Nobody is going to like this answer, but we should stop glamorizing and airbrushing motherhood into a fairytale. Having children is NOT easy, it is not all birthday parties and scrapbooking. It is hard, very hard. It entails massive sacrifices that the weak willed, selfish, damaged are simply not able to manage. These women who let their children be abused should never have had them in the fist place, they are not emotionally capable of parenting.
Hi, guys-I have stayed out of this branch of the discussion as long as I was able simply because I was trying to catch up on the case itself.
I think that there is a very broad brush being used to paint here, and it is causing some discomfort in me. Making the leap between viewing

, any

that reflects a disproportionate balance of power, and enacting that activity yourself is too much of a jump for me. There are an awful lot of passive people sitting "out there in the dark" (to quote my favorite movie) who are perhaps content with the viewing-they are still tethered to reality by knowing that society has limits and rape/torture/humiliation are not socially acceptable means of getting gratification.
And yes, there are those who are wired to need more than an image. At some point they cut the tether and jump in.
Gagnon liked kiddie

and had access to a child for 6 years ie Brooke-what are the chances he acted out a fantasy or two on her? Don't know, but something to think about or investigate for sure.
MJ was sexualized at an early age, apparently, by his father using his baby sister-he is clearly stuck there and for me the only question is how many more relatives and co workers are out there that he might have fixated on in between his sister's victimization and his assault on the 18 year old woman?
Then there is Denise, who I believe was one of those women who was going to turn a blind eye no matter what she was hit over the head with...clearly her need for MJ was greater than any instinct she might have felt for her child...IMO.
Look at all of the devastation in the path of this man, MJ-Brooke, AR, Juvenile 2, his sister, his other known rape victim...it boggles my mind but he had the perfect environment and people around him to ensure that he could continue this behavior without challenge...no wonder he took the next step himself into murder. Again IMO.
