Professional movers packed it up and took it to Atlanta

http://www.cnn.com/US/9707/12/briefs.pm/jonbenet/index.html

I wouldn't want to go back there either. IMO the guilt of not realizing how sick Burke really was and therefore not protecting JonBenet was terrible. Plus realizing that they now were stuck defending themselves and the weird mess that is Burke forever must have been daunting. Going back into the house wasn't necessary. They paid people to do it.
Hmm
I wonder if the movers saw or found anything weird.

I bet the tissues were from the advocates or friends who came to support them. Advocates would be prepared for crying etc.
I wonder if there were pictures from the initial kidnapping then the after scene when they found her body. IIRC didn't people clean the kitchen up to during the hours before the body was found? It could be possible they put away some of the dishes on the table right?

This is how CBS says it was in the morning - it doesn't look exact to me:

The placement of the bowl of pineapple does look like it may have been placed there to place pineapple into other bowls. This would make sense with the serving spoon.

Either way, it doesn't look like much pineapple was removed/eaten from the bowl....

Sort of a strange place to have a box of tissues on the table like that....

SecretaryGal,
Maybe the tissues are there because the server, i.e. BR know JonBenet would eat with her fingers?

Wow to this ~ very detailed, believable scenario ...

Oh the questions, at every turn there is another angle and more questions. Okay so my questions come in this order...

In the Rs circle of friends would BR have been the only one to receive a 64 that year? If not...

Why would he have to bring his entire gaming system?

Could there be another reason for him to pack it out of the house that day?

Lets look at what we know. BR was outside riding a bike (whose we don't know). According to JR and BR, there is at least one maybe two other toys BR was more interested in. When asked by Phil (I'm refusing to call him DR ever again) what he got for Christmas, BR doesn't say a 64, instead he tells Phil he got a train and a new bike (which comes with its own plethora of questions). So is it distancing? Or something else as they clearly place it in BR hands as he leaves for the Whites, where I am willing to bet there was another 64. Is it just an excuse for why it left the scene. You know, its innocent, its just a child's Christmas present.

Like everything else it could be a huge deal or nothing at all. Oh the questions they go round and round.

Me either. I didn't think they did a very good job with the crime scene. It was too sterile.

singularity,
A minimal BDI does not require BR to whack JonBenet on the head. That might have been one of the parents, i.e. their first attempt at killing her outright, or staging it so!
Hold the phone....

YOu think John or Patsy might have bludgeoned her before Burke enters the equation or am I reading that wrong?

singularity,

BR is on record, said it on Dr Phil or one of those interviews that JonBenet annoyed him while he played his games, something to do with noise, not sure if that's asperger's related or just intolerance?

.
.
I don't see anything wrong with it. A lot of kids get annoyed by younger kids, especially siblings trying to get involved.

There's a story that they found a video cassette behind one of the shelves in the TV room. I don't remember the source or where I read it, but there wasn't much to the story.

"Five minutes later, as a crime scene tech dusted for fingerprints, one of the advocates followed along, tidying up with a spray cleaner and a cloth. It was a terrible breach of procedure— possible trace evidence was being erased in the name of neatness."

This is how I understand the Breakfast Room Seating according to the interview Cranberry posted:

Thank you Nin, awesome diagram.

I believe the box of tissues was from when PR realized JBR was deceased (i.e. before she made the police all, etc.). She was probably crying the whole night/time during the staging, which I assume JR did the most of. That is why (I believe) she re-did her makeup/hair before calling the police -- because she didn't want them to know she was crying the night before. Her excuse that she did that, while also wearing the clothes from the night before, is BS - she did that because she didn't want it to be obvious that she was crying and that was her first priority before even thinking about changing clothes.

You mean using tissues to pick up the pineapple? Yuk.
My Mom always says tissues are worthless -- she likes paper towels even for her nose. And pineapples would be wet and sticky.
Why is hardly any of the pineapple eaten?

  • #510
There was milk in the bowl of pineapple, right? Otherwise, what is the point of the spoon at all? It's a big spoon, but still, not large enough to divy out large amount in one use -- so it would still be awkward to have been used in this capacity, in my opinion.

