Just wanted to remind those that are interested that Pres. Obama will be on Larry King Live tonight discussing the oil catastrophe. And of course Anderson Cooper will be covering it again, thank goodness!

Fisherman's wife breaks the silence

Arnesen believes it was vapors from the oil and the dispersants from the BP Gulf oil disaster that made her husband and the other shrimpers sick. She says they were downwind of it, and the smell was "so strong they could almost taste it."

For several weeks, she hesitated to talk publicly about it. Like many fishermen who can no longer fish in the Gulf, her husband has signed a contract to work with BP to clean up the oil, and she doesn't want to bite the hand that puts food on her family's table

People don't want to talk. They're scared.

Video at link. How is it possible to be more incensed than I already am? We haven't even begun to see all the ramifications from what greed and negligence has caused to the marine and wildlife affected, the eco-system, the economy, and the very future of humanity in the GULF AREA AND BEYOND for MANY,MANY YEARS TO COME!!:furious:

I am really struggling seeing all of these oil soaked birds and knowing that the same thing is happening under the water that we do not see....the fact that there is no end in sight is just incomprehensible!
Before this tragedy I had never considered myself a conspiracy theorist, I questioned things and knwe there was much more behind the scenes than we would ever be made aware of...but now after watching all this cover up and ego stroking I may just add c.t. to the end of my name!!!

Why are there no 'wash stations' directly on the docks to at least be able to wash the oil out of the birds nostrils so that they may catch a breath??!!!?? They are bringing birds in and then having to transfer them somewhere to clean them...omg this is just too much heartache, frustration and helplessness!!!

I UNDERSTAND THAT JOBS ARE SCARCE RIGHT NOW, BUT IT WOULD BE A COLD DAY IN HELL BEFORE I WORKED FOR BP and then be scared to say anything, OH NO!!!!!!!

There is a song that says "You got to stand for something or you'll fall for anything. you have to be your own man not a puppet on a string, NEVER COMPROMISE WHATS RIGHT and on and on", but my point is This is whats wrong with the world today people dont stand up anymore.
I know these people are scared, I know that they have been through the a lot these last few years, first Katrina and now this, my heart breaks for them but my goodness they are working for those who caused this problem. I have three kids, and a house note my husband was unemployed for 6 months last year and its scary, but if people do not start standing up this will continue to happen. Big businesses will continue to RUIN the "little man" No ONE should EVER BE AFRAID TO TALK and to STAND UP FOR WHATS RIGHT,
SHAME ON BP AND ALL BIG BUSINESSES FOR MAKING ANYONE FEEL THIS WAY!!!

Some people really tick me off:
Last week, Obama administration officials admitted that the Deepwater Horizon blowout is the worst oil disaster in American history, exceeding the Exxon Valdez spill, as they estimated that the gusher had spewed between 15 and 40 million gallons of oil into the Gulf of Mexico. Around the same time, however, Rep. Don Young (R-AK) declared that the oil pumping into the Gulf is “not an environmental disaster”:

Young said: “This is not an environmental disaster, and I will say that again and again because it is a national phenomena. Oil has seeped into this ocean for centuries, will continue to do it. During World War II there was over 10 million barrels of oil spilt from ships, and no natural catastrophe.… We will lose some birds, we will lose some fixed sealife, but overall it will recover.”

Don Young R/Ak
<snipped>
He was listed as the third-worst congressman by the popular magazine Rolling Stone, and dubbed "Mr. Pork" due to his involvement in the Gravina Island "Bridge to Nowhere" incident.[5] In the article, Young is quoted as saying that "Environmentalists are a self-centered bunch of waffle-stomping, Harvard-graduating, intellectual idiots" who "are not Americans, never have been Americans, never will be Americans."[5] During a debate on native Alaskans right to sell sex organs of endangered animals for the purpose of aphrodisiacs, he pulled out an eighteen-inch penis bone of a walrus and brandished it like a sword on the House floor
Federal Investigation-
On July 24, 2007, the Wall Street Journal reported that Young was under federal investigation for possibly taking bribes, illegal gratuities or unreported gifts from VECO Corporation, an Anchorage-based company. The top two executives of that company have already pleaded guilty to bribing members of the Alaska legislature.[24] The Journal said a Veco executive held fundraisers called "the Pig Roast" for Young every August for ten years. Between 1996 and 2006, Young received $157,000 from Veco employees and its political action committee. In the first half of 2007, Young spent more than $250,000 of campaign contributions for legal fees.[

I wonder how much BP paid him for his observation that the Gulf spill is “not an environmental disaster”!:banghead:

These poor little pelicans.

Workers say "the birds who are found quickly can be saved." Thank you to those workers who are trying to save these birds.
There is an 'intensive care unit' just for them. They will be flown to Tampa to be released (per HLN report).

Heartbreaking.

I can't watch the news anymore, seeing these helpless birds and animals is just too much. This will probably end up being the worst
environmental disaster the world has ever seen, and the effects will go on for decades. All of the time wasted trying to stop that gusher when an emergency plan should have been implemented before the well was ever drilled.
BP stock is taking a big tumble and I'm worried that they might go belly up before they pay out all of the fines and compensation to everyone involved. I wish people would quit selling their BP stock and just wait until the lawsuits have been settled even though that might take close to forever.
Sorry for rambling..........

Obama arrives in Gulf for meetings, updates
By NANCY BENAC, Associated Press Writer

Friday, June 4, 2010

President Barack Obama has touched down in Louisiana for updates on the Gulf oil spill and meetings with residents and local officials.

After arriving at the New Orleans airport Obama headed into a briefing at an airport hangar with Coast Guard Adm. Thad Allen, the federal official leading the response to the spill, and other officials.

He then planned to make remarks and drive to Grand Isle, a barrier town affected by the spill, to meet with residents.

Friday marked Obama's third visit since the devastating spill began. Pressures on Obama are mounting as the devastation grows and the president has declared himself furious at the situation. He canceled a planned trip to Indonesia and Australia to deal with the situation.
