Bumping for Brian...it's now been over 26 years.

My interpretation of the father's decision to leave him is to literally throw him out on the street... maybe his drug scandals had already exhausted the family's patience... maybe he stole things from his house to sell and get drugs... in the photo he looks very good, like a healthy man without vices, but... we can't judge a book by its cover...
He needed help, and his family couldn't give it to him...
whatever the case,
Rest in peace, my friend Brian.

I can agree with this interpretation.

According to the articles that @kingkillkannon posted, an investigator claimed that Brian "had survived two serious attempts on his life by different assailants before he disappeared in 1994." Could these attempts be drug-related?

Add to that his "slender" build and that he "had decayed teeth and was missing one front upper tooth," and this suggests possible drug use to me.

Given all this, I can understand the family's difficult decision to distance themselves from their son, especially with repeated violence potentially escalating their way.

Once again, as in so many other cases, bad company and drugs have taken an entire family... I hope that one day it will end and the world can be happy...
