He was known for helping the poor and building a mosque in his neighborhood, the family friend said. He was also an ultra-conservative Salafist Sunni who held strong anti-Shia views.

She was said to be a brilliant student and was not known to have religious or political affiliation while there.

The Inspector General of the Department of Homeland Security(DHS) found that TSA officials responsible for vetting every application for airport security credentials did not have access to terrorist watch list data, CBS News reports. In addition, thousands of aviation employees across the country were found to have provided “incomplete or inaccurate” records – including those for 75,000 immigrants.

The inspector general’s report found that 73 airport employees, including airline workers, airport vendors and other individuals with access to secure sections of commercial U.S. airports, were flagged on U.S. terrorist watch list data.

In Canada our new Prime Minister offered refuge to 25,000 Syrian refugees (yes, 25,000) by the end of this year (yes, by the end of this year, but it's been put back to end of Feb. I think, still a horrendous chore). You cannot vet many of these persons, as their records are destroyed or fake.

Justin Trudeau was voted in mostly due to lack of faith in the Conservative party, rather than a vote for the Liberals. Thought to be the lesser of two evils in this particular election. But it was clear that the majority of Canadians did NOT want this refugee influx.

Trudeau, even before he took the oath of office, called Obama and said that Canada will be pulling out their bomber planes over Syria. Yes, even before he was PM he went and did that.

And even after Paris, he did not do a turn-around on his refugee stance. He used the excuse that he was only bringing over families, no men that were not attached to a family. Hmmmm. Now we have San Bernardino. Man and wife with a young baby. Haven't heard his comments, if any, on this yet. It will not deter him. He'll go straight ahead full steam in spite of what Canadians want. Will it take public beheadings by Isis in Ottawa to catch his attention?

The world is truly upside down right now. It is not time to be politically correct. That lovely politeness has put western countries into a mess that will be difficult to clean up, but at least we should stop the flow and get a handle on things.

My heart truly goes out to the many innocent refugees. They need protection, in their homeland. And they need their people to be pro-active in the defense of their country.

I don't know the answer, of course. But I do feel very strongly that the course we are taking is the wrong course. Time to get vocal and throw political correctness out the window. Our polite ways will be the death of us.

Just as a bit of additional information, there is no modification to the rifle that is necessary for it to accept a larger capacity magazine. The top part that fits into the weapon is exactly the same - no matter what the capacity is.

As for converting an AR-15 to "full auto" - It is not "necessary" to modify the gun for that either. In fact, you can achieve near full auto performance by simply wrapping a large rubber band around the trigger and the mag well. Also, it is completely legal to do - since only one round is fired per pull of the trigger.

One other thing about full auto - is that it is a complete waste of money and ammunition. Yes, it makes a much more scary (terrorizing) noise and yes, there are many more lethal rounds flying through the air. However, it is much more difficult to aim when firing full auto. In full auto, most rounds either miss or (even if they are on target target) they amount to overkill. This is why our military rifles have a three round "burst" mode of operation that is not available on civilian rifles.

Getting caught up on this thread. Seeing posts about a lot of packages being delivered to Farook's house. I don't see how that, in and of itself, is anything suspicious. We buy a million things for amazon.com. Literally dozens of packages a week this time of year. And at least a couple every week during the rest of the year. That would never be a red flag to me. Especially packages from Target.
