It still bugs me that apparently his phone went dark shortly after he left. Unless he had a second phone or a portable charger we don’t know about, how was he going to get in touch with anyone?

This is the single most bizarre aspect of what we know of the case for me.

The only conclusion I can draw, MOO, is that he purposefully turned it off to avoid GF contacting him (due to fight), or he purposefully turned it off bc he God forbid intended self-harm. I find it not believable at this point that the battery happened to die the moment he set out on foot.

That’s what they say in the article, but I’ve yet to see any research/info anywhere to confirm that it’s possible to distinguish between a cell being dead or just being powered off. But I’d love to know if it’s possible. Like I said upthread, it’s been a question in the Delphi murders as well, and I don’t think anyone has been able to confirm it’s possible.

Right? IMO it is not coincidental that he disappears the same night as "an emotional talk"..if this were a female missing after such a significant convo, we all know who the POI would be. Then again, LE know more than us. Let's hope so anyway. MOO

Agreed but also feel like it’s a catch 22. LE says because there’s no sign of foul play they can’t investigate further. Not sure how much LE even knows, given this.

Has any of his friends who he was out with commented on his intoxication level while they were with him? If he was sober, why wouldn't he just drive to Natomas? If he was drunk, why would his girlfriend let him walk 11 miles in the middle of the night? This whole story gets more confusing to me as each day passes.

Yes, but both would have shown up both on his phone and as a debit to his account, and we're hearing that that didn't happen.

If my husband decided he wanted to leave in the middle of the night and walk 11 miles, I can’t imagine that I would be able to physically stop him. This doesn’t mean I “let him”. MOO

I read that Alex’s car was not operable at the time. I need to find the article link...

It was stated in one article (perhaps more than one I’m not sure), and I’ve seen it mentioned in a few posts on Red—- that his phone battery “died”, but I’ve never ever seen anything about how that can be differentiated from a power down. It could just be a case of poor reporting, or assumptive reporting. I’m unconvinced people are positive the battery actually died.

However, it’s been pointed out that his phone was supposedly traced to a street nearby at 2:30am. If it’s true, then his phone at least had juice and/or was powered on for a little bit. But again, I’ve not seen that specifically confirmed by LE.

This is a frustrating case for me to follow in a variety of ways- one being that I find the “LE verified” info pretty hard to distinguish since Red—- seems to be the main source of updates. That makes it hard for me to feel like I’ve got accurate facts.

I'm not sure if that's been confirmed since family reported they were having difficulty accessing AH's financial records because he's a missing adult -- perhaps voluntarily-- and no evidence of foul play. Maybe that information has since been obtained.

(At 25, NYE ended around breakfast time on Jan 1st for me. )..

Yes, he went out on 12/30 Monday, but it could’ve been busier than normal for Uber because of the Holiday week plus people leaving bars...
