Bosma Murder Trial - Weekend Discussion #5

I think you are giving drugs too much power. Sure drugs can lower your inhibitions, but it seems that DM was a quite uninhibited guy...racing, parachuting, multiple relationships with women at one time...

I think what we are seeing is simply DM's character in action.

As for MS, he has been quite inhibited in court, and even if he was a wake-and-bake type (no ashtray in the bedroom though) it would just make him demotivated. Pot is a peaceful drug: it is not like alcohol where goons take their bank card and health card to a bar looking for a fight.

I don't think this crime was committed under the influence of drugs. I think the influence was DM's character.
DM's character actually reminds me of a cunning alpha dog leading the pack. Looks friendly enough but...MOO

Did I suggest that drugs had any power over their behaviour....took over their minds or rendered them zombies to the power of the drugs????
Once more round that bush....I believe that drugs may have influenced their mood and/or inhibitions......but drugs did not make them do anything.

IMHO...The only thing that he regrets is the fact that he got caught and is still sitting behind bars rather than tripping around Lybia in new suit. Remorse for his actions--the word is not in his vocabulary.
Yep- that sums it up nicely. MOO

I think MS hung back and found all of his courage in the super-confident DM. DM as pack leader - yes!

I'm just suggesting that DM was totally uninhibited without the use of drugs.

He has no morals or ethics. He likes a thrill. And that's him, without drugs.

Respectfully, but you keep bringing up drugs, so those of us who doubt them as a major 'driver' of the accuseds' actions are going to keep bringing up counterpoints.

I don't think we really have a clue as to what role drugs played. My opinions are based solely on what we've heard and seen in court, but it is quite possible that any talk of drugs or a drug business has been ruled against. I still feel that there is some kind of illegal business being run out of the MA hangar. Whether it be drugs or stolen cars, there must be a reason we haven't heard anything about it.

It could be that there is no evidence of an illegal business, thus no word on it.

I think we know for sure that there were some stolen vehicles found in the hanger. No mention of that. Was there any mention of the drug paraphernalia found in Smich's room?

Respectfully....I don't think that drugs were a major driver either....But I will concede this---I had not been totally convinced that they were such evil b@st@rds that they didn't need or want a little something to take of the edge. Point made.
We were never really far apart.....

No, maybe they consider it too off-topic. Besides all you get is a small fine for marijuana possession, nothing for paraphernalia.

Respecfully....I don't think that drugs were a major driver either....But I will concede this---I had not been totally convinced that they were such evil b@st@rds that they didn't need or want a little something to take of the edge. Point made.

Someone mentioned last week that a judge was supposed to rule on proceeding with charges regarding WM. Did anything get decided?
