Wasn't SS selling DM's stuff after DM was arrested?

  • #22
I can't pinpoint how I feel about SS being paid until April 2015.....

Does not bode well IMO as to how much "truth" he's going to be bringing to this trial. I think we can guess on who he is going to place the blame for the murder in his narrative.

Williams spoke with police after Millard was arrested. Moodie is referring to page five of her police statement.

Feb 25 2016 11:38 AM
"But the business, as far as the business ones, there is zero income on those ones," her statement says. The officer asking her questions then asked "they were operating at a loss -- bankrolling it?" She responds, "Exactly, yeah."

Feb 25 2016 11:39 AM
"If you're going by the money that's in the bank account, I'd say things are getting tight. Very tight," her statement reads.

Projected amount of money Millard would make in 2013 was $125,00, she says.

Feb 25 2016 11:42 AM
Sachak now talking about how Williams doesn't have formal training. She is not a chartered accountant or an accountant - she never went to university or college to study to become an accountant. She never studied business management. Has never taken a bookkeeping course. "You are a self taught woman?" Sachak asks. "Yes," she says.

Feb 25 2016 11:43 AM
Wayne Millard was in charge of MillardAir and Millard Properties until his death. Dellen Millard got involved around December 2012, Williams says.

*** I thought DM was "in charge" of MillardAir when the new building was opened. He was the CEO. ;)

Feb 25 2016 11:44 AM
Williams says she could write cheques, but not sign them or pay any bills. She could prepare them, but Millard would have to sign off.

Feb 25 2016 11:45 AM
"We know now you don't have any expertise or real knowledge to opine on the financial affairs of a corporation," Sachak says.

Feb 25 2016 11:46 AM
Sachak now talking about how Williams would put information into an accounting program called Quick Books.

Feb 25 2016 11:46 AM
"You would input the data -- that was pretty much your function," Sachak says.

Feb 25 2016 11:47 AM
"Your job was to take this material, take it in a Quick Books program and categorize it," Sachak says. She agrees.

***I hope the defense was not able to block the actual CPA from testifying. Although I'm starting to question whether there was an actual accountant. :waitasec:

Defence says Williams had no authority to sign off on anything and had no expertise for her job @CHCHNews #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 26s26 seconds ago
She had no cheque signing abilities. Her job was to take bills/invoices, paperwork, and input into QuickBook. #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 37s38 seconds ago
Sachak: "Your job wasn't to question why/where money was going...your job was to categorize it." She agrees. #Bosma

Nicole Martin ‏@nmartinCHCH now
Defence "If you did not know why an item was purchased you wouldn't ask why?" Williams says no. She would input data on Quickbooks @CHCHNews

Nicole Martin ‏@nmartinCHCH 21s22 seconds ago
Williams agrees that her job was to categorize the expenses not to question them. @CHCHNews #Bosma

Feb 25 2016 11:48 AM
There was no income in January 2012, Williams says. There were expenses though -- the hangar construction at the Waterloo airport didn't finish until December of that year.

Feb 25 2016 11:50 AM
We're now hearing about the statement Williams gave to police. She was instructed to go there by Robert Burns -- Millard's uncle.

Feb 25 2016 11:51 AM
She says she didn't know that the questioning would be about expenditures and the financial well being of Millard. "Did you have any idea what they wanted to speak to you about?" Sachak says. "No, I assume they wanted to talk about Dellen being arrested," she says.

Feb 25 2016 11:53 AM
Sachak now saying she didn't know about what the hangar was worth. "There was a lot of equipment in that hangar. You don't even know the value of the equipment in that hangar." He says. Correct, she says.

Feb 25 2016 11:54 AM
"It's not only just the money that's coming in our out that determines the financial wellbeing of the company," Sachak says. "Yes," she responds.

***Nice try Sachak. The value of the properties and content don't count for liquid cash available to buy a truck.

just my opinion but I'm kinda seeing no advantage to dellen killing his father..but I am seeing a reason WM might kill himself..the finances were pretty overwhelming.

  • #33
Wasn't SS selling DM's stuff after DM was arrested?

From what we seen back then (3yeas ago) he was selling off cars ad toys I believe. But I wouldn't think this would be a "pay roll" job but rather a percentage of each item sold??

  • #34
just my opinion but I'm kinda seeing no advantage to dellen killing his father..but I am seeing a reason WM might kill himself..the finances were pretty overwhelming.

I think that $3.7M loan would be good reason?? No? We have yet to hear what became of that money.

