CA - 2-month old baby found dead in hot car - June 20, 2024

If they have now been charged with manslaughter, was their son removed from their care? How traumatic and awful this must be for their son.

Speculation only: Maybe they were both home for the 9 hours, no babysitter involved?
I've wondered all this as well. I'm very upset that the Daily Mail article has a pay wall, as charges of manslaughter are serious and no one seems able to read the article.

Last year I spent months trying to find an update and finally moved on. Now the DA brought charges and I'm trying to find another article. :(

Why charges now? Why in the current environment? Why this week? They had another 2yo at home. Was there evidence of drug use or neglect? (I have not seen any allegations.)

"Paramedics rushed to the scene after 911 was called and tried to save Diana, who was rushed to Sharp Grossmont Hospital, where she died.

Neighbors said the ambulance came and left within a few minutes, and doorbell camera footage showed the late-night emergency response.

Romer and Jayson are charged with felony child abuse and involuntary manslaughter by failing to perform a legal duty. They face up to 10 years in prison."

IMO only, and with zero intention of turning this into a derailing political debate: I wonder if the prosecution of this same-sex couple in the state of California could be politically motivated (for non-U.S. folks, members of the executive branch of the federal government have recently demonstrated animus towards the state of CA and towards LGBTQ+ Americans and have been outspoken in their desire to curtail/outlaw same-sex marriage/parenthood). Given that the child died in 2023 and her parents are just now being prosecuted, the timing really makes me worry that this could be playing a role.

This tragedy happened in summer 2024, not 2023.

But yes. Those are my exact worries. San Diego County is a red region with pieces of blue but overall it's a region that is pro-police/military.... authorities haven't shared any details on the investigation though. It's worrisome & I hope for transparency it is made clear.
