This won't end here Colomom, I'm certain.... Our rules over here in the UK are so lax regarding neglect and also very arbitrary; coupled with the fact it happened abroad it's so so frustrating but sad to say, if you read our press, not unusual. I just feel there's more to come, and taking the focus (and the reason for having a 'PR spokesperson') off them might yield yet....
Hugs to you hon

KR1 - I so hope you are right! I know there is some behind-the-scenes work being done, but I'm not sure it will be taken seriously. It is puedo-science so, while it is very interesting, I'm not sure it will help all that much. This work I'm talking about pertains to "reverse speech."

I can't discuss it much, because I really don't know that much about it and because none of the information/results have been made public yet. I do understand that information has been sent to PLE rather recently, but I'm not sure if anything will happen with it. I have NOT seen the results of the analysis myself, but understand it will be posted on a website at some point in the future. If and when I learn about that, I will share with everyone. As I said, it really is interesting, but I don't think the "reliability" has been tested much. Kinda like the lie detector test, I think.

Sky News.

It is being reported that lawyers for the McCanns will be able to examine the portuguese files by the end of the week.

Hey Salem, thanks for that, interesting.... I don't believe this will be just left, given the enormous amount of publicity/focus generated - I guess we'll see over the next few months, but as Colomom said, the whole issue of neglect (admitted) and the fact it hasn't been addressed, is criminal; hoping that it's an avenue which might yet yield answers

So the McCanns' investigators will be able to do more? Hope they're not talking about the Metado "Home by Christmas" group.

Score: Tapas 9: One. Madeleine, Zero.

Let's look at it this way: The investigation has been shelved, no perpetrator or truth of what happened to Madeleine has been discovered. The McCanns have had their official arguido status, but they have not been cleared in that sense.

No one will ever look at them as responsible parents, no matter how many Oprah shows or interviews they give on morning shows.

The Portuguese were at a standstill with no new evidence coming in, and the refusal of the Tapas 9 to participate in a re-construction or re-interviews.

There was evidence of the DNA match, but not enough evidence to charge people specifically and tie them to the evidence.

It seems--if I understand this correctly--that they were made arguido because of the DNA match. Without further evidence, they can't proceed to trial, and the investigation is basically stalled and stonewalled at this point.

Maybe at the very least we should think that other parents on holiday will think twice (at least) before leaving their children sleeping on their own. So maybe there's good in everything if you look hard enough.

Exactly, even though the McCanns never publicly spoke out against it, maybe we can all hope that "babywatching" or "doing our own form of babywatching" will become as obsolete as not using car seats for babies.

Hey Texana - from recent reports on the tourist trade in Portugal - it sounds as if this is happening, thank goodness.

One can only hope charges of neglect will still be brought. That doctors would do such a thing boggles the mind. In my opinion, the McCanns have a duty to speak out against "babywatching listening" practices. I know you have said that over and over, and I totally agree with you on this point. They have a duty and if they are not going to be charged with neglect, then what they say will not be used against them, so they need to do it.

Such disappointing news all the way around!

I think we should strike a deal. They get to have that status lifted (because the investigation is so stalled without their cooperation anyway) only if they shut up forever publicly with their calls for the Amber alert and their "actually quite boring" comments about leaving Madeleine and the twins alone in the first place.

Shut up and go away quietly. Go back to that normal life, get off the talk shows, the publicity, the arranged photo shots. Let Clarence Mitchell go. Go on holiday with sunglasses and hats and no one will publish your photo.

Leave us all alone the way you left Madeleine alone.

So, those despicable McCanns have gotten off scot free.

No justice for Maddy.

this is the headline from sky news

The parents of Madeleine McCann react to being cleared over her disappearance, saying it was "utterly despairing" to be named suspects.

i am wrong, they have not been "cleared" the case has been shelved, this means that any suspects that there are have their name removed from the suspects list...........till the case is back open.

I have not heard the pj say they are cleared.

On Monday, Portugal's attorney-general, Fernando Jose Pinto Monteiro, said the 14-month investigation had uncovered no evidence of a crime by any of the suspects or "arguidos".

he did not say they never done it, he just can not find the evidence to show it.

i am very happy that i can post about this on here, here in the UK most forums have taken down the MM threads.

I am getting pretty tired of all of these unsolved cases of late - and there are a bunch out there.......

Well, not really. The McCanns lives have already become a living hell, and it will only get worse. All the money in the world won't buy their happiness. They'll be heckled, stalked and threatened. They won't be able to step foot out of their compound without accusations and cameras. The worst part of it all is the poor remaining children who will forever live in the shadow of their abused "missing" older sister. The poor babies are doomed to a life of loneliness and mental abuse. I feel horrible for the twins.

Thanks my friend, for checking on me. I have to admit to you all that I am very despondent and I am crying and posting and reading and crying....

I am so sorry for Maddie and for children who just seem to be taken for granted by those that are supposed to love, nurture and protect them. My heart breaks for all the children we read about these days that are neglected and abused and killed. It is a very dark day indeed.

The McCanns should have been charged with neglect, at least. They admitted it!!! I don't understand. It really feels like evil wins.

I will mourn this day for a very long time.

:blowkiss: Thanks for being here you guys....

Colomom: You are the best soul in the world, and you are not alone!

Evil never wins - read my signature. There are clues - big ones - and this isn't over forever. Someday I feel sure the truth will come out, as it usually does.

That's an important point, Lakes, thanks for clarifying and repeating it.

You are most welcome here to post also.

Thoughtfox, you're right. Evil never wins, we just don't always see the end of the story.

I am very pleased for the McCanns that they are no longer considered suspects,I think it is about time :woohoo:.It appears from watching the news reports here that an interpretation problem may have resulted in their becoming suspects and that the blood in the apt was not Madeleines and the car tests were inconclusive.I cant understand how people can be "disappointed","feel hopeless" etc etc,its as if they are upset the McCanns may have had NOTHING to do with Madeleines disappearance after all :waitasec:.If the PLE after all this time have no concrete evidence against them isnt it time to let go of this hatred for the McCanns and accept that yes maybe they arent the most likeable people in the world but that aside they didnt kill Madeleine? I know there are only about 3 here who dont think they did it and I am sure our opinions are even more unwelcome now but there you go - it is what it is.

You have never understood Daffodil!!

I has NOTHING to do with the McCanns, it has everything to do with MADELEINE!! She does not get justice today, there is no resolution, we still don't know what happened to that little girl!!

I could care less about the McCanns and if they are "likable" or not, give me a break! They mean NOTHING to me. They left that little girl and her siblings all alone in the dark and never looked back. In my book they will never deserve my sympathy. I will treat them they same way they treated those babies, with complete disregard.

I have said it before and I will say it again (for the last time), I DO NOT HATE THE MCCANNS!! I do not care squat about the McCanns. In order to hate someone you have to feel something for them. I feel nothing for those people.

I only care about Madeleine, she was ROBBED!!!

Is that clear enough?

I am just home from a long day away & haven't had time to read everything yet.
It is truly a sad day that the McCanns have not been charged with neglect at least, one wonders why?

Colomon I just want to post now mainly to say I am so sorry that you have been crying. You put your heart & soul into this case & if anyone cares about Madeleine you do. Chin up honey, evil will not prevail indefinitely. {{hugs}}

I will comment more when I have a chance to catch up.

I have said it before & I will say it again, many an innocent has been executed for a crime they did not commit & many an evil guilty person remained free & uncharged!
Shelving a case because of lack of evidence does NOT mean innocent!
