I have been waiting for this day to come for so long now and was a little shocked to learn they shot him..I honestly thought all this time that there had to have been an altercation and that he may have died during a struggle..but to find out that he was shot? soon after he left the house? It boggles my mind why they followed through with this, after being seen by 2 witnesses at the house who could easily identify them (Wayne and Sharlene). Dellen even told Tim he was from Etobicoke...so why? Did they really believe they would get away with it? Really? Just so senseless and such a sick feeling to know they actually looked his wife in the eyes and spoke to her then had the guts to follow through with killing him.

I thought exactly the same thing. I guessed that he had been strangled from behind by whomever was sitting in the backseat behind him. In retrospect maybe we should have been thinking gun. I have no idea where I would find it, but somewhere in here will be a thread about the guys arrested in connection with the sale of illegal guns which was related to Dellen Millard somehow. I'm going to guess that LE were following the gun and that was some of the fallout.

Fraser says the evidence will show that the pair went to his house with a plan, and shot him in the truck shortly after they headed out together. He says they then got rid of the body by burning it in a livestock incinerator set up outside Millard's air hangar at the Region of Waterloo International Airport.

Millard texted his employees that day, Fraser says, and told them not to come to work: "No one goes to the hangar today. Not even just to grab something."

I wonder how many employees are nosy, like me, and would have gone for a drive by the hanger to see what was going on?!?

Where did DM drive, where a gunshot wouldn't be heard? I live in the sticks, and it's quiet here in the evenings. The sound of a gunshot would be heard for quite a distance, I would think. Will there be a witness called who will testify to hearing the gunshot? Perhaps so.

I'm wondering if maybe the murder part of the plot wasn't premeditated, simply because Tim's truck was used to tow the incinerator. That is really gutsy! If the murder was well planned out I would think the incinerator would already have been in place. I would have also thought the murder would have taken place somewhere other than inside the truck. That created quite a mess to clean up, plus damaged parts they might have been able to chop and sell.

Didn't DM first make contact with TB on May 4th? That meant he had 2 days to plan and prepare before the fateful night. Perhaps it was supposed to be an armed robbery, but Tim fought for his truck harder than they expected such a slight and kind man would. Or maybe somehow Tim found out some information that could identify the men, which is why they decided he could not be left alive. I have no doubt that it wasn't an accidental shooting, but if I were a juror I think it might be hard to determine at what point the plan became about murder and not just theft.

...yes psychopaths works for me,......... especially disturbed by today's evidence tweets in particular MS telling his girlfriend "he's gone gone gone" has me wondering if he said it in the context of being confident/cocky that no physical evidence will be left behind (total incineration) or so he thought......psychopaths facing charges in (alleged multiple) thrill kills, brace yourselves the TB murder is just the tip of the iceberg of what's about to be revealed when all the dust settles JMOO

I know this sounds harsh but...if it was just the truck they were after, why didn't they just pull out a gun(s) after shaking TB's hand and demand the truck keys and flee with the truck. DM could have disguised himself a bit better like with a ball cap or hoodie also. I hardly doubt SB, TB and WD would have put up a fight over the truck. They would have let them take the truck and then called LE/911 reporting the truck as stolen. I don't believe TB would have put up a struggle that night either to keep them from taking the truck, if they tried to force him out alive. IMO one or both murderers wanted the thrill of killing someone. JMO.

I think they were visualizing a plan that had the incinerator at the end of the story...like they watch too many movies or something.

The Hamilton Anglers and Hunters Association is in the area. They shoot there all the time and no one even thinks about it. We train our hunting dogs in the area using blank ammo and fire off starter pistols. I don't think a shot or two in the area would alert anyone to anything. This is a very rural area. This is a farming community. Someone shooting a coyote or raccoon or any critter getting into the crops or livestock would not be uncommon.

