Do we know if she had had any recent surgery? I am not following this story so my apologies, just wondering if she had.

This is such a tragedy. Was the she bread and butter for this family? He was in the business but did he make a real living?

No he did not...IMO he was a leech.

Just a thought on the prescriptions. If anyone looked through my house, they'd think DH and I were horrible addicts. But if you look at the dates on the prescriptions, you'd notice most of them are long expired. They say not to throw meds out in the trash or flush them. Some pharmacies take them, but we keep forgetting to take them to the pharmacy to get rid of them. Heck, about a year ago my mom gathered up her bottles and took them to the pharmacy to dispose of. There were still some prescriptions of her mother's, who had passed in '02, but had stayed with my mom for a while before her passing. So, there can be vaild reasons that there are a number of medications and in different names. Also, sometimes if one med isn't working, the dr will change meds, but you still have some of the first left over. Doesn't mean you're still taking it. When I was on anti-depressants, the first one made me sick, so after only a week or two, my meds were switched. My insurance company gives a 3 month supply for recurring prescriptions, so I had a ton left over. Didn't mean I was taking those and my new one.

I am not diabetic, but I do have some sugar issues. The medication I'm on can cause death if I become dehydrated. I was told that if I had the flu (essentially losing fluids through typical flu like things), to stop taking the medication. If I was going to be drinking, either don't take the medication that day or excessively hydrate. If she was on a similar medication and was ill, that could have caused dehydration and death. Also, if no one warned her about medication interactions, it could have caused a problem. I had a doctor once prescribe me something that could have possibly killed me by interacting with a med I was already on. I had told the dr my current meds, but it was the pharmacist that caught the possible interaction.

I don't know what happened, but I'm trying to look at every possible scenario with the few facts we have.

I don't know how that would go with "normal autopsy."
If any of her organs severely bled, they presumably would know what killed her and wouldn't have to wait for tox screen to come back.

I think that if her organs were bleeding but there was no trauma, then they may not know what caused it. ie - if you are stabbed and your organs bleed, the cause is fairly clear. However, if you have internal bleeding because of something you ingested, that might not be as clear.

Respectfully snipped...

I agree with you there but from what I read at TMZ, it said the prescriptions were found on her nightstand. That to me indicates that they were all currently being used. If I'm not using a medicine on a daily basis, it wouldn't be sitting out on my nightstand. Again, she could be different, but I would think unused or little-used prescriptions would be in a medicine cabinet or drawer or something. JMO.

We saw this with Anna Nicole, all of the prescriptions she was using were all out on the nightstand in the hotel room where she died.

Everything, with rare exception, I have read about this man paints him as a user, a con artist and a leach. I cannot see that he made an honest living.

I definitely agree with you that not every house full of scripts (even ones in different names) indicates someone has a drug problem.

For me, however, that reality in Brittany's house - in addition to persistent rumors of drug use, erratic behavior, withdrawal from friends, weight loss - makes me think there were some drug issues.

I agree. With the fact that all of the meds were on her nightstand, and the previous rumors, it's most likely she had a problem. What is curious to me, is that in contrast to many of the other cases we've seen with celebrities, her prescriptions make it appear that Vicodin may have been the only "abused" drug. The other drugs don't really give a high and seem to be for valid medical reasons. I've known many people with addictions to Vicodin who are doing just fine. Maybe it was taking excessive Vicodin in correlation with the valid meds that caused a reaction.

ETA: Ativan could also be abused. But what I really wanted to add was I used the interactions check at www.drugs.com, and there were a total of 17 interaction warnings. 1 major, and 16 moderate. Here is the link. http://www.drugs.com/interactions-check.php

Interesting things for me are that she was a typeII diabetic and that she was suffering from flu like symptoms, but none of those meds were for flu were they?

Actually the statute posted addresses pre-marriage assets and includes up to but not exceeding 50% of those also. That would include royalties on 50% of the pre-existing and at least 50% of those accrued during the marriage. Being a 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 is not illegal in and off itself. Unless he is charged in her death or there are documents that specifically exclude him from the will he will get a large portion of the estate (whatever is left after the attorney fees leave behind).

The pre-marriage assets would be protected in a divorce. Not in probate.

:( :( :( :(
50% of her Pre Mariage earnings would go to him to? only married 2.5 years? :waitasec:

No - not really flu stuff - now, I have also heard laryngitis reported - perhaps one of the pain scripts were associated with a sore throat. Also, there are reports that she had bad period cramps. (Frankly, at her weight, I've surprised she still had a period). Docs will definitely give pain meds for painful menstruation.

Opiates like vicodin usually cause overdose because:

a) they are mixed with alcohol and/or anti-anxiety meds
b) they lead to APAP poisoning and liver shut down

ETO - Ativan is definitely a drug with high abuse potential.

Drug interactions. That's the thing...prescriptions in 3 peoples names. Was she taking prescriptions made out for someone else? Her Moms? Her Husbands? Will they find drugs made out to him or her Mom in her body? Maybe that's why he didn't want an autopsy...

Yes, I saw it...I did post it but someone else may have, as well...amazing, what he said, he did predict it. It seems to have been common knowledge...like the SNL skit...they did a parody about her...I totally missed it all...but looking at all the pieces together...the shots fired incident, the husband incoherant on the set, reported fighting with locals in Puerto Rico, the husband being taken to hospital, getting fired, the reports of her forgetting lines and seeming confused...it's all linked on this thread and pieced together it paints a sad picture. Too bad someone couldn't have done something to help her. Friends and Family seem to have been cut out when Hubby showed up. But it seems Mother was around...wonder what she thought of him...I'm not saying Brittany was on pills or abusing them but if she was, and I'm leaning there, I wonder how much her Mother knew about her daughters possible prescription use...I'd know if my daughter was on pills...I know my daughter...

And one thing...Brittanys Dad was in the mafia, you can google and see, I don't want to post the link, it seems disrespectful...not to trash him, he did his time, it was long ago. But I mention it in relation to Brittanys choices in men and what she might find acceptable. I understand her mom left him when she was young, around 4. But he's still her Dad. We see how Tiger saw his Dad cheat. And maybe Brittany saw her Mom make not so good choices in Men...just a thought. Boy, parenting is a minefield...
GREAT POST AND SO TRUE

I have known several professionals who became addicted to pain meds...specifically vicodin through an injury with surgery. One side effect for my friend (a bank president) was massive weight loss. 40 lbs in 3-4 months. She described the high like cocaine to her..she could stay up and clean and then do paperwork all night, get up and work all day...cycle repeats. Prob was it took more and more to get her high...then she mixed with alcohol late at night to come down. If I had not seen it first hand, would never have believed it. vicodin makes woozy, nauseous and sleepy. Wouldn't get me hooked...now what they describe from Mommy's little helper adderol..THAT I would have to stay away from.

Oh..and Paladine..I am thinking that if hubby enabled her or played a part in her death..Daddy dear will make sure he never has another pleasant day.

And another interesting thing is the coroners office keeps saying 'flu' yet the Hubby says "laryngitis"...no mention of flu in his interview...wonder if someone at the scene said 'flu' to explain the vomit but now they are backpeddling...flu virus can be tested for and found in an autopsy...especially swine flu...that's my other obssession ;) Swine flu...lol...;) But that's slowed right down, now...

Monjack, 39, confirmed Murphy had been sick in recent days but said the family didn't think it was serious.

"She had laryngitis" and had recently seen a doctor, said Monjack, a British writer. "She had been tired at the end of the year. She had made a couple movies."

I was also thinking that Daddy will definitely not sit idle.
