Bruce Willis Diagnosed With Aphasia

Does Aphasia lead to dementia? Or possibly misdiagnosed in the first instance?

There are so many cross over symptoms with these kinds of brain disorders that it can be difficult to know.

Aphasia is not a disease, only a symptom, and it can indeed be a symptom of frontotemporal dementia.

I don't recall ever hearing of FTD until I saw a thing about it on "60 Minutes" a while back. One of the cruelest things about it is, not so much for the victim as for those who care about them, is that people who have it are not aware that anything is wrong with them.

p.s. My aunt, who had familial hypercholesterolemia, had a stroke as a result; she just couldn't get her levels below about 500 no matter what she did. There are different types and degrees of aphasia, and in her case, she didn't seem to understand what was said to her, and this brilliant woman's vocabulary for the last few years of her life consisted of one word, and that word was "NO." She was capable of a certain level of self-care, under close supervision, and my uncle couldn't take care of her at home and put her in a nursing home. He did visit regularly, but it's unknown if she recognized him, or other visitors.

He is one of my favorite actors. Really loved him in the Sixth Sense , as well as the Die Hard movies.

I have had the pleasure of meeting him a few times in my life and he was nothing like his movies except for his sense of humor. He was such a warm, considerate, fun man. It breaks my heart that he's going thru this. And I've noticed signs in my own father that I didn't realize were warning signs after reading about BW's symptoms.
