I wonder where the teddy bear is?

The missing teddy bear bothers me too...........

The police have a fairly detailed description of the interior of the pickup truck that one of the rape victims was in, describing the interior dome light, blue/red LED read out on the radio, cloth upholstery, type-written papers and a baby shoe on the floor.

The baby shoe indicates the suspect might have a young child. Just speculation, but maybe the suspect took the teddy bear for the child?

I feel pretty sure they are withholding LOTS of info. I agree with SS that LE might be able to get help from others if they released the estimated time of placement. Sometimes LE gives little tidbits of info out every once in awhile just to keep the public's interest.

Maybe that bear that has caused page after page of posts was found in the grass. Maybe her clothing. Any other ideas?

They must have other information from the evidence collected at the dump site to use as leverage against the perp. The release of the time the body was there seems to thwart LE from getting information from witnesses that could place someone at the scene and lead to a suspect. I still highly disagree this is a good idea to withold such information. Does it matter if her body was there a month or a couple of weeks? What matters is getting a witness to come forward who might have SEEN something during that time!! It would have made so much more sense to withold the COD instead!!

LE hasn't done a lot to move this case forward, imo. Not putting the perp's DNA into the national data base until yesterday (if it is true what Fox reported), having to beg for money to run the DNA they already have, putting out the sketch when it was not confirmed to be remotely part of the other three cases, and now this! WTH?! Are they just not accustomed to dealing with rapists or murderers there?! We know they didn't handle the rape of the other two women properly...or this perp could have been caught before Brianna went missing. Are they just waiting on him to strike again so they can get more evidence?! It is crazy!

This guy is so off the radar, no one would suspect him at all. IMO, everyone around him is going to be shocked to find out it was him. For that reason I don't think it's going to be anyone he knows that will turn him in.

But SS, NOW we know the sketch is for all 3...just not the Oct. assault, right?

SQ, ITA. I always think of the Bundy/Rule connection. Such a shocker for her.

NO! We don't know any such thing! As a matter of fact, they have stopped using it in most stories about Brianna and the other attacks. They never connected that attack to the other three. Location was the ONLY thing that they had. No DNA. Nothing else...including MO.

At this link,
http://news.rgj.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080216/NEWS18/80216013/0/NEWS18&theme=DENISON,
the police say they've gotten tips in about
"past suspicious activity" at the location where Brianna was found. I'm curious as to why these people didn't phone in immediately after they saw said activity.

From the above link: "Evidence suggests Denison was kidnapped...by a man linked to 2 possibly 3 OTHER assaults in the area."

SS, please set us straight here. Which 2 or 3 are they talking about?

Again, just speculation, but LE has put out a plea to Reno residents to report anything suspicious - a change in residence, appearance, job, etc. in the past month, and has stated the suspect is someone's husband, son, brother, and so on.

I realize that in this day and age, a man doesn't have to be married to have a child - he could have a child with a girlfriend, or be divorced and have visitation with his child. I'm speculating that the suspect has a wife or girlfriend, and a young child.

The suspect's family is not suspicious of him in any way, OR is suspicious and afraid. I can imagine a wife or girlfriend thinking, "what if I'm wrong and there's a logical explanation for him suddenly wanting to move, or quit his job, and maybe he shaved because he didn't like the beard he was trying to grow." The wife or girlfriend would reason that if she turned him into the police and it turned out she was wrong, it would be the end of a trusting relationship.

The scary thing is.......someone in Reno is either living with or next door to a serial rapist/killer.

That refers to the November and December attacks. The 3rd (possible) is the attack that happened in October. The Nov. and Dec. attacks were linked to Brianna through DNA.

LE is asking that same question, Suzi. The theory that he may have kept it or given it to someone might not be so far off.
I suggested in the very beginning of the case that the guy may have given it to his child as a gift. They need to show a photo of the missing teddy bear and ask the public to come forward if a bear like this was given as a gift at the end of January.

nan, I remember you suggested that earlier, I think it's a great idea. It would certainly help if they showed photo.Give everybody an idea on what we're looking for.

The bear is gone most likely. I doubt that he gave it to anyone. If he kept it, he lives alone, and it is a trophy closely guarded.

BEmily...I never heard it was in the police parking garage! Wow. This was the Dec. victim? He's way too confident.
After a while they get too confident, then become sloppy. I am hoping this is what will happen soon.:bang:

Regarding people offering tips about suspicious activity after Brianna's body was discovered, it is common for that to happen. Some tips will likely amount to nothing. Some tips may help the case. I live where people hunt and shoot guns all the time. So when I hear gunshots I think nothing of it and would not report it. But, say I was awake early at 5AM and heard 4 gunshots from a particular direction. Typical, so I don't report it. But, what if then on the news that morning I see that a person was shot 3-4 times next door to me. Then I would report it.

Some tips might be from people seeing something that at that time did not necessarily appear to be suspicious. Then after Brianna's body was discovered they realised that what they saw/heard may be important.
