Well I'll admit it, MH made me cry. Just because he was doing incredibly stupid things 3 years ago doesn't mean the kid doesn't have remorse for ever being involved with DM, and even more so genuine grief for what happened to Tim Bosma at the hand of his "friend". I feel bad for him. I hope he can get some kind of counselling to help him deal with this nightmare.

He's young, it's part of the maturing process. That Colin Butler from the CBC is pretty contemptuous in his tweets about him 'sniveling' - no wonder no one's willing to show remorse on the stand. Maybe Butler should report on sports or something.

Sachak going hard on Hagerman about this. Hagerman emotional. Sachak suggesting he was in on mission for the fun of it. Hagerman agrees.

"this was a group activity amongst your friends. It was like an adventure, woo were going to get walkie talkies and go on a mission," S says

Millard's lawyer: This was a group activity among your friends, as perverse as it might sound, an adventure? Hagerman: Yes

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 1m1 minute ago
Sachak suggests Hagerman took part in the theft as an adventure "perverse as it may sound," Hagerman whimpers "yes." #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 1m1 minute ago
Hagerman agrees. Sachak suggests they'd talk about it afterwards. He says he doesn't recall. #Bosma

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 1m1 minute ago Toronto, Ontario
Hagerman says he doesn't remember talking about the missions with his friends and texts messages about the thefts #Bosma

Sounds like a revised version of a play date for youngsters......but these guys are no kids. Theft over $5000 doesn't sound like a kid's game to me or my grandmother

Crown Brett Moodie isn't in court today; his wife just had a baby boy. Congrats from all!

Hard to explain the burner phone, tho.

Do you think the burner phones were for the drug trafficking? I always assumed Smich's burners were for that purpose but now I am wondering how involved DM was as well in the sale of drugs.

I think that's the same guy from yesterday that called Daly a "stoner". Yeah, keepin' it classy, that one.

Sachak asks if he knew "kowalski's" video game name. "Stealth missions," Hagerman says. #Bosma

I wonder how long he had that name? very telling IMO.

I also wonder how many of the clan will be back on the stand in the future (2017)?

Hagerman says he was scared. Didn't want his name, his family name out there--"especially my grandmother." #Bosma

Did any of my Canadian friends on here have a Burton Cummings song pop into their heads after reading this one?
Break it to them gently when you tell my Mom and Dad
When you see my baby sister be as kind as you can
And break it to my Grandma, who said, "That boy's wild and bad"
Break it to them gently when you tell them
That I won't be coming home again

This was the first "mission" text we saw from DM to Hagerman. The one he said didn't end up happening. #Bosma

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 18s19 seconds ago
Jury is back. Millard childhood friend Matt Hagerman still in the witness box being questioned by Millard lawyer Nadir Sachak. #Bosma

The way Sachak was going off on Hagerman, I almost questioned myself as to who was actually on trial here. Personally, I would need a ton of anxiety meds after sitting with this kind of information for so long. moo

Sachak now asking about texts between Millard and Hagerman from Oct. 2, 2012. This was the conversation where Millard was looking for a lookout for stealing lawnmowers.
by Adam Carter 11:53 AM

In one of those texts, Hagerman says "I'd be able and willing to help around 1." "There is no duress. There is no control over you, correct?" Sachak says. Hagerman says yes.
by Adam Carter 11:55 AM

In one of those messages, Hagerman says he's going to drop off his girlfriend and can meet up.

"You're prepared to help, you want to help, you're physically capable of helping and you're willing to help," Sachak says texts show. Yes.

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 5s6 seconds ago Toronto, Ontario
Millard's lawyer asking Hagerman, Millard's lifelong friend, about a series of texts about a mission in Oct. 2012. #Bosma

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 13s14 seconds ago Toronto, Ontario
Millard's lawyer: There's no control, correct? Hagerman: Correct. Millard's lawyer: There's no domination? Hagerman: Correct

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 10s11 seconds ago
They were to steal lawnmowers and Hagerman agrees that he was willing and able to help without coercion, control or domination. #Bosma

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 23s23 seconds ago Toronto, Ontario
Millard's lawyer: No control, no domination, you want to partake in a group activity with your friend? Hagerman: Yes #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 18s18 seconds ago
The plan was to steal lawn mowers. #Bosma

If that is the only part that looks sketchy and hard to explain away with reasonable doubt, that makes me nervous about what the jury will think.