IMHO, it's a very big thing. DM is facing the most serious of criminal charges. He has two court rooms packed with onlookers. There are 14 Jury members taking 4 months out of their life to do "their Canadian duty"and provide him with a fair trial. He's got the grieving family members of TB but he chooses to "smile at his supporters?" Seriously?? IMO, this is disgustingly disrespectful- as if no one ever taught the boy any manners!!!! If I was one of his supporters, I would have exited on the first smile from him- if not the first smirk! To sit there and smile back kind of reminds me of a bunch of dogs just wagging their tails when their master pets them. Guess I should cut them some slack- everyone wants to give someone they care about the benefit of the doubt, but the last thing that you'd be expecting is a "smile"- simple eye contact and a nod??? That would work just fine. I'm sure RP is ecstatic that DM is taking notes for him. Heck, who needs a "team" when you've got such an astute & cordial note taking client! Dungy's probably wondering why he couldn't be so lucky!! MOO

I dont feel he was smiling at 'supporters' ! jmo. Of course without being there it's hard to speculate as to whether the smile was a simple friendly gesture or an outright full blown grin. I suspect the former is the truth, as things have a way of becoming exaggerated when we have nothing to go on but second hand information.

As for note taking, it could be that DM is trying to get geared up with knowledge in a case where he is unrepresented. I personally see no harm in note taking, in fact it is a good idea in my opinion.

There appears to be a time lapse in this case so far. Between 10pm and 1-30 a.m.

Why would CM retain video evidence in her home of those 🤬🤬🤬 burning Tim's remains at 1:30 a.m.?

I believe the report was that the Crown alleged that DM and CN were at the hangar at 1-30 a.m. I don't recall that they said there was video of those two burning anybody. JMO

Blackmail? :dunno:

ETA: The video was surveillance from inside the hangar of DM and MS moving about in there. The incinerator was outside and was caught on surveillance from a neighbouring business being "ignited".

The Crown also says a DVR with security footage was found inside Noudga's bedroom. It was from Millard's airplane hangar, Fraser said, and shows Millard and Smich in the hangar around 1:30 a.m. on May 7, 2013 — which is when the Crown says Bosma's body was burned.

Sad to say this is all pretty much exactly how I envisioned it, only I believed they shot him at the farm. That they did it in the truck and made such a mess suggests to me that someone got a little too excited/out of control.

Meanwhile. Almost all the PRIMARY sources reported DM as smirking. Later in the day he finally stopped, so apparently part of his legal team was monitoring the journalists' online reporting. Maybe they advised him it wasn't having his desired effect.

Good point. Blackmail and maybe to ensure she didn't also join the deceased.

The incinerator is a key piece of evidence. The Crown has it on video burning for hours. There are many tweets here on WS reporting the finer details. They have only just outlined their case.

What type of lowlife beasts would just kill and burn humans? Okay, on that thought, I'm heading to bed. Hope I don't have nightmares.

If I'm following correctly, does that make auto body guy/gun box guy "AM", or someone else I've forgotten, or who we maybe never knew about?

Thanks for the quote, nice work from abro as always.

Tim Bosma Trial: the Crown’s opening statement

This is not a transcript of the Crown’s opening statement in the trial of Dellen Millard and Mark Smich for the murder of Tim Bosma. It is based on my notes taken on the first day of the trial. There are parts I did not catch so could not include, but 90% of what happened is here. When I missed a detail, I included a more general but accurate statement.

Forensic testing detected significant amounts of gunshot residue with especially high concentration on the front driver’s side.

This information here is a strong indication that whoever was sitting in the driver's seat was the shooter. No doubt there will be a forensic scientist who will be able to explain to the jurors how they determine their findings.

Of course this is just beginning, only the first day and we are already overwhelmed by so much information. Just wait until the Crown starts bringing out all the solid evidence to back up their opening statement. Now I see why the Crown made the request to skip the PH and the AG approved. MOO.

Sorry, but can someone tell me who was supposed to be driving based on SB's descriptions? I was just never familiar enough with the physical appearances of the accused to follow that part of the testimony (when I picture DM all I see is his haircuts and the one shirt he wore in almost every pic I remember).
