That was my first thought too but Williams just testified that the only employee DM kept was SS. I am assuming that means MB joined the payroll afterward.

I added to my question. I'm going to assume that she was always a non employee who was on the payroll. This may be how she was "kept financially secure" by her ex-husband and then her son?

Rereading the testimony, it just says MB was on payroll but had no job there. DM letting all employees go except SS does not necessarily imply MB was not being paid before.

I feel for these witnesses that have had to wait for almost 3 years. I can't see how it wouldn't be eating away at you. So far it sounds like Williams has a ton of info. Also, WM would have arranged the loan- IMHO, the bank may capped the amount at the outstanding amount at the time of WM's death once they found out that the MRO wasn't going ahead as planned. I cannot believe how frequently we are hearing SS and MB. MS may be wondering why he's the only one sitting there beside DM! MOO

I find it incomprehensible that after WMs death, the bank wouldn't have sent someone over to check on their $3.7M investments? Was DM simply using the loan to keep him afloat until the inheritance was finalized?

would there not be insurance on the loan? perhaps though would suicide be covered?

She started doing the books for the new company in Jan 2012. We didn't get clarification if MB had always been on the payroll but I'm thinking she was. This must be something WM had set up for her.

I'm willing to bet MS is hearing a ton of info he never had a clue about...

So if this was the "book keeper", who is the accountant and will we be hearing from him?

Is it possible that she was a paid board member?
IMHO, if that was the case they would not be invoicing the Company. She was obviously supplying services to Millardair i.e.) decorating, telephone answering, filling in race forms for their employees- that type of thing. MOO

He has seen discovery. He knows all about it now. Why do you think he's so angry? ;)

ETA: J/K really. He gets no pass and I think he knew exactly why DM wanted to steal that truck.

Good question. Williams made a point of mentioning the debt, but never said that it had been erased.

IMHO, that would be complete speculation but I'm sure we'll get the answer when MB testifies.

May be speculation, but also a pretty safe bet IMO. Probably worked out better for WM to pay his alimony out of company expenses rather than out of his own pocket.

I'm having a difficult time following the testimony to be honest. The Crown seems to be all over the place. We were talking about video footage in early May, the Napa guys in early May and now all of a sudden we're arresting MS in mid May. It just isn't flowing and I think I know more than a lot of jurors.

I was convinced that we were being set up for the video at the hangar and now we've backtracked.

We certainly need to keep our thinking caps on!

The Crown is going to have a video surveillance specialist eventually taking the stand to go through all the videos captured. Perhaps they are waiting until closer to the end of the trial to make a huge impact on the jurors. It'll be fresh in their minds when it's time to deliberate. I imagine some of the videos are not too clear so the specialist will have ways of making them more identifiable such as overlays, measurement, specs, identifying colours etc. IYKWIM. This was done in MR's case to show it was his vehicle that drove through a gas station parking lot right around the time Tori was abducted. MOO.

and why he is not with the other defendants? I say they have more evidence pointing at him right now than MS

I can't report on anything that's said in the absence of the jury.

We're now taking afternoon recess for 20 minutes.

Spoke too soon - court being recalled, the jury is now being excused for the day.

Yep. Last thing the jury is going to see is Millard firing up the Eliminator. Visual pictures ar far more impactful than words.

And she would invoice him? That seems to be a strange way to pay alimony. MOO
