I have come to agree with posters like Dad that LE is doing all that they can. I think they are working with what they have to go on.

I am starting to think more and more that this guy either left the area or they are off in their profile of him and he never lived in the UNR area. If that's the case, it's going to take another attack or this guy getting a driving ticket or something for the respective PDs to make a match. I'd watch the news for assaults/kidnappings in other areas of the country from here on out.

Thanks Leila. I guess the victim could have seen that when he drove her back to her house, not necessarily during the attack. But if the car was running during the attack, I would think it could be helpful if people had seen a car parked with its lights on in the middle of the night. I know a lot of people aren't up that late, but it was a Saturday night, and maybe someone passed by whereever they were parked and noticed that it looked a little suspicious, but never did anything.
That would also make me wonder if the truck had tinted windows so no one could see inside except through the windshield?

I understand the frustration as there has been no "apparent" movement since her body was found. I believe the info about the underwear is the only thing they have shared since then?? While important this info isn't going to be helpful to 99.9% of people who may come in contact with the killer. This case will quickly fade into the background with most people, sadly enough. However, it is hard to criticize LE not knowing what they have to work with. From what we know, it is unlikely they will find him without help from the public. DNA does little good in identifying him. We can only hope that they have some solid information and are closing in on someone...we have no way of knowing what kind of job they are doing. There are two things I feel safe in assuming...one is that they are doing the best they can and working hard at it...I doubt anyone is taking 2 hour lunch breaks. The other thing is that the longer they go without an arrest the less the chances are that there will be one. Chances are very good that if anyone was going to come forward they have already done so. Without another attempt /attack there isn't going to be much, if any, new evidence coming in.
I think LE is doing everything they can but they don't have anyone to match up the DNA with. I believe it's possible he didn't know he'd left DNA behind so next time he'll be much more careful ~ and sadly there most likely will be another victim before he's caught. It's also possible he's no longer in the Reno area or Nevada.

Anyone know if something as simple as researching night shift workers has been done in that area?

There has to be some kind of data base listing for all companies who run a night shift?

I guess my question would be how would we know if this is being done? Since LE does not give up that kind of info.

This is a gambling town with a lot of Casino's, resturants, etc. that stay open all night. We also have hugh distrubution centers, such as Amazon, jcpenny(west coast distribution center), Barnes & Noble & Wal-Mart (largest in the world) as well as the US Postal service (also a west coast distrubution center), Fed-Ex & UPS distribution centers, call centers, etc, all with night shifts. We are on the I-80 corridor that runs from East Coast right through Reno through Calif. to the West coast. A lot of 18 wheelers pass through, as well as Am-trac. This is one reason the large distribution centers are here.

That would be a hugh undertaking to sift through for any LE agency. My question is "how is this simple?"

I have read on here everything from Military, Postal Workers, Airline employees, Construction Workers, Casino Workers, Truckers, College Students, etc.

I understand the frustration, I have two teen girls, it is scary knowing a killer is out there. I live here, my girls are out at night driving around, etc going out with friends. What do I do, keep them home, not let them go out at all? How do I teach my children not to live life in fear, and yet I have fear? Sometimes life is just not as simple as it sounds.

My guess is LE is working as hard and fast as they can. Just because we do not get updates on a regular basis, does not mean they are doing nothing or running out of ideas or leads. 2500 leads would take a lot of time to get through in my opinion.

This is a bit off-topic. On June 12, 2006, a sniper fired at the Washoe County Courthouse in downtown Reno, and the bullet hit Judge Weller as he sat in his chambers on the third floor of the courthouse. The critically injured judge was rushed to a nearby hospital where he underwent emergency surgery. Within minutes of the shooting the Reno police had the area surrounding the courthouse on lockdown as they thought the sniper was still in the area.

About three hours later, acting on a tip from a citizen, police found the body of a woman in the condo garage of her soon-to-be ex-husband, Darren Mack. She had been stabbed to death, and nearly decapitated. Police on the scene obtained an emergency search warrant for the condo. The search resulted in finding literature pertaining to Darren Mack's hatred of Judge Weller, who was presiding over the divorce. Also found in the search was a receipt for the rental of a 2006 silver Ford Explorer. Boxes of ammunition found in the condo matched the bullet fragments removed from Judge Weller's chest.

Darren Mack had murdered his soon-to-be ex-wife, and had attempted to murder Judge Weller who was presiding over their divorce. He fled Reno in a rented vehicle.

Within a few days of the events of June 12, 2006, the Reno police published a series of PDF files online - the affidavit of the detective in charge of the crime scene; the affidavit of the concerned citizen who had given the police the tip about the murder of Darren Mack's wife, Charla; and a detailed list of the items found during the search warrant.

Those of us who followed the case online were incredulous of the detailed reports of the Reno Police that were provided to the public.

Darren Mack was captured in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico 12 days later, and extradited back to the U.S. (Texas) and then to Reno. Darren Mack went to trial the last week of October 2007 and the first week of November. The trial was streamed live online. Those of us that had followed the case were blown away by the expert analysis of the evidence that the Reno detectives testified to during the trial.

After the prosecution had presented their case in chief, Darren Mack entered a plea agreement. He was sentenced on February 8, 2008 and is now at the maximum security prison at Ely, Nevada. But, the case goes on.......he's hired another attorney and is trying to withdraw his plea agreement and is asking for a new trial. The first of the civil trials has begun, and late yesterday a Reno jury awarded Charla Mack's estate and the Mack's 9-year-old daughter $590 million dollars, the largest civil award in Nevada's history.

Having watched the Reno Police during the Mack case and seeing how thorough and detailed they are, I'm sure they're applying the same expertise to the Brianna Denison case. But, in this case they have far fewer clues to work with, and are investigating all the tips they've received. No matter how good the police are at what they do, they can't produce results without at least one good solid lead. The DNA isn't going to find the killer unless his DNA is on record, and so far there's been no matches. The DNA will only confirm the killer once he's found. The police can't be faulted when the killer has left no real clues to his identity.

Rolex,
I knew Reno was sometimes referenced as a gambling town. Thanks so much for the great explanation.

Probably not related to this story but similiar - happened this past Tuesday.
Attempted kidapping of a young woman near Boise State University in Idaho.

Believe they have not yet captured the driver of the truck, he escaped on foot. I believe they do have the truck he was driving.

Rusty, welcome to WebSleuths!!! Your post is an example of why this site is so great. People need to be vigilant for when this 🤬🤬🤬 is going to strike again. In this case, it appears that perhaps it was a hoax.....grrrrrr.... :furious: I just HATE it when people make up stuff like this!!! Anyway, I am glad you are with us, and you are out there looking for the next victim. LE can't be all places at all times - but combined with US - the come a lot closer than they would alone.
