Ok....trying to absorb the testimony by this witness and the purpose of him being called by the Crown. Let's think about it from the angle of the Crown NOT calling him. Does that then give the Defense the opportunity to really play the "he bought the incinerator for legitimate business purposes" angle? By bringing in a FAMILY member that is a VET who was never approached by DM about a new venture that he clearly may be interested in....it kinda throws a lot of doubt on his claim that he was going into pet cremation. I mean seriously...if this was a new business venture, wouldn't you discuss this with a family member that could use your new service?

To me it is similar to the Crown asking about the doors of the trailing flying open on the highway. Get it out in the open before the Defense has their chance to make it a bigger deal than it is. MOO

DM told CD that he and Burns were going into the business. CD told Burns, and that was the first Burns ever heard about it. I don't think he ever actually saw the Eliminator.

Holy smokes. I confused myself. Good thing tomorrow is an off day, apparently it's much needed.
:shame:

Thanks for clearing it up lol

Yeah, after much confusion (and me cutting out in the middle of the testimony because I'm always afraid these cases will veer into animal cruelty, which I CANNOT handle), I have come to the conclusion above. Hopefully the jury did too.

LE said it was a bungalow with a garage- those are few and far between on Maple Grove.

Only one house that I can see on Old Maple Grove Road that fits that description, and it looks like it was a rental at one point. Can't tell if it was 2013.

A Canada reverse addy search does bring up about 15 names and residential addresses on Maple Grove Road in Cambridge. No names that we've hard before in relation to this case.

I don't see that many. It shows a few that are in other cities. I see about 7 in Cambridge.

We get all next week to un-confuse ourselves as well!

This is how I read it as well. CD to RB: " I heard you and your nephew are going into the pet cremation biz" RB: Really
First I ever heard about this"...hence the shock. IMO.... Should be cleared up this afternoon when CD takes the stand.

Well it was charged to the Millardair garbage account. LW said nothing stood out to her about that invoice, so I doubt DM told it was a separate, new venture. It was just to be slushed in with the Millardair stuff.

Good point. Would it not be logical, had a pet cremation business been a real idea that LW's own husband CD was supposed to have been involved with, that LW would have just stated then and there that the invoice was of course for CD's and DM's new business venture?

It makes no sense to me that she would not have associated that invoice with such a business if it had ever been discussed prior to her seeing it, and it's harder to accept if a new business was in the works between CD and DM that LW would have no knowledge of it since CD is her husband.

All MOO.

Yes. I only see 7, but it's actually showing the numbers on Old Maple Grove Rd. My grandmother and my aunt each had houses on Old Maple Grove, so I know it well. At least 2 of the names listed have lived there forever.

I can't get the higher numbers on the new Maple Grove Rd. to show up.

The idea that DM could take MA funds to buy the incinerator and use it for another side business sounds ridiculous. If he put his OWN cash into buying it to start a sideline is one thing but putting on the MA tab says it was absolutely NOT going to be used for his so called side business. I suspect it is as some have suggested simply a cover story. I still have a horrible gut feeling he was planning on providing a 'disposal service' to 'other' groups in the periphery. JMO

We own a vet hspt and use a cremation service. The cremation company was established and is owned by the vets, who all have shares in the company. It helps keep costs down. Vets aren't going to switch cremation service providers just because there's a new option out there. After all, if their company generates a profit, they get dividends. It's almost like a co-op.

I agree, that he had other disposal services in mind.

WM did a lot of market research for the MRO and DM would have been exposed to the formal methods of doing that in business. That means inquiring around and seeing what solutions people use and what the market is for the services and seeing if there is any money to be made. DM would have talked to people about it extensively. Sounds like a thin cover story to me.
