Adam Carter 12:34 PM
Tractors and farm machinery were allowed in this sort of building, Denny says. Trucks and tractors would be allowed in there.

Adam Carter 12:35 PM
"There's nothing illegal about keeping one's car there?" Sachak asks. Denny responds no, as long as it was involved with farming in some way.

Adam Carter 12:36 PM
This application was accepted by the municipality. No cross from Dungey. Denny is excused.

And he bought a condo in Toronto? What was he doing?

Here's an example of a similar sized (4,500 sq. ft.) shed:

Denny says to get permission to build on the farm, one would need permission from the municipality and you'd need to state its purpose.

Adam Carter 12:31 PM
"That was not a secret, it was made very public, correct?" Sachak says. "Yes," Denny responds.

Adam Carter 12:32 PM
Not sure of the significance of this shed, just yet.

Bet no one saw that question coming. So predictable

Was she the executor of WM's estate? And as such had to act on behalf of MillardAir until it was settled? Where all the money and holdings were?

I thought the farm was in DM's name.

And he bought a condo in Toronto? What was he doing?

Liquidating? Moving into a Toronto condo, selling Maple Gate and the hangar and using the farm as his new playground?

I thought the farm was in DM's name.

The farm is but who would be paying for the structure? Or perhaps he just didn't want to deal with the legalities of building it so his mother stepped in to help him out. Judging by the way he doesn't seem to follow laws with regards to his vehicle, perhaps he just doesn't know how to do things "right".

IMO, the only way MB would be able to apply for a building permit on that property is if she was able to prove to the municipality that she had some form of ownership in the land. You just can't go getting permits to build something on someone else's land. DM was not a minor. Now I'm really confused!! DM must have given MB some form of interest in this land. MOO

The significance of this may be:
The crown is proving that this building was only approved for farming related equipment, not a chop shop or chicken farm.

Seeing that DM wasn't involved in farming in some way, what he needed the shed for might be a bit suspect. I'm pretty doubtful that he was looking for a new business venture and aiming to take up farm life. JMO

Interesting....Shane ordered the Eliminator (based on the paperwork we have seen), MB signed the application to build a drive shed. Once again, DM's name is kept out of it.

Maybe MB will be called as a witness and fairly soon.

Was anything ever mentioned along the way about DM and his mother being the beneficiaries of the estate after the father's death.
They may have been named heirs and had equal shares.

Agreed. Financial troubles. Gotta pay for the hobbies and homies.

I think he'd sign anything if it meant he didn't have to do any actual legwork. MOO

Perhaps Millard Properties (or whatever it was called) had an interest in the property, and she may be a shareholder of that company as well.

Is it also possible to apply for permits in a different name than the current owner if the property is going to be sold to another party who only wants to buy if the permits are in place?

Which is what the Crown was trying to point out when the defence won the argument. So now that testimony is just hanging there without clarification. I wonder if there will be more about why they wanted to build this shed.

My personal opinion is that they were going to sell or rent out the hangar and DM needed a place for his "business". The farm is perfect. No more security or legalities. Keep everything private. Imagine if it had been there when they murdered TB? No need to tow the incinerator back and forth. It's all in one place. On private property...away from the road where people can't see anything. Or at least he thought. Seems like the neighbours were better than airport security as far as keeping an eye on the activity on the property. LOL

A 4,400 square foot drive shed would store a lot of vehicles. A LOT of vehicles!

You can use it for more than just vehicle storage (though that excavator looked to need a big space). My neighbour across the road has a large one with shop facilities (metal and woodworking for vehicle and fence repair, building gates and such, tool and equipment storage). He's got some of those huge watering devices for horses, a place to hitch up horses for the guy who comes and trims their hooves and puts shoes on the carriage horses, and so forth.
