My youngest child is 19 years old, but this thread is making me want to have another baby. I LOVED the breastfeeding years that I had with my 2 babies. I agree with others who say that it was a pleasurable experience. Nothing even close to sexual, but the feeling of the milk coming in... watching the baby swallowing, suckling..the eye contact, his little fingers attaching onto my blouse.

I want another bayyyyyybeeeeeeeee!!!

I watched the vid once.. awhile ago. I am sure it is the same vid as this one. I just cannot watch it again. It is too disturbing.

I think her explanation does have merit. The context of her mentioning sexuality is such that it is a societal norm that most people could see something wrong with a mother breastfeeding longer, but a 20 yo girl walking around showing off her breasts is perfectly fine. She was making the point that society is pretty screwed up in their thinking about sexuality to begin with...I happen to agree.

The father was just being a smart@zz. I gather he may have felt a bit "left out" which in fact men do feel this way when we have babies anyway.

Oh no! I had watched this video many years ago and honestly, I couldn't watch the original posted in this thread. I did watch this one for more insight, but it really was disturbing the way the girls talked about it. The mother, too......

Overall I think that my concern would be that this mother is finding nearly all of her identity in this one arena. As I mentioned in my first post, even a good and natural thing can be taken too far. This woman is at the far end of what varying cultures and societies have practiced all throughout time as to weaning. If I were in her shoes I would hope that I could take an honest look at the whole situation instead of just sticking with my views. That is hard to do though.

As for the dads comment at the end that just sounds like a typical guy remark to me. Ive heard that said a lot.

Kids should NOT have an opinion of my breasts, the way these two girls carry on. Their opinion has been impressed upon them by their mother (again IMHO).

I made hubby watch the video and he noticed they are Wiccan (I'm not bashing this religion here, honestly). I can see where this comes from now, sorta, based on what I know of their beliefs. I actually think they missed an opportunity for sympathetic understanding by not talking about that aspect. It's still way too much for me to accept.:crazy:

I thought their mealtime prayer sounded Wiccan, too. I don't know that has anything to do with her breastfeeding, but possibly since they included it on the video.

This seems so wrong to me and I get chills (not the good kind) when I watch the video.
However, that is just my opinon and my opinion has nothing to do with what works for this family. My hope is that these girls grow up to be well adjusted and happy.

I noticed their "gratitudes" at the dinner table but I didnt know that made them Wiccan, does it? Or maybe your husband saw something else?
