So for a couple days at this point, the news was flooded with, "looking for a guy with 'ambition' tattoo", and neither CN or MB heard it, or if they did, didn't make the connection.

... or if they did, 'didn't want to know'. That seems to have been the theme throughout this trial.

IMO MM and AM are still in contact, it's my belief that an agreement was made to "protect" CN and leave out the part where she was the one that alerted everyone about the arrest.

There were nine phone calls from her phone to Hagerman's, the records showed, but she says she didn't make those calls and didn't recall Millard making any calls in the car.
When they got to Hagerman's, she says he grabbed a "fishing box" out of the backseat before hopping out and giving it to Hagerman. She says they "laughed" and talked, but she stayed in the car.


She says she didn't ask any questions because she was "exhausted"—but testified they had sex when they got back to his house that night around 5 a.m.
Millard got up around 6 a.m. the next morning—and they had sex again, she testified with a smirk. He kissed her goodbye, and she went back to sleep.

I guess I misunderstood when I had previously read about 'hostile witness'. I had thought that to be declared as such would mean that the hostile witness was deemed to be that, throughout the remainder of that person's testimony. But it now seems, based on TL's actions, that this request must be made to the judge each time TL has to/wants to get an answer? So I guess we are in for an afternoon of ins and outs with the jury, huh? Wow. Just wow.

Sorry if this was mentioned already: My interpretation is that the repeated applications to question her about specific contradictions in evidence help them work toward getting her declared as an adverse witness which would allow them to ask leading questions in general. Once that happens they don't have to get each line of questioning approved. IANAL.

Does anyone know what CN went to university for? I don't know of many jobs who don't ask if you have a criminal record. If she gets convicted, her schooling was probably all for nothing even after she is released.

My guess is that DM called his lawyer immediately after being arrested, and told him to notify Smich and others like his mom. For all DM knew, the police could have been arresting Smich at any time, so he would have wanted to make sure that Smich kept his mouth shut. JMO.

I think DM called MB and MB called the lawyer and CN to start to covering his tracks.

I had searched the poor man myself on the farmland, in the barn. If I had not found him I had searched all properties my son owned. In any case: I think I had done this.

Still not clear as to who alerted Smich and how? CN seems to text and call him and he already knows about it. CN claims not to know until much later when she gets to MBs. To either MB alerted Smich, which doesn't seem likely, or CN knew and alerted him. The question is why she would lie about it?

Regarding DM calling his lawyer, or his mother, or anyone for that matter. He was questioned for hours wasn't he? I've never heard of anyone arrested getting to make their phone call immediately. I still think he may have been on the phone when he got pulled over. Seems he was always on the phone.

Noudga says she speaks/reads Ukrainian, and some of the text from Millard is in Ukrainian. The Crown has had it translated for the court.

Noudga can read/write Ukrainian. Some parts of Millard's letters are written in Ukrainian. Those parts have been translated, Leitch says.
