She went to police in 2013 at the urging of DM's uncle to tell them what she knew about the plan to go to Baja. Perhaps she regrets that decision as she still appears to be friendly with MB and DM and still continued to do work for them after the fact. Personally, I find it interesting that so far we see two people (SS and LW) who likely have some damning information about DM but were "kept in the fold" so to speak by MB. So I don't expect either of their testimony to be all out truthful and accurate.

This doesn't make sense to me at all. She knew Millard has been arrested, she did his books but didn't think they would ask her about that???

Naive. (seems to be a reoccuring theme so far surrounding DM or just flat out stupidity IMO) They're going to want to know your connection to the accused.

Essentially LW is an accounting CLERK. She inputs data, reconciles the bank statements, deposits cheques and handles Payroll etc. These are accounting clerk jobs that don't require formal education so I am not surprised to hear she is self taught. To call her an Accountant is wrong.

The visits in prison are odd I would think. Man, if I were her, I would have up and quit and that would be the end of it.

How does SS continue on the payroll with MA when he is on the no contact list and it now appears that DM was carrying on business while still in prison? Wow!

I don't know about SS. Still on the payroll in 2015? Am I missing something?

It's all very strange.

I did what she does for several years on the side for a couple of small carpenter/cabinet installers. I have no schooling for that either. I would simply enter everything just the way they asked (they would provide me with receipts in individual envelopes marked Entertainment, or fuel or office supplies etc. and I would enter in a program and forward to an accountant for the end of year for taxes. Just plain data entry in reality. I never asked any questions. And my submissions to their accountants were category totals. If their accountant scrutinized anything and asked to see the individual entries for a category, I wouldn't know. It was between them and the tax gods after it left my hands. But having said that, if either of them got arrested and I was asked to speak to LE, my first instinct would be that they wanted to know "number and money" info.

Maybe that is why they hired someone like her instead of "real" bookkeeper? Easier to get away with things.

[SS was still being paid because he was working to sell off DM's toys from the hangar. He worked right up into 2015 and then the hangar was sold.
Ha.....DM did not to have contact directly with SS. LM could prepare the cheques and have DM sign them when she happened to go for a visit ....I'm just thinking.

The tangled web goes on and on and on and on]

This defense isn't the most intelligent ever. I doesn't take a CA to figure out that 125K is not enough to run the hangar. It isn't even enough to pay the rent. Plus their is employees to pay, plus other general operating expenses. Even Joe Blow can do the math and say there is a lot more going out then coming in. Now let's pay for a truck out of that good luck.

What I also find odd is when AJ testified he said SS told him he was going into quit the next day as he wanted no part of this. We now know this to be a lie he told AJ. One has to assume with the way SS has been tossed around and how he remained on payroll that something fishy is/was going on between the 2 of them.

So if there is no business being done by MA - no money coming in - how is the payroll being funded? Sale of the hangar? Sale of Properties?

And all those credit cards....hmmmm I wonder how much was racked up on those?

DM may have had the cash and his own plans for the cash and the company, but it was the bank's cash. DM couldn't unilaterally change direction of the company without telling the bank - they could pull the loan on him (which it seems they later did.)

The family coffers were running low - the hangar wasn't running on Millard cash anymore, but being propped up by the bank.

Once WM died there were no real plans that would have brought in the needed income. There was a forecast that renting the hangar would bring in $125,000/year...but with MB drawing $60k/year, DM likely something similar...there was no money left over for a truck in that $125k.

A text message from Williams to Millard showed that in 2013 it was projected MillardAir would earn $125,000 @CHCHNews

Millard's lawyer said that $125k projected would have been more than enough for #millard to buy a truck.

...and pay MB and DM and SS?

plus 19,000/month lease

They had a $3.7 million bank loan...could pay salaries, buy condos with that, but that money was earmarked for hangar equipment so the bank called the loan in once things were no longer headed that way. It wasn't technically their money.

Didn't she say DM would earn 125K? I know one of the tweets said MillardAir would, but the rest of them said Millard.

Now cross by Sachak. Millard made $125,000/year.

Only tweets with that number above

[In 2012 there was a fair bit of talk about WM wanting to take the company in a new direction. I vaguely recall whether from newspapers or this forum that WM pretty much told DM 'clean out your toys and garbage' and get ready to do some real business in the hangar. That was about the time WM secured the big money from RBC in October 2012 and just a short time before his death.
There was a lot of speculation that DM did not necessarily approve and that may have inspired him to hasten his father's demise.
In November 2012 WM died and DM took charge. It was DM you dismissed the 14 employees with the exception of SS.
DM had the cash and his own plans for the cash and the company.]

He had hired a Management Consultant (The "Koz" - Robert Kozlowski ), if I remember well. Maybe he will sometime also enter the stand?

http://globalnews.ca/news/561827/who-is-dellen-millard/

It appears the legendary aviation services business recently fell on hard times: In a March 23 post on a blog for the Canadian Owners and Pilots Association in Ottawa, a man writing under the name Robert Kozlowski was looking for renters.

“I’m trying to get the word out about the availability of our hangar at Kitchener/Waterloo Airport,” he wrote. “You might know the history behind the Millard family and how they have contributed to Canadian aviation.”

Kozlowski added that just as the company’s latest venture was getting started, “the president Wayne Millard passed away and the family decided to shut down the MRO.

“That has left the family with a very large hangar and we are looking for tenants.”

I bet all these legal arguments is Pillay saying how is any of this relevant?

  • #100
Maybe the relevancy lies in the fact that time and time again Dellen Millard is being portrayed as a rich kid who could BUY whatever he wanted whenever he wanted and that he didn't need to steal a truck therefore he didn't <modsnip>

All of this disproves that line of thought. MOO
