I wish I could believe that. I want to believe that. But, the fact that he tried to kill himself makes me think that it is not likely that they will be found safe. I so want to be wrong, and I applaud your optimism.

I thought that there might be more than one person involved, but the sheriff's description of the video (in the Twitter link) makes it sound as if Salgado really did act alone. I suppose there is a slim chance that he might have delivered them to someone else, and that chance would probably be the only hope that they are still alive.

The long delay until the press conference also has me worried.

I do try to stay positive especially in the beginning of these cases while things are still unraveling and a lot is unknown. I was thinking someone else involved as well... He left with their truck took it to a remote place, lit it on fire, how did he get back to the ATM? Did he have his own waiting? Then how did he get to their location after setting up his waiting car? Unless someone unknowingly helped him. Maybe he asked a relative for a ride... I have not had a moment to catch up so maybe this was already answered.

Almost all violent offenders evolve/escalate their offenses over time if left unrestrained/unchecked. Recidivist violent offenders are predominantly diagnosed with APD/sociopathy. There is no treatment or cure for it (i.e. no "rehabilitation"). If we "follow the science", then why let them out?

Just caught up , so much happened overnight. So, there is an image of someone using the atm card but it is not the suspect? or were they given the wrong image and the suspect was seen using the victims atm card? (I think the latter?) So the first image has nothing to do with the case, I was hopeful it did then it meant there was an accomplice. I am praying hard, maybe someone got hurt but not all are killed? maybe that was his "something bad". oh lordy.
