TMZ has learned the LAPD has concluded its preliminary investigation into the death of Brittany Murphy and sources tell us detectives have determined there is no evidence of foul play or other criminality.

The PD is now waiting for the autopsy results from the L.A. County Coroner. If the Coroner's findings raise red flags, we're told the LAPD will pursue the matter further.

Attorney General of CA Jerry Brown seems to really be going after prescription abuse cases...IF this is THAT...wonder if another Dr. might be reeled in...and in whose name were the prescriptions?...again...IF that's the case. It gives me comfort knowing he's AG...he seems to understand addiction...and enablers.

She was a great actress and always down to earth type of girl. I found this video on you tube of one of her last interveiws. At the end she is talking with the interveiwer about after life.

Is this common? Do they normally tear up charges?

It looks like the British writer-director husband of Brittany Murphy, whose alleged credit card fraud may have been holding up his bid for US citizenship, could be home free in the home of the brave, after a Virginia court destroyed Simon Monjack's criminal charges.

TMZ has obtained an order from a Circuit Court in James City County, Virginia, that directs the state to destroy the arrest warrants for Monjack, who was wanted for credit card fraud back in 2005. "It is hereby ordered," reads the document, "each of the felony and misdemeanor warrants ... summonses ... be destroyed by the Commonwealth's attorney." Tear it up!

She looked so thin. I think she changed so much from when she was a teenager, she almost looks like a different person.

LOL! Found this comment on TMZ...guess the first commenter spoke/wrote too well for this TMZ poster...lol...;) SEE...we AREN'T like TMZ...;)

39. The 'preliminary' investigation concluded natural causes. The autopsy is just underway so they do not conclusively know whether drugs were involved yet or not. Tox findings will take about 6 weeks but on autopsy they can check urine, blood, stomach levels of any drugs that may have been present upon death. Still too soon to know about drugs.

I'm betting on the possibility of Diabetic Ketoacidosis leading to hypokalemia(low postassium) causing cardiac arrest brought on by pre-existing vomitting due to flu and complicated by underlying anorexia nervosa.

creepy...to me...but the writer felt they were in "love"...

In the interview I conducted for the Post, Monjack revealed a rather interesting fact about the couple's history. He claimed to have taken the first editorial photo of a then-underage Murphy, and immediately fell in love with her.

"No one knows this, but I took Brittany's first photograph for a magazine. It was Jane magazine; Brittany was this big," he told me, waving his hand at hip level.

Back then, she was "too young to touch," Monjack said. "To make a long story short, I was very patient."

Indeed.

TMZ is reporting the autopsy of Brittany's body is underway.

What I want to know is a lot of places are saying she died of natural causes and yet the autopsy hadn't been started yet. :waitasec:

Now, why would he say that? By saying this he seems to be saying...he controls nothing...it's all her...sounds like what Howard K Stern and the others said about Anna...it was all her. Yet, he says he says "yes" or "no"...? If she was the "boss" wouldn't he simply say "yes"?

Murphy and Monjack

Brittany Murphy's new husband, British writer-director Simon Monjack, says he has uncovered the secret to a happy marriage: Listen to his wife.

"I've learned one thing in life: A man can only say two things – yes or no. Everything else is up to a woman," Monjack told PEOPLE Saturday at the City of Hope gala honoring Rock & Republic's founder and CEO Michael Ball in Beverly Hills.

"It's the only way for a happy marriage. That's why I leave everything up to the boss," he said, indicating his bride. "I simply limit it to yes or no."

While foul play has been initially dismissed as a factor in the death of Brittany Murphy and officials believe she died of natural causes, RadarOnline.com has confirmed that the Los Angeles Police Department is keeping their investigation open and now focusing on a possible overdose.

“We are keeping the investigation open until the toxicology reports are available in five to six weeks,” a senior LAPD source privy to the investigation told RadarOnline.com exclusively. “We are focusing on possible overdose scenarios including looking at prescription medicines.”

Well I can easily believe he was "in love." But I can't help but wonder as what exactly would attract her to him? He looks to be overweight (even more so now then when they got married), he is older than her (by how much?), and I don't think anyone is going to argue he was very successful career-wise/financially.

Oh my...
A friend who had known Murphy since her “Clueless” days shared a luncheon chat she had with the actress less than a week ago. “It was so sad,” said the source. “Brittany was so obviously deeply troubled and couldn’t stop talking about her concerns her career was rapidly going down the tubes.

"Even though she has several films in the can [tentatively slated for release in 2010], she told me ‘They are all nothing special ... nothing that will make people stop and pay attention to me again,’ ” said the Murphy pal.

The source also echoed comments from other Tinseltown honchos I’ve contacted, mainly that a big part of Murphy’s woes could be linked to her husband, Simon Monjack, and “his negative impact on both Brittany’s life and her career."
“And then there is his drinking problem. ... I’ve rarely seen him that he wasn’t drinking,” added the source.

Separately, several key Hollywood players — a top agent and a studio executive — shared virtually identical stories about Monjack, a British screenwriter.

According to both sources, Monjack had developed a reputation for using Murphy’s name as a “hook” to develop several film projects — none that went anywhere, once it was discovered Monjack’s boast of being backed by “huge financial resources in Europe” turned out to be untrue.

“I’ve known a lot of con artists in Hollywood, but this guy was right up there as being either a complete phony or totally delusional,” said the studio executive.

According to my original source, even Murphy was beginning to realize her husband was a major stumbling block. “Brittany was, finally waking up and seeing Simon — who she had adored — was a big problem.”

I just find it hard to believe a grown Man would fall in true "love" at a photo shoot with a 17 yr old...lust? yes...love? no...I guess that might depend on one's definition of 'love' ...IMO

ps...his myspace says he's 38 or 39...but that is in doubt, from my understanding...

Actress Brittany Murphy, who died at 32 on Sunday, had been fired from her last film just two weeks ago, and had lost consciousness during shooting on the set of another film that she’d recently completed.

An insider on the production of another horror-thriller,“Something Wicked,” an independent film shot in Oregon, said that Murphy was barely able to shoot her scenes and would lose her focus in mid-sentence during a take.
“Her husband was her handler, he shuttled her around. She was barely there,” said an individual with knowledge of the production, referring to Murphy’s husband and manager, Simon Monjack.

“She’d go in and out of consciousness in the middle of takes.”

The individual said Murphy’s inability to stay fully conscious caused producers to rewrite her character, a therapist to the two main characters, and her scenes. He said colleagues on the set had presumed she used prescription drugs.

I don't know why that is hard to believe. It's not uncommon for older men to be attracted to younger women, especially in show business.
