Boulder's JonBenet Ramsey home up for sale, again, for $2.3 million

Houses are selling. Especially in exclusive neighborhoods. My Grandmothers house had to be sold and it sold in 2 wks. It is in a very
desirable neighborhood. (walk to the water)
If this house wasnt so notorious it wouldve sold by now. Lots of people out there can afford 15 room homes even in this economy.

Yes, and I bet a lot of the people who can afford a $2.3 million dollar house are thinking, "Why buy a house where a high profile murder occurred when I can buy just as nice of a house where a murder didn't occur?"

I felt the same way. The way it is decorated now is too modern, that house cries out for antique furniture, etc.
Its too bad, it could be such a beautiful home.
The basement decor is horrendous IMO
It WAS a good idea to wall off the WC but people would still know what happened in there. Cant handle it. TOO sad and too creepy what went on in that house. I dont think it was a wine cellar, think it was a storage room. Why do people call it a wine cellar?

"People" didn't call it a wineceller. The Ramsey's called it a wineceller. It was really just a storage room, and a moldy one at that. There was an interview with JR where he discusses this room and why they referred to it as a wineceller. I think they actually kept wine in there, maybe because the room was dark, or maybe because it could be latched to keep kids out. Not that many kids would be able to open a bottle of wine- unless they were screw-top bottles.

Personally love what they've done with it. I think it's stunning and I am more comfortable with the modern look. It's a really cool house. Would I mind that the murder happened there? I don't think so. It's just a house. There may be some sadness there and I've always hoped that some nice family could put that behind them and enjoy it. The stigma will forever be there unfortunately for the real estate agents :(

I think so. This is why it is a hard to sell house. IF the murder had happened outside maybe wouldnt be so hard, I dont know:(

They have since sold Nicole Simpsons condo but they entirely changed the front of it, they say it is not recognisable and murder didnt happen INSIDE the condo. Its quite hard to change the street view of the Ramsey house and I guess people still drive by gawking. Definately would hate living like that. :(
$2.3 mil would buy just as nice a house I would think altho the Ramsey house does have nice features.

According to TruTV's website, "This house on Rockingham Avenue in Brentwood CA., saw the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Famously accused of the murders was O.J. Simpson, who was acquitted after a long and tumultuous trial. The house was torn down in July, 1998."

I believe that the fact that the murder happened in the house is what keeps people away. If JonBenet had been kidnapped and then murdered outside the house, it wouldn't have as big of a stigma. I've never heard anything about Danielle Van Dam's house (I think I read her parents moved) being hard to sell.

That was OJ simpsons house that was torn down...
Nicoles condo, where murders occurred is still there and has been sold.
but, murder occurred outside, not inside of condo.

Theyve totally changed the front so you dont recognize it. Theres a pic somewhere of it.

I wonder if Sam Shepherd house waa sold? His wife was found murdered in an upstairs bedroom.

These kind of homes just give me the shudders. I think JonBenets house will be hard to sell.

I did some googling and according to a poster on another true crime forum, the Sheppard house was leveled "a few years ago".

I've been to OJ's house recently; there is a new house but the gate and the intercom and the shrubs and driveway are all the same..weird!!!! While we were there we went to Nicole's condo too, it has a different number but its on a really really busy street. I was surprised by that. I pictured it more isolated.(I have a sick sense of curiosity, lol).

We actually pushed the button on the old intercom and asked if OJ was there! hahahahaahaha HE WASNT ! :0

This topic got me thinking about a show, cant remember which one, where investigators went back into the Lizzy Borden house and by goodness used Luminol and found blood traces in the basement around the wash basin and also on the floorboards below the sofa where Mr. Borden was murdered. That is pretty eerie. That technology was not available a hundred years ago, and to think that traces of that crime are still in the house after all this time is unsettleing. I believe that a negative energy could still be attached to a house.

I definitely believe negativity CAN linger in a place, but it doesn't always mean that it has. As far as JB, I truly believe she isn't lingering here for anything. She is not earthbound. And spirits of murdered people, when they are not trapped here by their own refusal to move on, really don't care about their crimes being solved here. They already KNOW who killed them, and as far as that information being known here, they frankly don't care. That is OUR problem to solve, not theirs. When they move on, they are no longer concerned with the events of this world.

Yes, I believe JB is at peace. She is an innocent one. This was more a crime of the ones who were supposed to protect and love her the most. This is a crime of the most extreme coverup I have ever seen. This coverup embodied the most abnormal and disturbing behavior imaginable. That is the negative energy that may still be palpable in the house.

I saw all the photos on zillow and wonder how much sq ft was added since the murder or since they sold it? I imagined it smaller and more vertical, with four floors.

An intruder would need to really have it out for JR to risk holding up inside a mansion with security systems for hours and then perform a brutal child murder and molestation. Seems to me that JR is too benign for this sort of vendetta. If vendetta then why violent sexual assault upon a child? I think the sexual assault rules out vendetta because that requires the conicidence of the suspect having both a high anomosity toward JR and a willingness to violently molest small children. Possible but not likely.

Besides, ransom note author describes animosity toward 'the country that it serves'.

Someone invaded a mansion to sexually assault and murder a child beauty pageant contestant.

Someone with high standards?

I also don't believe that JonBenet is lingering around the house. I have never heard one account of JonBenet's ghost from anyone whose lived in the house or by anyone just driving by to take some pictures. The only exception was that stupid "Haunted Evidence" where JonBenet said, "Hi" LOL. The sad thing is I know people who actually believe that was really JonBenet talking. Also, if JonBenet was a ghost in her house, she would probably be a nice ghost like Casper. :D

in this scenario, maybe he was thinking he kills the future Miss America?it's true that beauty queens are regarded as part of a countries image.(somehow, not in my view, but that's how it works)

..but wouldn't it make much more sense to kill the reigning Miss America,if that was the motive and it was meant to send a message?

I do not believe that someone would murder JonBenet because he thought she would be the future Miss America and so he was trying to send out a message to the country. How did he find out about JonBenet's beauty pageant participation? I can't find one article about JonBenet before her murder, and I highly doubt a town like Boulder was going to publish the winners' names in their newspaper. Also, when JonBenet's murder happened, most of the country had never heard of pageants before so I don't think it's likely that someone found out about JonBenet's beauty pageants, realized that these were basically child versions of Miss America, and figure that the children in them would go on to be Miss America, so he had to kill one of them. Also, if someone killed JonBenet to send out a message, they would have confessed to the case a long time ago because their message would be on every media outlet in the country. IF beauty pageants did play a role in JonBenet's murder, then I believe it would be because some sicko saw JonBenet in a pageant and developed an obsession with her.

Back to the house....I do believe the Tudor facade of the home would suggest beautiful antique furnishings on the inside; however, Patsy had the house so full of frilly ruffles that it was almost impossible to see anything else. I guess the simplicity of the current decor is why I find it more appealing.
I tend to believe that the gawkers and tourists are the primary reason the house is hard to sell. I know that if I paid over two million dollars for a home, I would want my privacy and let's face it, no matter what happens in this case, people will always be fascinated by it.

And then if a big development happens in the case again, the media will be all parked outside the house:

And you just know they'll want an interview with the new owners plus a tour of the inside.

Patsy's taste was typical for the early '90s, though. The pink/rose/hunter green palette was fairly typical of the day, and Patsy did have a more "Southern" taste, with floral patterns and dark woods. It wouldn't have been MY taste either, but most if what I find unappealing with the home when Patsy lived there wasn't her decor per se, it was the general messiness and untidiness of the house. Even Nedra complained to Patsy about it.
