Toby Willis, the patriarchal star of former TLC show “The Willis Family,” was arraigned Monday on four charges of child rape.

Willis, 46, pleaded not guilty. His trial is set to begin on July 18, 2017, reports The Tennessean.

A father of 12, Willis was arrested in September 2016 and charged with one count of child rape after an alleged interaction with an underage girl in Nashville over a decade ago. According to court documents, a relative of Willis’ also accused him of sexual assault.

Looks like it is over for Toby. Plead guilty and will serve 40 years - 100%. Now, hopefully, the family-especially the victim-can move on from here. What a horrible tragedy.

I am from Illinois and there is a big history with this family. Toby Willis lost several of his young siblings in a horrible fire that engulfed the family van. The parents survived. Turned out that the driver of the truck that lost a piece of his equipment that hit their gar causing it to catch fire, had received his license through a pay for play scheme that ended up with Governor Ryan in prison. It was a huge story when it happened, and an even bigger story when all the news about the License for Bribes scheme exploded.

America fell in love with Toby and his beautiful family on America's Got Talent, particularly due to their background story, and their rising from the ashes victory.

Now to learn that all of this time, the father was nothing but a disgusting piece of filth is beyond comprehension. My heart aches for his wife, children, loved ones and especially, his victim. While he is paying for his unspeakable crimes, and she can move on with her life, I am certain the scars will always remain.

I watched this show, loved it! Now the fact that he pled guilty makes me sick for his victim which is presumably his daughter. I love his wife and kids, my heart aches for all of them!

Well I didnt even know who this family was. Never heard of them. I regretted not sending my child to church, not going with him to set an example and now he is a 20 year old agnostic. I will say I am a believer and after I just watched several videos on youtube where certain groups have been attacking the faithful and calling them out, i will say this, just because you are a believer does not mean you are free from sin. I hated to hear this and pray that child gets help. Im a little confused as to why it was 12 years later before they nabbed him? Whats up with that, if he truly is a pedo he could have been attacking the other children all those years. Did she just not come forward till now? I can see times will be hard for them he seemed to be the leader of that pact. I hope they heal and move on.


40 years ? wow I dont keep up with the perverts we have floating around this country but isnt it common especially in incest cases where the man gets probation and counseling? I just do not recall hearing of such a long sentence for this crime ...?

ofcourse he is where he belongs, just saying ive seen in Texas at least much lighter sentences. I see now he got 4 counts so it was not just a one time thing, they didnt say if it involved more than one victim though. Texas courts are overwhelmed with these cases.

Courts everywhere are overwhelmed with these cases - - - and that is a good thing. These victims of abuse have always had the emphasis placed on them to overwhelmingly convince a jury that they were in fact sexually abused, and even then the pervert usually got away with it. Too many cases came back with a "Not Guilty" verdict. It is only a recent trend that the victims are being believed and the perverts are going to gaol. Now even the sentences are being increased, as you have commented on. The sentences needed to be increased because the damage done to the victims is life-long. They destroy their victims lives. This pervert won't be raping any more children, and that is a good thing.

Maybe courts want to set an example of him since he is a public figure hoping it will quell some of these awful crimes. If that is their goal I highly doubt it will work.

I always enjoyed their show and was shocked that the father was doing stuff like this. I wish the family well in dealing with this situation.