I do have strong hope for justice, I just worry about so much circumstantial evidence. Hopefully the next few witnesses will help solidify the jury's mind towards a conviction.

MOO.

I'm not worried about reasonable doubt on a planned theft. Unless something new in the way of evidence is coming down the pipe I think it would be a mistake to insult the jury's intelligence by asking them to believe otherwise. History of theft, burner phone, mumbled fake name, stashed personal vehicle for both test drives, the anticipated testimony from AM regarding foreknowledge and DM's own behaviour after the fact. Please.

This 'mission' was to steal lawnmowers, orchestrated by Millard #Bosma

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 18s19 seconds ago Toronto, Ontario
Millard was offering $50 for lookouts #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 5s5 seconds ago
When DM tells him it pays "$5 or credit toward future grabs," Sachak says that's a reference to future thefts. Hagerman agrees. #Bosma

Shannon Martin ‏@ShannonMartinTV 15s16 seconds ago Toronto, Ontario
Millard's lawyer: It was fun, a sense of adventure, right? Hagerman: Yes #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 26s26 seconds ago
Sachak suggests they did this because the notion of getting away with it was fun. You didn't need the $50, he says. Hagerman agrees. #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 32s32 seconds ago
Sachak establishes "there is no coercion, no control or domination. You want to participate in a group activity with your friends." #Bosma

Plus he laid out a hefty chunk of cash for the incinerator when we know he MUCH preferred a five-finger discount for his toys.

Hagerman agrees he did it not for the money but for fun and adventure. Then he says "money may have been an incentive, I can't tell you"

Susan Clairmont ‏@susanclairmont 13s13 seconds ago
Usually everyone is subpoenaed. Exception is Eliminator guy from Georgia. Can't compel from outside Canada.

Colin Butler ‏@ColinButlerCBC 10s10 seconds ago
Hagerman also notes "these events never transpired." #Bosma

Lisa Hepfner ‏@HefCHCHNews 8s8 seconds ago
Sachak: "You wanted to steal for a sense of adventure. It was fun." Hagerman: "Yes." #Bosma

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 7s8 seconds ago
"He never said 'you know Matt, I'm poor, I've got to steal some lawn mowers. He didn't say that right?" Sachak says. He didn't need the $.

molly hayes ‏@mollyhayes 13s13 seconds ago
Hagerman agrees. #Bosma

Millard again offers $50 to participate in the grab.
by Adam Carter 11:57 AM

"This is, as silly as it sounds, you and your friends wanted to steal for the sense of adventure," Sachak says. Hagerman says yes.
by Adam Carter 11:58 AM

"At no point ever did Mr. Millard say to you ... Matt, I'm poor, I've gotta steal some lawn mowers so I can become rich," Sachak says. Hagerman says no.
by Adam Carter 12:00 PM

Oh, we're returning to the 'he was too rich to steal stuff' narrative.

It was all just boyish shenanigans!

Yeah, ok.

So I missed yesterday due to a trip to Ottawa for the day and I'm just catching up. WOW did I miss a good day!!!! Why couldn't this have been during some "chain of evidence" testimony?

Quite the pattern of behaviour that is being established for DM. The killing of TB aside...what a pattern of thefts we are hearing about! MOO

And I know I am very late to this but I will comment....regarding MS stating he is going to be framed and he wasn't even there.....if he truly wasn't there and felt he was being framed...you go to police. It's really that simple. I don't care what your relationship is with someone, if it the murder of an innocent person comes into play and you legitimately were not there...you don't sell weed and a gun to hire a lawyer..you go to LE as quickly as possible, I don't care what past misadventures you've been involved in. Helping steel a Bobcat is very different than murder. MOO

Oh...lastly...a reminder that tomorrow is the day to wear purple in memory of sweet Tori Stafford...her favourite colour. :)