  • #35
Recall reading sometime back that SS stayed on and dealt with the process of selling all of the DM toys left behind in the hangar.
Is MB's salary coming out of the proceeds and also from the sale of the properties that she managed for her son?
I'd like to hear the full story on the 3.7 m....real estate purchases of the farm and Distillery condo do not explain it all.

Feb 25 2016 11:54 AM
Sachak now talking about how she was not Millard's personal accountant, so she didn't have knowledge of his personal finances. "You were not Dellen Millard' personal bookkeeper." Sachak says. "No, I was not," she responds.

***I hope this means there's an accountant on the horizon? And how could they, in good faith, have allowed these expenitures? Is Sachak blowing smoke here suggesting that she is not his accountant but failing to mention they didn't actually have one? Didn't this woman say she did their taxes?? Wouldn't their accountant do that?

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 4m4 minutes ago
She tells the defence she was just guessing money was tight and she has no idea what the value of the company's equipment and assets

Nicole Martin ‏@nmartinCHCH 4m4 minutes ago
Defence says that Williams didn't know the value of the hanger on May 14, 2013 when she gave the statement saying times were tight @CHCHNews

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 3m3 minutes ago
Under cross, Williams agrees #Millard Air had expenses but no income before Dellen took over, when his father Wayne was still alive

Nicole Martin ‏@nmartinCHCH 3m3 minutes ago
Williams admits that she can't comment on the overall financial wellbeing of the company only the #'s she could see in the bank @CHCHNews

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 3m3 minutes ago
When she gave statement to police re: bank acct being tight, she did not know full value of hangar, equipment etc, Sachak says. She agrees.

Nicole Martin ‏@nmartinCHCH 3m3 minutes ago
Williams is not #Millard's personal bookkeeper or accountant. She did not know how much money he was making. @CHCHNews #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 2m2 minutes ago
She tells the defence when she told police money was tight she was talking about MillardAir and not Dellen Millard's personal finances

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 2m2 minutes ago
Similarly he suggests she didn't know extent of his properties, investments etc. She agrees. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 1m1 minute ago
#Millard Air hangar was still under construction at beginning of 2012. Dellen took over Dec 2012. #TimBosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
"So when you're talking about $ being tight you're talking about s corporation, you're not talking about Dellen Millard." Correct. #Bosma

Nicole Martin ‏@nmartinCHCH 34s35 seconds ago
Williams agrees that when Dellen took over MillardAir a number of people were laid off. @CHCHNews #Bosma

Feb 25 2016 11:55 AM
Williams says she dealt with Wayne Millard before Dellen Millard took over the company.

Feb 25 2016 11:56 AM
"There was nothing there coming in, and there was nothing to deal with in that department," she said. Wayne Millard went through every bill and expense before she entered it into Quick Books, she says

Feb 25 2016 11:57 AM
Williams says that when Dellen Millard took over the company, employees were laid off. There was a meeting before that happened, she says, they were laid off and given a severance.

Feb 25 2016 11:58 AM
"Even when Dellen Millard took over, the expenses were getting paid," Sachak says. "Yes," she responds.

Feb 25 2016 11:58 AM
The $3.7M loan that was taken over was used to "restructure the business" and pay expenses, Sachak says. She agrees.

Feb 25 2016 11:59 AM
When Millard took over, there was a discussion about what to do with the business, Williams says. The plan was to rent out the hangar to planes overnight. "There'd be a hotel for the planes," Sachak says. She responds yes.

Feb 25 2016 12:00 PM
"It's not unusual, you'd agree with me, for a business to change directions to generate income?" Sachak says. "Yes," she responds.

***Restructure the business?? Show us one thing that indicates that the business was "restructured". One notice that MillardAir was in business and ready to operate as a rental facility. I guess that's a fancy term for "he wanted to keep the money and had to make up something to tell the bank".

3.7 mill was just that..a loan and if it was insured I think suicide would null and void the insurance..also it looks like from yesterday's testimony it was held and collected when the Riverside property sold..so they must have maybe used the house as collateral for the loan? They had to pay lease 19,000 a month plus expenses/hydro etc and now learning MB was paid 5,000/month..with nothing coming in how did the place stay afloat? You would have some sort of payment per month as well for the 3.7 mill.

  • #40
just my opinion but I'm kinda seeing no advantage to dellen killing his father..but I am seeing a reason WM might kill himself..the finances were pretty overwhelming.

He just got an overwhelmingly positive $3.7 M show of support from the bank and was nearing completion of the project.
