of a @data_nerd_2005 post:
I was easily able to get all tattoo shops in SC and a few right outside of it. I am now working on collecting emails/ phone numbers / instagram usernames. I can automate contact through email and possibly instagram, but it will be difficult for me to contact places with only a phone number listed. Am I allowed to post a google sheet of all the tattoo shops and their contact info? If so, if anybody is willing to contact the tattoo shops I can't automate contact with, that would be of great help!

Well that is bizarre! He hiked to the fridge and took stuff out of it and then he returns the next day and finds a body in it?

WTH could be in a fridge in the middle of the forest that someone would want to take? If he was hiking to it, then it seems he knew it was there and knew something was in it? Was this something drug related? Seems odd, but maybe?

So if he claims that day 1 no body and day 2 there was a body, then this person may have just been killed and placed there, which could be good news for possible DNA of her killer still being recoverable.

I can totally see why LE wanted this guys prints and to look at his phone with this story.

Probably not relevant but I think the star on the necklace is a Seastar. Kinda goes with the aquatic themed tattoo
