GUILTY Brock Turner, college swimmer, CONVICTED of rape - sentenced to only 6 months in jail

We’re horrified’: At Stanford, the impact of a sexual assault is searing
The Washington Post

“PALO ALTO, Calif. — It could have been mistaken for any other late afternoon in the expectant days before graduation. Seniors shuttled four years of possessions from the Kappa Alpha fraternity into waiting U-Hauls that would carry them away from Stanford for the last time.

But the students weren’t talking just about commencement, or summer, or jobs ahead. Their conversations this week, like so many on this elite campus these days, kept turning to sexual assault.”

Her son was damaged already or he would never have committed such a horrific crime "damaging" an innocent person. Mom's in serious denial.

More like mom is a selfish b****.

"Why Him" indeed. I didn't think it was possible to become even more angry about this story. Her letter, and the news about the pictures were the topper. IMO

I was right about them being upper middle class:

They came from working-class backgrounds, she said: she worked as a nurse at a trauma center specializing in gynecology and her husband is an electrical engineer in the Air Force.

They seem to think they are a lot wealthier than they really are. Their kids even have $30k and $60k in student loans!

So I don't think Daddy is going to be able to get rapist son a job at the Air Force. He's just a number, and Brock isn't getting a clearance. They are also not rich enough to just give a college $$ to take their son.

Wait, mom is a nurse at a trauma center specializing in gynecology? Does that mean they see rape victims?

Brock's mother, Carleen Turner:

"I beg of you, please don’t send him to jail/prison. Look at him. He won’t survive it. He will be damaged forever and I fear he would be a major target. Stanford boy, college kid, college athlete -- all the publicity,” Carleen Turner wrote in her statement, which was among the court documents made public today. “This would be a death sentence for him.”

Why don't these women realize what they are admitting about themselves and their own compromises?

What publicity was there before the sentencing?

After the daily mail article I am confused by the timeline. So in addition to the two witnesses in bikes, there was a third guy who saw BT with the phone standing over the victim? I thought after two witnesses on bikes saw what was happening, BT run away. So when did this third guy saw him standing over the victim with the phone?

Yes, I am confused too! The info about the third guy (Blake Bolton) came out of left field.

I tried to add it up and it doesn't add up. The two bikers said BT run away and the guy who claims he saw BT standing over the victim with the phone claims BT left (according to daily mail). So no way to reconcile these two stories. But daily mail isn't considered a reliable source.

^^Precisely. There are other articles that mention the Blake Bolton encounter, but they reference Daily Mail as the source.

Just when you think it can't get any worse!

I'll try to find the link... I read that there were actually four witnesses who were involved in stopping the assault...

ETA- Found it!

It's in the incident report, four witnesses are named.

https://assets.documentcloud.org/documents/1532973/complaint-brock-turner.pdf

Starting with page 11... witness statements are in the pages following. The other two witnesses came up after the Swedes tackled Turner... no mention of Barnett seeing Turner take a picture.

Pages 27 & 28, another witness, Bolton, gave a statement about Turner standing over her possibly taking a picture.

ETA again... IMO Bolton probably did see Turner take the picture, then made up the part about approaching him so he wouldn't look bad for not doing anything.

This is a good timeline and detail of events. I didn't know he had gone after her sister first.

I have seen people who express sympathy and remorse some a criminal or some bad person and they end up on the receiving end of being shamed and pilloried.

This case gets more disturbing.

Brock Turner has more people unified against him than Michelle Gregg. I mean more so. I have never seen someone this since Ethan Couch, Casey Anthony, Lori Drew, Jerry Sandusky, or Osama bin Laden. That is really telling.

Brock Turner may as well join ISIS.

'I made a mistake': Two women apologize for letters supporting Stanford rapist Brock Turner
http://www.latimes.com/local/lanow/la-me-ln-stanford-rape-apologies-20160609-snap-story.html

Two women who penned letters defending former Stanford University swimmer Brock Turner in court have rescinded their support, saying they didn’t realize the severity of his actions.

Kelly Owens, a high school guidance counselor in Ohio, and Leslie Rasmussen, a friend of Turner’s, issued apologies Wednesday for making statements that they said have caused outrage.

Rasmussen, a member of the band Good English, said she was one of at least 39 people who submitted character statements to Santa Clara County Superior Court Judge Aaron Persky in support of Turner, who was convicted in March of sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster on campus.

No sympathy for them either.

I have been looking into Judge Persky's so-called resume. It seems very 'thin' to me. I may have more comments on it at a later date but, in the meantime, I found this interesting:

@ywcasv respectfully requesting Judge Persky note in his bio his dates of tenure on Support Network Board. He's not a Board Member @ywcasv

Note: The Support Network for Battered Women joined forces and merged with YWCA of Silicon Valley in 2010.

After reading the police report, I am thinking this BB guy didn't actually see the suspect standing over the victim with the phone. Instead he might have seen witness calling the police. The two guys on bikes didn't call 911 because they both run after the suspect and held him. Two more guys observed that.
Then there were 2 more guys, one of whom called police after seeing victim on the ground (victim was alone on the ground at that point).
So I presume the following timeline:
Two guys on bikes see suspect and the victim, run after the suspect and hold him down (they didn't have time to call police).
Two more guys observed two guys holding the suspect down but didn't call police.
Another guy sees the victim alone on the ground and calls police. This could be what the BB observed.
