Branson Missouri hit by Large Tornado 2/29/12

Thanks for this thread. Tornado warning for my county in KY.....and the local channels are on TV tracking two systems. Wish they would run the major
highways through their maps....like interstates and larger highways.

When I look outside, there is nothing.

Oh and I do hate this....one channel is returning to Days of Our Lives....yuck.

WKYT is doing great coverage of the storms in this area. There are circles on the map showing possible tornadoes.

My "tornado bag" is ready for a run to the basement.

They are talking about one moving rapidly toward Science Hill....northern Pulaski county....north of Somerset.....encouraging all to get to safe area...
so, for the moment, this is north of me.

(My background is hurricanes....lol.)

I am not good with relaying information from these weather reports, but I hear that West Liberty, Ky has a fair amount of damage....not sure that it was a tornado.

Do we have any other KY posters?

Seems "a big chunk" of my county is under tornado warnings through 3:30 pm according to WKYT.

Oops....Pulaski, Laurel and Rockcastle counties under tornado warning....according to the national weather service...

North and east of Lake Cumberland, WKYT says "heads up" as the environment is right for increased weather and circulation. They are also
going to be on WKYT.com now with streaming information. I have not tried it yet.

Damage reports from Morgan county in Malone area.

West Liberty reports damage.

Northeast of Somerset, funnel cloud seen but did not touch the ground.

WKYT reporting that one of the rotations is going to cross I-75 at Rockcastle....Laurel county line

North Laurel county may be affected....

whoa....my town "looks clear" for the rotation although bad weather is still
a possibility.....winds, rain, hail and some flooding.

Think this weatherman deserves a raise....

This weather is heading my way tonight. I am not looking forward to it all, I will be up all night. We are still cleaning after last Friday's storm.

new tornado warning for McCreary and Whitley county with storm heading to Whitley City....also Pine Knot....

Williamsburg....heads up....weather guy says it is heading your way

No funnel cloud yet but fairly strong rotation in this storm.

funnel cloud spotted - area from whitley city to duck run

it will move toward williamsburg

huge amount of lightening

now showing storm damage in morgan county - this is earlier

.....from WKYT weather

whitley county along I-75, esp. Williamsburg, be in a safe place
spotter reports a funnel cloud near Whitley City

I just increased my insurance. I have a really bad feeling about this year. We just had a F-1 hit Rome Ga about 40 miles away. Tornado season usually starts around March through May but for some reason I've been hearing about tornado's hitting almost every month, this year. I still think that the Gulf oil spill did something to the atmosphere.

I am up near Blood Mountain where a tornado took out half the mountain on both sides of 129. It is crazy, and I feel you on the bad juju this year. Will prob spend a lot of time in the basement. I will try tying myself to the 1800lb gun safe.

Southern Ohio here. We are under a tornado watch til 9 tonight, but the weather is warm, there has been a light drizzle but that is over, and nothing is showing on radar. But last night we had a ton of rain. I was staying near the river and I thought that it was going to wash us into the river. But by shortly after daylight it was over.

Did anyone get hurt? Tying yourself to that gun safe may be a good idea unless it topples on top of you, is it big enough to fit inside? What I don't understand is people who live on tornado alley and don't have a basement? If I lived on tornado alley I would build a giant black box. The first year I moved here is the year the tornado hit downtown Atlanta. It hailed here and then did some damage to the Dairy Queen, but that was the worst damage we've had so far. I lived in Fl and went through several hurricanes Andrew was the worst, that is something I have removed off my bucket list.

The weather has been insanely abnormal everywhere. My ILs are in Northern MN and had very little snow all winter until this past weekend. Now they're in a blizzard.

We're in Cali, it's been a dry, warm winter. It was 75 degrees on Friday, today it's snowing and they're calling for 1-2 feet of snow above 4500 ft. It's just been weird.
