Why was the Crown not allowed to point out the inconsistencies in SS's statements? (ie: he LIED to the police.....) or were they allowed to but chose not to? Or would that have been a "leading" question that is only allowed on cross examination? Colour me confused.....I feel like TD's cross did more for the Crown than the Crown's actual questioning.....MOO

Now that TS has fleshed out many inconsistencies and outright lies in SS's testimony, perhaps the Crown will come on stronger with him when they question SS again after lunch? IMO, the Crown's case is trying to prove that both DM and MS are guilty as charged, so I don't know how they'll proceed with SS this afternoon, but it may get interesting, IMO.

Also, I think the fact that TD did not go after JV or SH on the stand as he did with SS, adds credibility to their testimony. I hope the jury will notice that difference and assess their witness statements given under oath accordingly, IMO.

Just caught up. Wow! What a great session by TD. Not only did he paint a more accurate picture of how DM's business actually worked, he also helped to corroborate the testimony by JV. After hearing this round of testimony by SS, doesn't it make you hear JV's testimony in a much clearer light? DM's life and business was so disjointed and run by his minions. Rich playboy with money to burn has kinda flown out the window as well. MOO

IMO TD opened the door that the Crown wasn't able to, re: stolen items, turning a blind eye and lying to police. Now that the door has been opened, I bet the Crown can move forward with questions surrounding Thurs evening discussions between SS and DM and the truck being moved that evening.

Perhaps around 5:50pm they connected on the phone, and SS informed DM about AJ's call to Crimestoppers, thus prompting DM to move the truck from the hangar to his mom's driveway?

IMO Something was communicated between DM and SS before that 9:49 PM text regarding TB and the truck. No way does DM just blurt that out. Did SS call him from home after meeting with FIL? Don't think we heard what time meeting with family was held.

I have been following this trial and reading along on here everyday so I am excited to finally join in the conversation!

MS's lawyer really seems to be earning his keep today. Can SS get in trouble for saying "I don't know" and evading questions that he is now giving answers to? Is that considered perjury?

This whole relationship with people who actually work for DM is really sick IMO....Reminds me of the time of plantation owners---Boss walking around with his buggy whip and everyone works it out right quick....the answers are "Yes Sir". "No Sir". "How high Sir". I had thought it strange when JV was so formal with DM when he got back to him after missing DM's call.....and then with Shaner saying 'did I upset you'. They were not being obsequious or condescending---they were responding the way Master had trained them....DISGUSTING ---what??? Is this how DM thinks the rich are entitled to behave ? SICK mind in every way.

I'm blown away that there could be more trials coming out of this (the stolen goods).

Gun trial, TB tiral, LB trial, WM trial, CN trial, thefts trial...it's almost like they are breaking down a gang that was running under the Millardair banner.

If all they have is one shell casing and supposedly no gun, what would this person be testifying to? Is it possible LE actually do have the gun and the Crown just haven't said anything yet in court?

This trial has become just the most amazing classroom with lessons in the law, lawyers. the Canadian Court system, the depravity of some human beings and even simple lessons in the truth--the whole truth and nothing but the truth.

SS's testimony can certainly be considered suspect and therefore perhaps he can be impeached. Which would mean that his testimony is not considered credible and the jury has the right to disregard it.

This explains DMs behaviour towards MS in court. Probably still thinks that staring him down and smirking, chuckling etc will intimidate him. Don't get me wrong, I think that MS is a but the more that I hear during this trial about how he treated his friends/employees/real estate agent, he didn't seem to have any relationships that were honest or balanced.

What I find funny is how DM's defense team is trying to show how loaded he is. When it appears to most outsiders he is using the bargain basement Lionel Hutz type lawyers.

MS - The perceived free loader and never worked is using the far superior lawyer.

This is the second time TD has tore apart Sachak cross rather easily.

What a day so far.....

Yes today is quite the juxtaposition at the courthouse. Celebrating the birthday of a man who is held in the highest regard amongst his friends, family and most people attending this trial during breaks while another man, who is proving himself to be lower than a snake IMO, is being grilled on the stand for his lying during a murder investigation/trial and his "loyalty" to the murderer.