I could see a child grabbing a too-big spoon if he/she prepared this bowl for him/herself -- children do that all the time, it seems anyway, and they always grab the bigger option.

I think he meant using them to clean one's fingers after picking up the pineapple. I know a lot of people who use tissues instead of napkins for some reason when eating. Some families just tend to buy more tissues than paper towels, and if you (or a child, say) would need more than just one or two paper-towels/napkins, and box of tissues on the dinner table makes sense in that sense, as kids are prone to use a lot of napkins when eating.

Thank you BB! What the hell were they thinking letting the visitors touch or do anything???? You're right it was a terrible breach!

Agreed. The fresh makeup & hair vs. old clothes is a huge give away to me.

To me, that table set up doesn't look like something an adult would do. This looks like a glass top table. How many women would place a glass and a bowl ON the glass? She would carefully place them on the place mat. I had a glass table back in those days and it was a pain to keep clean, you did not set dishes on it. You made sure to use the place mats.

Also, (this is just from vague memory) I think Burke said somewhere that he liked iced tea. Also that they used to make it in a glass using the microwave. The large serving spoon in the bowl--again, more like something a kid would do. A kid might do it because they didn't know any better or just "because they could" without their mother scolding them. Now that Burke has admitted that he was up in the middle of the night, it's seeming more possible to me that he fixed that snack--used a huge spoon either to be silly or rebellious or didn't know better, set food right onto the glass table (maybe he usually got scolded for that too but he was up ALONE at night this time).

His fingerprints are on the dishes because he set up the snack. Patsy's fingerprints are on the dishes just because she took them out of the dishwasher and put them away. Patsy, when interviewed later, does say that the set up looks strange. This time she seems to be telling the truth when she says she wouldn't use the large serving spoon and that the set up doesn't look right. I don't think she had anything to do with the snack. It was Burke--up to mischief in the middle of the night.

So I don't know who killed JBR; no one does. But I do think this table scene shows that Burke made himself a snack, that he was alone at that time. At that age, some kids would be up to mischief, acting like the king of the house, up all by himself, doing whatever he wanted to do. Angry and rebellious, at least that night. Probably feeling pretty proud of how he had everyone fooled while they were asleep. Making his own food, playing with his toys in the middle of the night--just the opposite of what his parents have told him to do. Patsy would have told him to go to bed and get a good night's sleep so he would be ready for the next day. (hmmm, sounds a little bit like the ransom note but I don't want to jump to conclusions.)

Isn't that the truth. I'm not just speaking from experience with my own younger brother.

write,
Excellent observation. What I reckon is that the bowl on the table is just a serving bowl. If the spoon is too large how could JonBenet fit it in her mouth?

Here is another thought, not original but has to be aired. Kolar never expanded upon JonBenet be whacked on the head in the breakfast bar, that was left for Spitz, because its probably false, and he knows it?

Now I think the CBS theory is a Made for TV Theory. Neither Kolar or Spitz are telling us how JonBenet arrived in the basement, there appears to be no disorder in the breakfast bar, does it look like a homicide crime scene?

The bowl looks like the same bowl used two days prior to decorate the gingerbread houses. Who knows if it got washed. I can see Burke grabbing it and using it for pineapple.

I'm in the minority, but have recently read again earlier discovery by Cyril Wecht, who stated that JonBenet was sexually assaulted prior to her death...and earlier. According to him, there is clear evidence of ongoing abuse. He also stated (sorry I don't have a link but it's in the book Who Killed Jonbenet) the garrote and ties were a part of a sex game. I don't think a 9 yr. old boy would go to these extremes. I have a 9 yr. old grandson and a 6 yr. old granddaughter. They disagree, but what happened to JonBenet has many more facets than just sibling rivalry. I'm back to my original theory that Patsy caught John abusing JonBenet and accidently hit her with something when he dodged. Burke may or may not have been awake at the time, and witnessed some of the horror. Having to deal with all that happened in the family would easily make Burke a little different as an adult. Either way, someone got away with murder.
