P.S. to grammieof5: Did you see my response to your post a few pages back?

I was assuring you that nothing you had said was remotely offensive to me; I want to make sure you know that.

Gender dysphorics don't claim their penis isn't theirs. They claim it is incompatible with their innate psychological conception of themselves. Big difference, if you ask me.

There are differences and similarities. I didn't mean to imply they were exactly the same.

From the link: http://www.scirp.org/journal/PaperInformation.aspx?PaperID=43284

"The connection with transsexuality is especially intriguing due to the percentage (19%) of BIID patients who also exhibit a gender identity problem. The BIID and the GD can be both explained by a mechanism hard-wiring where the body image is represented innately in the brain."

" It has been suggested the image of the sex organs of transsexuals are "hard-wired" in the brain in a manner which is opposite to that of their biological sex. This idea is based on the fact that in transsexual population a different pattern of phantom syndromes occurs after castration or breast extirpation."

Interesting that it's not all psychological and there is some neurological aspect to it. JMO

Well, THIS poster calls Ms. Jenner "Caitlyn", but I don't support surgical alteration for the "transabled". I'm not saing it should be illegal, no more than pierced ears.

But removing a perfectly good limb because of a delusion that it doesn't "belong" to you is NOT the same thing as feeling trapped in the wrong sex and/or gender.

it's exactly the same thing. I think youre just too hung up on the gender aspect of one. its about identity, remember.
you'd deny someone surgery to correct their physical body (to make it fit their true identity) and call them delusional. got it.

Yes, but those who are LGBTQ or friends with someone who is, or who study gender or sexuality or fight for equality issues, do spend a lot of time thinking about those issues.

Of course. I am not LGBTorQ, but I do have a number of friends included in those 'categories'. But I don't think about their sex lives or what surgeries they may have had. I just accept them as friends, relatives and acquaintances without analyzing what's under their clothes or behind their closed doors. I don't think about the sex lives or genitals of straight people, either. And I have been a supportive activist in gender and equality issues since I was a teenager in the South during the Eisenhower era!

yeah but for how long? sure its...titillating in the bruce jenner case, but he's soon to be overexposed, if not already. we'll need a couple more celebrities or people in the news to do it to sustain the movement or hype or hysteria or whatever. maybe matt damon. somebody like him. not another bradley manning .

the next new thing is the transabled movement, which everyone who calls bruce caitlin supports without reservation, which i find remarkable.

I am not following and English is my first language.

What?

YES! I did, I can't believe I forgot to say something about that! I was very happy to know that and then I forgot to say something :/ Thank you for posting it again :-) I see you have 3 G-kids. Isn't it fun being the G-parent. I have so much fun with my G-kids.

Okay, I am a weirdo, but I have many gay friends and I obnoxiously am curious about how the sex thing works. Luckily I have a few friends with whom I am close enough to ask some questions.

I just love sex (sorry) and am super nosy about how other folks "do it".

There. I admit it.

sbm --

This is the point where everything went...how should I put it -- wrong? It is a thesis mainly suggested by political blogs. It is an intentional over-generalization. I don't want to see this thread shut down, but I can't imagine that it could be healthy if it continues in this direction.

not a thesis, google transabled or biid.

consistency isnt over-generalization

nor is it political ... unless bruce jenner's situation is being used/promoted by some for their political agenda?

There are similarities between BIID and GID. To suggest this is political IMO is unfair. Although I will say I have never liked the term "transabled".

I'm not "hung up" on anything. Gender and sex are inherently aspects of the transgendered. That's probably why they put it right there in the label.

If you read my post more carefully, you'll find I specifically said I wouldn't make voluntary amputation illegal. It's ultimately none of my business, but even assuming there is a problem in the "wiring", how will a prosthesis be more "owned" than a biological leg? Unless the patient decides to simply remain limbless (his or her choice), s/he still has to get used to a foreign appendage.

I thought you used it first. I'll use whatever term I am told such people prefer.

Being a G-parent is the best. Play all day and when they get cranky from being overtired (our three are really well-behaved as a rule), you hand them back to their parents. The best!

I probably broached the subject first but didn't use "transabled". You should use whatever word you like I'm not sure what word such people prefer.

ETA: I'm just learning along the way.

Myself, I am not in the position to say that all people who support those who are transgendered feel the same way about those who are transabled. For what it's worth, I haven't seen anyone other than whatever poster here made the comparison, but then i did a bit of online research and saw that it was a talking point for a political group. Good stuff, I won't waste any more time or energy.

The problem with voluntary amputation IMO is that the person is now truly disabled and eligible for government goodies. While I don't really care if someone wants to cut off a limb, I do have a problem with government disability payments to them afterwards.

Caitlyn Jenner Wears Knee-High Boots for Public Outing (PHOTO)
BY LINDSAY KIMBLE @lekimble 06/12/2015 AT 03:00 AM EDT

Jenner, 65, recently returned from a road trip with fellow transgender female friends up to northern California. One especially poignant stop came in San Francisco, where Jenner spent time at the Human Rights Campaign, America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender equality. "Learned so much this week…," Jenner Tweeted on June 5, calling her time at HRC "Unbelievably moving".

"So many people go through life and they never deal with their own issues – no matter what the issues are, ours happen to be about gender identity.

But... how many people go through life and just waste an entire life because they never deal with themselves... to be who they are."

$5 MILLION
http://www.eurweb.com/2015/06/caitlyn-jenner-scores-5-million-payday-for-e-docuseries-i-am-cait/
From what insiders tell RadarOnline.com, Jenner took home $5 million for “I am Cait,” $1 million more than what she paid to become a woman.
“It’s the biggest paycheck ever given by E! for a solo reality show, and Caitlyn’s agent was relentless in getting her the huge payday,” an insider told the site. “At one point, talks between the network and E! had broken down, because nobody wanted to pay her more than $2 million. Caitlyn’s agent then began informal talks with other networks....
