I think TD is doing whatever he can to expose the character weaknesses in the testimony of every witness who in the past covered for DM or was involved with his theft "capers". He wants to demonstrate that DM had power and control over their actions, and IMO, TD is just doing his job as MS's lawyer, and he's doing it better than DM's team by far, IMO.
I don't think it comes across as too tough in the context of this trial where many of these witnesses did try to protect DM and/or themselves with nary a thought of TB or his family. It is the cold, hard truth and it is not easy to hear for the witnesses - or us - but it is nonetheless necessary for the whole puzzle to be solved, IMO.
All MOO.
