Have they said the age of the refrigerator? Old refrigerators (1950s and prior) often had door mechanisms that could only be opened from the outside, making it possible for someone (often children) to get trapped inside.

Obviously, this case reeks of foul play, but just wanted to throw this misadventure possibility out there.

The victim’s height is reported as 5’ 1”.

The Pine Barrens is sadly a dumping ground for some people, so I guess a refrigerator wouldn’t be so unusual to find.

To me, the necklace reads as a constellation. Perhaps it represents Libra? It’s a little off but the closest zodiac sign that I could find.

Edit to add: I have seen others claim the constellation leans more towards Gemini. It is hard to say!

I don't know anything about refrigerators, but is there anything in their construction that people harvest to sell for scrap? Like how copper gets stolen from construction sites? If he was accessing those materials from the outside first, he might not have opened it until the following day.

Looks close but I don’t know enough about the different signs and constellation designs to make a determination. I have to admit that this conversation and all of the excellent suggestions is very intriguing and has prompted me to learn more about it.

It's just the style of metalworking. The underside may be smooth, but if it's very thin and malleable, it could have corresponding raised bumps like Braille.

The pendant is relatively soft. A harder metal die punch with a point or design (like the star) is placed on the metal and the flat end is struck with a hammer to impress the mark.

If a complex design is being done, like a star map, a tissue paper map of the design is laid over or fixed to the pendant before beginning to guide the placement of the marks.

It's a form of metalworking and design anyone can do, because it doesn't require the metal to be heated.

I do believe it is some kind of constellation or something similar, especially with the star. Just throwing other ideas out there

Police released photos of what the victim presumably looked like before her death, as well as images of “a distinctive yoga mat and necklace” that were both recovered at the scene.

Could it be the Pleiades? It looks like one of the holes isn't as deep as the others, maybe it was a placement mistake and there are only seven stars. Or it could be the seven stars plus the big one.

Are we assuming that this victim had no clothing since none is described? Seems odd to me that she is left dead with a yoga mat and a piece of jewelry, if her clothing was removed. IMO

I think it's safe to say at this point that the deceased isn't someone that's been previously reported missing locally; the tattoos are too distinctive and she would've been matched by now.

I wonder if this is the actual fridge or if 77 AM just used a stock image. Did our friend John Tyrrell have Hello Kitty wallpaper on his phone?
