3 years ago an article on CM. It stated he transported cars and car parts as well as horses.

Family business??

ETA:
Company historyEdit

Millardair was founded in 1963 by legendary aviator, Carl Millard*[2](1913–2006) and was based in*Toronto,*Canada. Operations began using the*Douglas DC-3. The main business was flying automotive parts and other cargo.[3]

IIRC CM died in 2006, long before that article was published. Yes, FWIK, CM was active in that type of business but it doesn't appear that WM continued on with it. By 2008, Millardair only had 2 Navajo's and the Bell Helicopter. MOO

He is in it up to his eyeballs if he ordered a Windshield removal tool .... it is required for switching the VIN (serial number on upper dash) .... and that is only done on stolen vehicles ..... but he will get off .... somebody has been singing from day one and it must be SS. I think we will see him as a witness for the prosecution. That is where the LB info will likely originate too.

Then SS had never done it before (switching VIN) as he had probably never bought the special tool before?

I don't think they expected the wedding and it represented a bit of a glitch for them (unable to follow MS)

It was a pretty highly publicized event closely connected to him if they did any research on him, though. I'd hope they were privy to the event. I'd wonder if they tried to find a way to monitor him there but couldn't without raising too many flags.
I don't know if consideration for the family was the driving factor. My guess would be that they were seeing what he might lead them to that would help the case and further their grounds for arrest.

3 years ago when I first read about this (there was another article, can't find it) I found it ironic that he specialized in car and car part transportation. The other article mentioned "exotic imports" and had locations (which was also ironic) as the location was mentioned 3 years ago pertaining to DM'S friends/family. Wish I could find all that but with all the new trail stuff being reported, I'm having a tough time finding stuff.

On Wednesday the 22nd, police were told their objective was to arrest Smich.
by Adam Carter 2:18 PM

Around 10 a.m., Oxley saw Smich on a BMX bike on an overpass overlooking the QEW in Oakville. "I grabbed Mr. Smich, placed him on the ground, put him under arrest for first-degree murder."
by Adam Carter 2:19 PM

Smich was with his girlfriend at the time. "Mr. Smich was yelling at Marlena repeatedly, 'don't tell them anything, babe.'"

I wish we were told why Smich was sought as the other suspect. What led LE to him?

Millard's lawyer Ravin Pillay now cross examining. He's asking about what Smich was yelling. She was being placed under arrest at the time too.
by Adam Carter 2:22 PM

Oxley says Smich repeatedly yelled, "Don't tell them anything, babe."
by Adam Carter 2:22 PM

Oxley says he didn't hear Smich's girlfriend say anything back to him.
by Adam Carter 2:23 PM

The two were eventually separated.

I wonder what charge they would have had against MM?

WOW so they arrested her as well?

Pillay is now done. One Smich's lawyers, Jennifer Trehearne, just asks about what Oxley was wearing at the time of the arrest. He says plain clothes, with a tactical vest over them.
by Adam Carter 2:25 PM

Oxley steps down.

MOO

I don't think MM took SM's advice.

What were you wearing at the time of the arrest???? Really???

  • #179
I feel like in the early days of the trial I couldn't keep up with the thread. Now I'm reloading about once every ten minutes.

(Sorry, this is a dumb thing to complain about, it's just a slow afternoon in general.)

Edit:

What were you wearing at the time of the arrest???? Really???

Yeah, this is a very confusing day.

Arnie was the one that mentioned it was necessary to remove the windshield to change the VIN, so maybe he can give us a bit more detail- Arnie??? Toss us your "coles notes" version on changing a VIN :) Please & thank you!! :)

im not arnie, but the windshield needs to be removed to drill out the rivits that hold the vin plate to the dash. More importantly, when one VIN comes off, another needs to go back on.... The rivits are a special type btw, not very easy to obtain.

imho'oo
EDIT TO AD "vin"
