He moved there after her death. (He may have subbed for the former classmates from her 2nd grade class, but I had not heard that.)
Thanks Anita, I researched and I was incorrect. Polly was kidnapped in 1993, Karr subed there in 2001.

christine, Polly Klaas was kidnapped and murdered on Oct, 1, 1993. JMK lived in Hamilton, Alabama until the summer of 2000, when he moved to Petaluma with his family.
Thanks Buzz, I was typing as you were, I had already went through google and investigated, the article I read said he was in Patulma (or however ya spell it) early 2001. Anyhow, 2000, 2001...it wasn't during the time of Polly's kidnapping/murder. Thanks again for the info!

Thanks....that makes more sense than what the Fox reporterette was trying to say.
HI Amster, i think it is confusing, because he is being charged with crimes on the warrant, but official charges have not been filed yet. The use of the word charge is being used in different contexts, so it makes it hard to follow.

I did not say it was a defense. I am saying this man is sick in the head. I still say he is not the one.

If Karr is offered a plea bargain and does not take it, I now expect the D.A. to take a first-degree murder charge to trial. I base this on the strength of macro level -- microscope examinations are yet to come --handwritings comparisons of the ransom note versus his yearbook.

Moreover, I believe the D.A. will go to trial even if there is not a DNA match. Should this case proceed to trial, I see the main issue being whether or not JonBenet's murder was premeditated.

Karr waives extradition, on way to Boulder in JonBenet case

LOS ANGELES — John Mark Karr is finally headed to Boulder, Colo., to formally face charges that he murdered JonBenet Ramsey a decade ago.

The 41-year-old former metro Atlanta resident wore an orange prison jumpsuit and stood emotionlessly as he appeared in court here Tuesday morning and waived extradition orders during a three-minute hearing.

With the waiver, the former schoolteacher is expected to be escorted on an approximately four-hour flight to Boulder as soon as Tuesday afternoon.

There, perhaps within the next few days, he'll face five charges related to the murder of 6-year-old beauty pageant princess JonBenet Ramsey, a judge revealed.

California Superior Court Judge Luis Lavin said the charges filed in Boulder including first-degree murder, kidnapping and child sexual assault.

Until now, the Boulder district attorney's office has not revealed the formal charges. Karr's arrest warrant and an affidavit were placed under court seal in Boulder immediately after they were filed last week.

Outside Superior Court in Los Angeles, the woman whose firm represented Karr in a child 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 case in California five years ago said Karr told her he was "very anxious" to go to Boulder, in part to clear up media misconceptions about him.

"Mr. Karr has been portrayed by the media as a flake, as being mentally unstable ... unwell," said lawyer Jamie Harmon, who said she and partner Patience Van Zandt had spent more than 10 hours conferring with Karr since he arrived in Los Angeles from Thailand on Sunday.

"And he is none of those things," Harmon said. "He is anxious to have the opportunity to address the allegations against him and to be portrayed in a more accurate ... way."

Harmon said she had not been retained by Karr, and was simply serving as an adviser.

What is everyone's best guess as to when JMK will be spirited away to CO. For sure, the reporters are sitting on watch, waiting for the move. Will it be a 3:00AM tomorrow morning whisking away for a very long drive to CO, or will it be a late night flight tonight??.

For all we know he may be on his way already.

i think driving him is a dumb idea as it gives way too much room for error. wouldnt want something happening to him right now ya know.

dragonfly, yes its now being reported Karr was in the Boulder area after the murder--If true, that will hurt the prosecution since it solidifies his weird obsession with child murders--like when he moved to Petaluma after the Klaas killing

Karr confessed and clearly said he is not innocent. Given that, if Karr has been placed in Boulder after 12/25/96, a defense attorney, who might hope to explain Karr's presence as but an interest in child-murders, should pray for a plea deal.

A spokesman for Boulder County prosecutors later said the charges were contained in a probable-cause arrest warrant and weren't formal, the Associated Press reported. Once Karr reaches Colorado, it will be up to District Attorney Mary Lacy to decide whether to seek an indictment against Karr on those or other charges.

Boulder County Sheriff Joe Pelle, in a statement posted on the district attorney's Web site, said he would not disclose when and how Karr will be brought to Colorado. The move will happen in the next 10 days, he said.

Wudge, I think the D.A. is going to need some type of fairly conclusive evidence before the public will accept convicting a possibly innocent volunteer for the crime. Don't you think??

I agree, and macro-level handwriting comparison work is compelling. A defense attorney will have a hard time defeating the dramatic similarities that I saw Baggett present today.

They must be tempted to bring hm back asap and see if he is still talking.

He wants to rush back so he can strike a plea deal before all of the evidence is collected against him.

I’m thinking he will keep quite for a while so that he bargain for a plea deal.

If they need more time and are not interested in a deal they will wait a few days.

I think they should have a strong case before flying him back.

That's by far the best evidence they have so far. I don't know if it would be enough to convict on a DP elgible though?? A DNA match would be a guarantee.

Why make a plea deal when he did not do it. Just because he did it in his mine does not mean he killed her.And the DA must feel they have a strong case so bring him back and either Charge him in 72 hours or shut the heck up.

I think this will be his last flight ever.

i've heard several lawyers say that the handwriting, alone, would not be enough to convict him, as well it shouldn't be, imo...

How can you be so sure he didn’t do it? He is innocent until proven guilty. But I think the evidence will incriminate him.

When the judge first said the word murder today at the hearing,Karr flinched badly, closing his eyes lowering his head--Usually,a killer who is guilty doesn't flinch at all when the charges are read--so,he's either a real wimp,or perhaps he's realizing that he's taking this charade too far--we'll soon find out

There is no one saying he was in Colo when she was murdered. There is no one coming forward saying he was at the open House.
He is a lunatic that needs help.
Heck as much as some of us know about the Peterson case I could say if ISP was not convicted I did it. And that I was with Laci meaning in sprit
